Great video! It's easy to not realize this when only watching successful runs, so I want to emphasize how unlikely it is for the game to take you to the credits, even if you do everything correctly. If you want to try this yourself, don't be discouraged if the game just crashes the first few (dozen) times. For some reason, the credits warp seems even less likely the faster your run is, at least after a certain point.
@@Rumboats I believe the Switch version won't work because it just closes the game if it crashes. This works on the NES or Kirby's Dream Collection version of Kirby's Adventure.
Playing the original NES cartridge,, my game crashed once and deleted the profile/game I was playing on. Wonder if this glitch is what I unintentionally did lol Edit: ok watching this so far, nope this isn't what happened lol
I'm not going for a speedrun. But I always try to go for a no damage run whenever I replay this game. And that lag from on screen enemies/effects is usually the thing that messes me up. Still, it's one of my all time favorite games so I don't mind playing it over and over.
Thanks for mentioning my TAS! A quite embarrassing fact about my TAS was that, although it was the first of its kind for this game, I _did not know_ at the time that Kirby could run by pressing the directional button twice in succession. As someone who led the TAS community at the time and continuously stressed how important it is to do your research, this was something I had no excuse for. And it was not the only game where I failed similarly. Still, it was the first one, so there’s that. As for PAL/NTSC, these were the early days of TASVideos, and there was a lot that I did not know either. We got better.
Glad to see you here. Thank you so much for all your contributions and I'm happy to see you lurking around here! It definitely was a different era, but hey things evolve. Really awesome to see how far every community has come!
MESHUGGAH was named after the Yiddish word for "crazy", pronounced "meh-SHOOG-gah" (a bit like "meh sugar" without the final r-sound); Riolu is pronounced "REE-oh-loo".
You never fail to impress me with these amazing videos. It's nice to see someone give Kirbys Adventure some attention. This speedgame is extremely underrated
18:33 - I know the actual number is technically 39.980, but it's pretty funny that the footage stops it at "39.86". 86 is an important number for Kirby because in Japanese the number 86 is pronounced similarly to the word "HAL". In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, the maximum EXP number is 39860, which sounds like "Thank you HAL" when pronounced in Japanese.
Awesome Video!!! Very pleased this history is documented now. You did a wonderful justice to the community and all of the hard work that was performed for those of us who love this game. Thanks for the memories =)
Glad to see this came out so well. And glad I could help. I honestly didn't know about those really early TAS runs, that was fascinating to see. Knowing more of the history to this game is awesome.
Hey brother, first off al great video as always! I’d like to give some constructive feedback if thats okay, please dont take this as critisism. I feel like your video’s need some more introduction. Imo you immeadiatly jumped into the run with things like ‘heavily using the wheel ability’, while I dont know what the wheel ability is or does or how it could or could not affect the speedrun. Giving some basic information about the run, strategy and movement could really help your audiance to engage more with the video. Anyways goodluck further one and keep on making videos!
Sorry if this isn’t the compliment you’re looking for, but your page came up after Summoning Salt videos…I wait for his videos to come out and I now await the release of new videos from you too. Thanks for all the hard work putting these together! It’s a real art to make these videos so engaging even if I don’t care/ know about the game you are speaking of. People need to subscribe ASAP
That's how I found him the other day too! So glad I did. (The algorithm is in your favor now Storster!) I hope you watch Karl Jobst too, you absolute legend, you?
@@mynameisnothere9465 I don’t know, ever since his own personal run cheating confession, I’m worried Billy Mitchell can now go after him hahaha. No…love Karl Jobst, he is an Absolute Legend. Any other recommendations for who to check out?
MESHUGGAH is pronounced with the sh doing one sound (like in most words in which this sequence appears), not two. it's from the Hebrew word משוגע which means something along the lines of crazy or maniac.
the scarcity of the jokes and the way each one is executed without any setup honestly makes them hit harder because you never truly see it coming. Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about
Reminder that the Controllerhead in this video is the same person who was ejected from AGDQ and received a lifetime ban for sexually assaulting another attendee and destroying a console provided by another atendee.
Dark times. I got the help I needed and am currently living a healthy and peaceful life. Mental health and addiction are no joke: Help is there if you want it. God bless.
Wow, so you can use any gamepad? I'd like to see the 'politics' of speedrunning that has to do with different gamepads and such (the ddr gamepad for mashing he used). I know there's a difference between pal vs not pal, consoles, etc, but I never thought about the actual controllers until 18:18.
the first question he asked about Kirby, the retro is the first thing I think of. Unless you ask what I think of modern day Kirby, I don't think of it. I also like the cartoon it once had.
Kirby's Adventure is my favorite game of all time and also the first I ever completed as a kid. So great to see it get some love. Great job on the vid!
"mess hugga" LOL. the name is pronounced meh-sugar (shuga), its a heavy metal band heres a clip, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KLTyjyXcmrc.html not trying to be a dick i just never considered prouncing it like that
10:11 >Preferred Pronouns: Unspecified >he I know that this profile option on TASVideos was probably added way after these people made their accounts (or even after they'd have left the site), and that this information can be gathered with high enough accuracy by looking at discussions of these members, but I think not addressing this with a note in editing makes it look like you're making unfair assumptions.
I am constantly aware of people's pronouns and I found multiple times on forums where CoolKirby is referred to as "he". As someone who likes using neutral pronouns a lot personally, I'm definitely not ignorant to that.
This was a fun watch. I appreciate having access to this information in video format like this, as otherwise I would never have the time or energy to go off an learn about a thing like the history of Kirby TAS.
