Watching your vlog from Las vegas. I am so jealous of your travel & food adventures in the Phil. Haven’t been there in years & I’m really surprised & proud of how the country has developed. Thanks to vlogers like you for showing us the beauty of the Philippines. More power to you Jonathan!
I just had beef pares here in Las Vegas at Mang Felix and is not the same as there in which mergim paid 70pesos! her is is $17 which comes to 850 pesos.
Mergim, caught you twice already, haha.. i was surprised no one stopped you the first time. you've used the exit ramp of the Starbucks instead of the entry ramp on the other side. there are big arrows at the bottom pointing to the exit ramp that you've not noticed. you've also met an ascending suv.. well, the guards didn't say anything when you've asked them for the bike parking, so i guess it's fine for motorbikes to do that or they do not want to converse in english.. hahahaha & you exited on the entry ramp. by the way, the white villas next to the house with red tiled roof is the Estancia Resort Tagaytay.
It's called pasa-lu-bong, usually a gift/small item you bring to the people at home when you come back from your travels. It could be a souvenir item or food. It's a Filipino tradition to bring something back home when you travel. I like that you do some research before eating at local restaurants. At least you get to choose the best unlike some vloggers who just eat anywhere and end up getting so so food.
My POV🤔: In a cold places such as Tagaytay & Baguio 🤔... hot / warm savory soup is a go to meal... maybe that's the very reason why through time... they have perfected the cooking craft of making Bulalo there....
Love your channel... like your day to day in BGC... but also like seeing the surrounding areas. Me and my misses watch every video you do sir. I am from the UK. And my partner from the Philippines.
You are not just acclimatized to our weather but your demeanor, how you interact with the locals, how you ride your motorbike, how you travel all around even by yourself and even how you say some tagalog words, you’re like a true Filipino by heart!! You’re a class of it’s own! That bulalo is so mouthwatering!😋 Stay safe stay healthy and stay happy!! Btw, stay forever in the Philippines!! ❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇬🇧
Glad you visited Tagaytay..... I'm lucky to be living here....I knew the late Mr Sibal, the founder of Diner's restaurant, he was the father of Cecilia
While in Tagaytay you ought to try it's variation called Bulalo Steak at Ribchon...Mike and Nelly scored the place and it's famous baby back ribs very high.
The restaurant is popular bec it's known to serve good bulalo at a lower price than the others whilst located along the ridge. They also became popular bec Mike Chen (Strictly Dumpling) ate there before as well as other local celebrities or featured in tv shows.
@@smolfiddle9337 They can only be found in Taal Lake. I'm not sure if they can be categorized as endangered just because they can only be found in one location. They are thriving in that lake. Maybe they have to be propagated in other lakes as well to ensure their survival.
@@smolfiddle9337 I was told that for a time, catching tawilis was banned because its population was diminishing. Nowadays, they're serving it around the country again because it's now being cultured/farmed.
Bulalo taste here is consistent, unlike with some other restaurants which can sometimes be bland or salty. This place does not disappoint at all whenever i take friends with me. You can also get refill of soup.
Just a reminder to remove the calamansi seeds from your food. The seeds taste bitter. Use your fork to filter the seed when squeezing the calamansi to your food or scoop them with spoon if you don't have a fork.
that ramp to that starbucks looks like it's one-way, i.e. there's an entrance ramp and an exit ramp (and that's why the parking attendants/security guards are there at the exit to direct traffic and to make it safer for you to cross opposing traffic to make a left turn...just saying.) good choice on the bulalo joint called bulalo point...that's the only place i've had tagaytay bulalo and tawilis. the only difference from that place and home cooking is the use of msg or whatever magic sarap flavoring enhancer chemicals they use to make their soup tasty. nevertheless, that place is great during the day when you can see the view and breathe cool, fresh air. besides that, i appreciate your critique on the foods....much more descriptive in comparison to flat white mike, the self-labeled foodie whose description is limited to "so good." keep up the good work.
You're a trouper Mergim! You're made to live such a life of adventure. I can almost taste the bulalo, except that the bone marrow seems to be missing. The marrow is a prominent aspect of a bulalo as the word means the bone with its marrow. Next time...
It's great to see that you went with that Bulalo place where lots of locals eat rather than the other one. Did you like that one better than the other one you went to before (with your gf)? Just curious too what your gf said about Bulalo (it's nice to kinda hear too what other Asians think) of our local dishes. Anyways, we loved watching your videos, as always. We have a suggestion btw, you should go to a local market there where they sell beef or you can show us how small the cow looks like there in Tagaytay. We're subscribers from the US and our cows here are a lot bigger than those there 😊. Safe travels!
That was really mouth watering Mergim. So sad that I could no longer eat red meat. I just can inmagine how delicious it is Justin is missing a lot. The height of the vendors food cart are for Filipinos average height only. I was watching this Nigerian vlogger and she was asking an interviewee what surprised him when he arrived here and he answered the height of the people bec Nigerians are tall. We maybe small in size but we are packed with goodness and surprises 😂
A lot of Filipinos descended from Joktan. He was rather known to be of small stature. In case you don't know who Joktan is, he has a brother named Peleg in whose line the descendants of the Israelites come from. The mountain called Mt. Pulag, the tallest mountain in Luzon, got its name from Peleg. Their father is Eber, the father of the Hebrews. It was during Peleg's and Joktan's time when Noah divided earth into 3 parts for his 3 sons.
Mergim, you need to try Sinigang na Bulalo.. The best parts are the Marrow and Gelatinous fatty parts with fish sauce with crushed large green chili with rice!
⭐️ Thanks for this Bulalo recommendation. It does look good. Tendon parts are good for you. We eat a dish at Great Buddha that’s just tendon. Yumm! And yes, eat the fish heads and tails of tawilis too.
Welcome to the Philippines Mergim! Thank you so much for showcasing the tourist attractions in our country 🙇♀️ Next time you visit Tagaytay I highly recommend you dine at Char’s Garden Cafe and try their sizzling bulalo and bagnet which is really good 👍🏼 More power to your vlog and looking forward for more interesting contents from you, cheers!🥂
Balinsasayaw (beside the ate with beef pares) does not only have the best bulalo (order bulalo sinigang) in the Philippines, they also have a coffee which tastes the most similar to starbucks. If anyone thinks I am kidding then be my guest!
Hey Mergim! My partner (who is a also a Brit) and I watch your video everyday. We also frequent BGC in the hopes of bumping into you. Well, we hope to see you in the Great British Festival on Saturday.
Oh no! Mergim, Tagaytay is really known for the Bulalo but and we used to go there just for that. but the best bulalo is the home cooked one (our grandmother's haha) and the next best thing is the Bulalo along the highway there.. small eateries with simple huts. But I guess they are not there anymore. Gotta do your Bulalo in one of those fancy restaurants. Just remember tho: the fancier the place, the less authentic their Bulalo is. Ideally, the soup should be on the clear side. Traditional yummy Bulalo is cooked using firewood or coal for that smokey aroma. The restaurants of course use pressure cooker, hence the smokey aroma is absent.
Also, on the way home, use the sta rosa route instead of the one you used. From the condo , go left (same way as picnic grove) you will encounter a stop light after the starbucks you went in earlier. Turn left, you will notice a lot of cars use that route to go back to manila. Just go straight. You might want to visit the nuvali area.
yes this is for me the faster way from nuvali all the way to sta rosa and take the national highway since only 400cc motors are allowed in Calax from silang to Mamplasan exit then SLEX to C5 or SLEX to Edsa. Next time i hope he can rent a car with justin and show, from Enchanted kingdom to Nuvali then Tagaytay-Twin Lakes for overnight or 2 nights then proceed to Nasugbu white sand beaches for a night or 2 straight ahead from Twin Lakes as we sometimes do.Then go back the same way Calax-Mamplasan exit then SLEX to Filinvest Exit to Filinvest Mall River Park to Molito Alabang/Alabang Town Center then Overnight at Azure hotel then exit to filinvest again (S&R is also there in Alabang) then slex to C5 to Market Market or SM aura to BGC.
I suggest go to metro manila and find retiro street, where pares was first invented, and for the bulalo go to Sto. Tomas batangas ang look for Rose and Grace restorant. I think you'll love it
Different regions have different ways of cooking bulalo. Basic Tagalog bulalo is called nilaga. Filipinos have different kinds of soups knowing we live in tropical country, we love soups so much. Mergim, I remember when your subscribers are at 10k only, now it’s growing. Makes me long home so much. Here in Thailand 🇹🇭 6 years now 😢
First and the legendary bulalo resto at tagaytay is Leslie’s. You missed eating the tastiest part of the bone marrow by the way which is the one in the hole. Loving the long vids
Mergim have you visited the heritage town of Taal near that area? It will bring you back in time. Also try to visit Sariaya in Quezon for it's the Philippine version of Napier NZ known for its beautiful architecture
Try putting the soup with the rice instead of eating the rice as a side. Just like what you would do with pares. Makes the rice much more flavorful 😋 plus makes you full too
I enjoy your travel adventure and food video... In future videos, my suggestion is to make together a Video Collaboration with "The Juicy Vlog" and/or "Nelly's Life", Thanks.....
Just recommendation, put the soup over the rice plate or cup, not rice to the cup of soup.. that’s the proper Pilipino way and nice to see that way. JS..
I'm a Filipino, I would suggest for those who wants to live or visit our country, please know the currency rates, travel fare( taxi, jeep, tricycle, prices of the hotel, apartment, condominium, food, restaurant) because I hate to say this but few of our people are taking advantage of the foreigners, well I think most of the countries have that kind of people too, so All I want to say is be smart and aware so you will not be the victim of those people, don't get me wrong most of the Filipinos are very hospitable people I would suggest to try our breathtaking beaches, cities and delicious delicacies and local food I love my county, the more foreigners to come, more job for Filipinos
the fish you eat called TAWILIS only can catch it and taal lake only very delicious fish you can eat all the way because no bones, keep up the good adventure in tagaytay, keep safe and good health 💯💪 GOD BLESS PO 💖💯💪
