Lucy told him to stay where he was and they were coming to get him. Its likely he thought he would get a head start and meet them on route. Unbeknown to him that he was walking in the opposite direction. When hes realised that he's tried to get back to where he was by cutting out the gorge and has died doing it. That last call with brad his final words were "i''ll' call you back i'll call you back" i'd put money on that being the pinnacle moment he was falling rather than another call incoming. He would of wanted to save his phone and use both his hands but it wasn't enough and he's tumbled down the side of a mountain and plummeted into a ravine head first! the responders said all his injuries are consistent for a fall. Don't forget people have fallen from meer FEET and died. you only need to hit your head once in the wrong place and i imagine falling down a cliff face smashing your head of rocks on the way down would defo do that.,

@@brettrigby2226 Thats not what happened though is it, he called Lucy after calling Brad and so couldn't have fallen while on the phone with him/directly afterwards. Its more likely hes getting away from someone, scared, not using the road as he'll be found by the car and thinks he can get out through the mountains maybe even just to hide until his 2 mates come later. I think its far more likely he slipped while trying to move quickly to get away from someone and that that someone was able to retrieve the things he stole. I'm sure we'll find out more, the Spanish police letting the drug dealer and his friend leave is criminal and clearly critical to the investigation, along with his dodgy dealings on the island, how Lucy travels around Europe constantly without a real job and many other things Dire Trip unfortunately missed out

The legal system is in shambles, and how things work clearly isn't an effective way of dealing with these crimes, so I really value hearing what other people think about this matter, since it has so many varied perspectives to consider. Though, if every single murder attempt was an immediate death sentence, that seems like a blanket solution to a nuanced problem. It also would also be bad for instances of false charges. I definitely think in this case, given the violence and weapons and intent with the attempted murder, the safety of the public should've been valued over his age.

Its easy to overlook how Jay's 'friends' kept adding details as the days and weeks went on, such as the video call and seeing him walk off road on stones, then Ayub later saying how he knew Jay was in a ditch, none of this was mentioned early on in the search, only when attention shifted to them did they start producing the info.

They issue in this case is that Jay's friends and associates are dealers, so they basically wanted as least attention as possible from the beginning so people wouldn't recognise them. @piperjaycie Jay Slater, 18, of Fountains Way, ACCRINGTON - 18 month community order with 25 days rehabilitation activities and 150 hours unpaid work. Convicted of violent disorder in August 2023, when he was aged 18. He is now 19. His codefendants were found guilty of witness intimidation, attempted robbery and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Throughout a trial at Preston Crown Court, all eight laughed and joked in a way the judge said showed disrespect. The judge said if the group had been convicted of the more serious charge of section 18 wounding, they would all have gone to youth custody. Tom Hilton, who was 17 at the time of the attack, suffered a head injury so serious his skull was exposed, and wounds to his shoulders and legs in the attack close to the Old Paper Mill in Hermitage Street, Rishton, in August 2021. The Daily Record: Eight thugs who split boy's head open with machete dodge jail The teens were slapped with community service after attacking Tom Hilton, who was 17 at the time, with a machete, an axe and a golf club. By Rachel Smith Eve Beattie 19 JUN 2024 Please compare pictures of the convicted Jay Slater in the Lancashire Telegraph article: Eight handed community and rehabilitation orders over attack 4th August 2023, with any other pictures of missing Jay. It is the same person. Tom Hilton, the victim, was jailed for 14 months, disqualified from driving for 25 months and must sit an extended re-test if he wants his licence back. He pled guilty to attempted burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving. Before conviction for these offences, he had 14 convictions for 28 offences. The court also heard that on committing these offences on February 12, Hilton was in breach of two community orders which had been imposed on him, one just three days earlier and one in November 2021 which was a two-year order. Recorder Timothy Hannam KC said: “You have an awful record for someone of your age. “You’ve had a great many chances to change your ways but these offences are so serious that only a custodial sentence is appropriate. “This was a prolonged period of bad driving being chased by police. The speeds were terrifyingly high in built up areas. You were lucky the streets were relatively empty." There's a term called "Ideal Victim" - where public sympathies are immediate, media coverage is high, and investigation and resources are invested. Its usually based on a perception of how likeable the person is, how much they can identify with them, their age (be it young or old), physical attractiveness, lifestyle and a perception of how vulnerable they are. This is why you dont see much media coverage of deaths of drug addicted street prostitutes who have been murderered, whereas cases like Nicola Bulley (the pretty mom 9f two who accidentally drowned while out walking her dog) has near constant press coverage. This case is interesting to me, because at first glance he does seem like an affable friendly young man. I can imagine a lot of mothers immediately identifying with the concern they have for their own kids when they're out partying. And a lot of people looking at him thinking 'wow he looks like one of us, he could fit into our friend group easily'. But once you scratch the surface and realise the character of the person all that changes. The backlash can be extreme, that people can become angry at feeling duped and it also goes to show how much if our opinions of events are created by our own biases... Another point of note is that this story rose within a week of the highly publicised death of British TV Doctor Michael Mosely - who too went for a walk in the midday sun whilst on vacation in Greece, and succumbed to the elements. It pretty much proves a point that whatever lifestyle you lead, how educated you (are or otherwise), nobody gets a free pass from the Laws of Nature.

It's also _vastly_ more expensive to send up a single helicopter to search than to have multiple drones able to not only cover the same area but in less time. The fuel bill alone for a helicopter starts in the $1,000's for just a few hours of flight, and they have to burn time & fuel travelling to/from the nearest heliport.... drones are launched from the search location itself, and can be used underneath canopy, in valleys & other areas that heli's just can't get to. Drones are incredibly valuable SAR tools.

Maybe I misheard or misunderstood but it sounds like the friend heard him say "It's a 14 hour bus ride, a 2 hour walk" and when corrected that he had said it backwards, he suddenly said he had to hang up and that he another call, where he called another friend panicking that he was lost. Is it not possible that, groggy and disoriented or possibly still feeling effects of drugs and alcohol he did not realize he was in danger until that very moment? And by then was too lost to turn back. It seems everyone agrees he wasn't in his right mind, but that he did understand it cold he a 14 hour walk. Given what his friend claims he said over the phone, I don't think he even understood that. He said it backwards. Maybe he genuinely at first thought it was the other way around when he set off, hence deciding to leave when he was told to wait two hours. He might have really assumed he could walk there in two hours. Or believed that for just long enough to make an incredibly dumb decision.

Assult with weapons, drug dealing, hanging out with drug dealers and boasting about stealing people's stuff. If all this is true it sounds like he met a fitting end

What Jay did was wrong, and he should have been Imprisoned. But, what people had done to his family to mock them was also wrong. The family were not the ones who hurt that man with a machete. His mom is allowed to grieve and worry for a child she birthed. Even if her child was a POS.

I don't understand if they had dogs and ppl searching where his phone was last pinged and where he was found why was there not a strong smell of decomposition in the hot heat. Surely dogs would of smelt it sooner even if ppl didn't

Because he wasn’t there. I don’t think anyone will find out the real truth, but there are so many twists,it’s mind boggling. I’ve said this on another video, a coronor report will provide the exact time of death and how the death occurred. In the U.K. you would have had a full forensic team on this case.
