Back when I was in EMS, at one point I worked for a privately owned company. They mainly transport scheduled patients to and from dialysis, Dr appointments and other such things. One very sweet patients we transported regularly had the first name of Dorkus. She was a wonderful woman. I don't know what her parents were thinking when they named her!!
I know what it’s like to grow up with an awkward name. Sandréa Jones. I was discriminated against on employment applications, and on business phone calls. It was NOT right. I never judged any one by their name yet a lot of bigots do. To just get a call for a job interview I had to add my photo to my résumé. I am white but I’ve experienced a small degree of discrimination. I’d NEVER do that to anyone. Also I have been called Sandra, Sondra, Sangria and everything in between. It’s pronounced just like you would pronounce different pronunciations of Andrea. But with an S in front of it. I have found several women with this name. It’s been a hardship. I’m never called by my correct name ever or very rarely.

Back when I was in elementary school, there was a black kid who was literally named "Nation". The real kicker is that it's pronounced "Nay-shawn". They could of just named him Na'shaun or better yet just give him an actual name. But no, they gave him a name that's another word for "country" or "state".
