Maybe I am not understanding this correct so correct me if its wrong .. I understand rules should be followed, but my understanding was that the delegate was just finding a simpler solution to the clock malfunctioning. Clock was not registering the 30 second increment after he makes a move (when he is at 1 sec remaining). If the clock was working fine, he was supposed to make his move super quick and get the 30 second increment right away. Since the clock wasnt working, the delegate was just suggesting to give him the 30 second increment anyway for that first move and have it be the opponent's move instead of them fixing / borrowing another clock, him slamming the clock a few times till it worked and then going about it from there. Did not seem too unreasonable a suggestion from practicality point of view even if its not within the rules of course. I feel "disgrace" is a massive stretch.

I dont think they were asking for a "reward of 30 seconds" .. they were suggesting adding the 30 seconds manually (I get it that its not the right way, but practically it is exactly the same) to get the game back on, because the clock was malfunctioning and not adding the 30 second increment he was supposed to get (the move he is slamming the clock for when its 1s left). I feel like people are just jumping on this without understanding what is happening .. dare I say, there might even be prejudice at least for some people based on the kid's name, which if true.. is really sad.

@@allthingzchess initially it was 0:17, then he moved bishop it became 0:47 then again he pressed it became 1:15

When he pressed the clock the first tine, the clock was still showing as if it was his turn to move. So, he pressed it again. Time got added twice. But that isn't his fault, its the clock being stupid.

@@cedriccappelle2036 I don't follow, I don't think there is any world black is going to be able to force white into a bishop and knight checkmate. Maybe you could have sat the king on h7 or something to delay the loss of the pawn but then white puts a knight on f5 and the bishop on b1 eventually winning the second pawn. Is there a detail I'm missing here? I dont think Bf4 made a difference

I dont even understand how he could be upset, the only reason why he got to 1 second in the first place was because he was completely dissociated and not paying attention. He had already practically given up but then he decided to throw a 20 minute tantrum about how he got treated more than fairly.
