TESTIMONIALS
‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX
‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California
‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK
‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

Landed this yesterday in training, finally after a couple months of playing around trying to get it. Works really well thanks. I have gotten a lot from your videos areas of my technique that were lacking for far too long have really improved. Managed to jump up a couple of white belt grades in just a few months after a good 8-9 months of stagnating! Really appreciate the effort you put into with these videos.

Hey Tom! I want to use this at my gym but our gym fof some reason doesn't allow even straight ankles at white belt. I catch a lot of people in straight footlocks and would love to add other legal techniques to my foot attack reputoire but I'm wondering what your view of this is. I like to occasionally use footlocks and even try for wrist locks but I have got in trouble at my gym.

some gyms are scared of all footlocks. As straight ankle locks are white belt legal, perhaps ask your coach if they can be done so you are prepared! (-: Professor Tom Davey

thanks coach:). i usually just wake up when they pull my neck & hand using their own pulling force, then re-engage the footlock. this is when it breaks! my opponents know this and try to "scramble" causing my position accidental DQ? i have 2 questions, do australia have grappling tourneys similar to NAGA? and, what types of footlocks will get you DQ ed in ibjjf gi or nogi? thanks
@TheGrapplingAcademy
@TheGrapplingAcademy 7 лет назад
Hi there. We have both NAGA/ADCC type ruleset comps as well as many IBJJF ruleset comps. This is legal in both. IN IBJJF just be careful of reaping or turning the opposite way to the leg you are attacking. In IBJJF, it is straight footlocks only. Toe holds and kneebars and calfslicers are brown belt and up and heelhooks are always outlawed in IBJJF. Happy rolling (-: Coach Tom

How is this a submission? Is it kinda like a calf slicer? Is it just a straight ankle lock? Maybe I’ve just never experienced one done correctly but straight ankle locks feel good to me. It just feels like stretching. Yesterday I was informed that heel hooks are a no no at my gym. That sucks because that submission came very naturally to me and now I can’t use it. Since I end up in the position to administer leg locks a lot, I’m looking for an acceptable substitute for the heel hook. This one appears promising but I’m wondering if the submission comes from pressure applied to the muscles/ligaments of the calf or if it’s from bending the foot down and creating pressure on the top of the ankle.
@TheGrapplingAcademy
@TheGrapplingAcademy 5 лет назад
It is a combines calf slicer, ankle lock and toe hold. This injures feet. Many top black belts have proven it. Iv used it countless times against tough black belts. Give it a try. (-: Tom Davey

My academy ids in Adelaide, South Australia. YEs you can use this lock then for sure. I usually only use it when they grab my neck or lapels to 'hold off' the footlock. Just crunch everything in tight like you are choking if they are grabbing your head! Happy rolling (-: Coach Tom

@TheGrapplingAcademy
@TheGrapplingAcademy 7 лет назад
That's a decent question to ask. This is so dangerous and has a long list of injuries (even in IBJJF comps) due to its multiple angles of attack. It slices the calf, pressures the Achilles, and especially if you drop your armpit backward, it will directly attack the ankle and metatarsels too. Get someone to do it to you properly and test it for yourself. Try to find some old footage of Cavaca doing this and busting feet! Many modern guys are using it too regularly at high levels (where no break=no tap) like Christian Woodmansee, Edwin Najami, etc etc. Have fun with this one (-: Coach Tom
