Woulda been Michael Soroka if he didn't blow out his Achilles on a freak play on the slope of the mound and then his doctor didn't screw up by performing surgery with Non-hypoallergenic stitches. How hard is it to get Hypoallergenic stitches anyway. Isn't he a surgeon? In a hospital? Who knows he's working on a professional athlete? The first Achilles injury was just a freak thing where he slid off the slope of the mound trying to play defense. The 2nd surgery was caused by the surgeon being an idiot and using subpar products to perform surgery on a person he knew relied on that part of his body to make a living. Couldn't spring for the better stitches? Why? It makes no sense at all unless the doctor and or facility is just terrible overall.

He's one of my absolute favorite players. Love how much he walks. Love how a little girl went to see him play, he got ejected early, and later saw that the little girl had cried because she wanted to see him play, and he finds the girl and give her a hug, a ball etc. made her day. Wonderful showmanship. Oh and he drove Roy Halladay nuts during the Phillies no-hitter with how often he stopped the at bat LOL

Lifelong Reds fan here. Votto is a legend in Cincy. HOF'er in my book hands down, and of course, I'm biased. I've had the opportunity to meet Votto a couple times and he's an extremely nice guy. His return is gonna help out these young guys immensely. Plus, it's Votto. Baseball is better with Votto and I hope he can get a ring before he's said and done.

I love the story how Votto tried to stand and swing like Griffey Jr when he came to the Reds the first time. Votto says “guess who this is?” And proceeded to foul a ball I think. Griffey said without missing a beat, “ I certainly don’t do that” or something to that effect. Classic.

In fourth grade, I did a book report on Joey Votto and he’s been my favorite player ever since. Just like he had a poster on his wall of his idol, I had him up on mine. I was number 19 every year i played. Just pretty cool to think about. This is the first year in my life that I actually get to watch winning reds baseball. I just love seeing him have fun playing again.

Crazy to think when Votto came up it was Jay Bruce who got all the hype. He was blocked at first by Scott Hatteberg for a bit. Now he's a future HOF. And you can tell the last few years especially how much love he has for the game.

My son and I have been huge Joey Votto fans for years. He even has a Ted Williams poster on his wall like Votto. We actually know his high school coach referred to in this video as well as one of the scouts mentioned. As it turned out my son, fresh out of high school, is a minor leaguer with the Jays. Votto signed a minor league contract with the Jays. Imagine how thrilled my boy was to find himself training right beside Joey. What a positive influence and a great situation for a young, aspiring major leaguer:)

Not a Reds fan particularly but I do like Votto. Especially his willingness to embrace the “bad guy” role when on the visiting team makes the game more fun to me; he’s like a heel in wrestling. My favorite was when he chased down a foul ball that was rolling toward the outstretched hands of some opposing team fans just so they wouldn’t get the ball. But by his actions otherwise, it’s clear that is just a character he plays for fun, as by all personal accounts he sounds like a pretty good dude. I feel like the game could use more characters like him.

Votto is a great player for young people to look up to. He is a guy who has seen and admitted his downfalls and who has changed to adapt to a different game than it was when he came up. Plus he is a great person.

I'm a native Cincinnati fan, I was eleven when they were champs in '75, the back to back championships in the pre free agency era is quite a feat. Imagine what the payroll for that roster would be today! They struck magic again in 1990 and should have had one more, minimum. Small markets have a difficult time competing with the mega markets. Joey is a class act and Cincinnati is blessed.

This is fantastic. But I wouldn't use the word "chaotic." It leads the viewer into a different mind set. Votto is brilliant, intelligent, weird and wise. Whenever he gets mic'd up on the field you get an entire lesson in life and baseball. He's a baseball treasure and I hope MLB keeps him around in some form or another after he stops playing.

I really didn't like Votto for a long time. Granted i liked him being on the Reds but like u said thought he was a dick. I leaned that his dads death really affected him and why he was so withdrawn socially. He's really become one of my favorite Reds players now even though he's still a little weird sometimes but hey he's Canadian so it adds up. Lol im joking...... or mabye not???
