@@goner.9989 fizzyness of recorded tone? Maybe because bad mic position. Also g12-EVH is kinda but fizzy to. Its just hard to hear room sound when u recording amp like this
Not only that, but it sounds waaaaaaay better in person. Channel 1 is amazing. You feel like you don't need any more distortion already, and then Channel 2 hits you like a truck.
James Brown, the creator of the amp and thr original 5150, said that he specificly worked with Celestion to create a speaker that would be custom designed for the amp, but still keep the overall pricepoint relatively affordable. He said that they could've thrown some low end stock Celestion or even an off brand speaker in it, to save even more money, but he felt it would've not served to final product. Shedding more cash and changing the speaker to a Greenback, V30 or Creamback etc. after purchase is always an option, ofcourse.
If they're anything like the original Peavey 5150 cabs then they're smouldering piles of shite. Throw some greenbacks in there and hear them holler. Especially if they're vintage greenbacks or black backs
What for? They have the Stealth and 5150iii mini heads already. By offering Iconic 15w in combo you now have the option for either a Head 5150iii or Combo 5150. Both are awesome, it just depends on what you prefer.
There is also a big difference between the LBX series 15watt heads and the Iconic combos. The Iconic has full size 6L6 tubes, which people have wanted, vs. the LBX 15w heads, which have small EL84 tubes. Nothing wrong with them, but they tend to sound fizzy and the sound often falls apart if you try to crank the volume, to have a jam with a drummer etc.
@@emartinezr even if its brutal. 10 inch speaker cant sound as thick as 12 inch… Its a good sound for 15w small combo of course, but not as good as bigger brothers
@@mynameisdave613 whoops, I got the 15 lol. I have a copper back 112 too , so I can switch if it's bad. The 40 is just too much power . It is also 12lbs heavier than the 15
@@nickalderman5943the 40 watt with 12 inch speaker is the way to go. You get a switch in the back that turns it down to 10 watts. The 12 inch speaker is the one James Brown custom designed for the amp so it's actually should like Eddie and has that clarity without Ice-pick in the ear. The 40 is absolutely worth the $100 more since it's almost as loud a my 50 watt stealth head is a killer amp for sure.
