Be a good parent so your kids want to help you. being a parent that gives their kids whatever they want produces a cartman and is also not a good parent

For sure, but I would also say it depends on the trade. My mom was a phlebotomist and got her certification for 7 weeks of classes and less than $1k (I think it was around $800). That’s not too bad of a commitment, honestly.

It's hard, but at least you're getting paid to get a cert. Also, hard work usually builds your strength, both physically and mentally.

As a person who grew up in a not so great household, I don't believe it's too much to ask to have some form of a nest egg before having children. Kids are going to grow up with their own mind made up on what they decide to do regardless of how you treat them, and expecting them to take care of you while also learning how to take care of themselves is a big ask in my opinion. That sounds great for parents who are actively involved in teaching their children about the world outside of school, and who'll be there for them as they build families of their own (as expected of us by our culture). But we don't live in a world where parents don't act as equally entitled to their child's life as adult children act entitled money they haven't earned themselves. Children are expensive, so I am also in the camp of "Don't have kids you can't afford". As my mom always said, "Love doesn't pay the bills". And with all the stress she had of having more problems than being a single mother of three kids, she couldn't even afford to love us. As my mom would also say, "the world doesn't owe you anything". And I'd go as far to say that this sentiment would extend to children as they are (quite haphazardly) being born into it.

​@lucidberrypro people tend to copy their parents more than they break away from familial habits, so being financially stable and educated just means your kids are more likely to do the same. Most people just don't plan for kids properly these days in my opinion. They just kind of do it

He has a very solid philosophy that ca work for so many people imo.I have changed the way I think about financing because I see myself in these people and it basically is able to break through those mind blocks we set for ourselves and that it’s not as hard as we think until we dig into the details
