To wit, I experienced this when someone on NextDoor (we are in a VERY liberal area, and now very “diverse”) complained about random fireworks going off at night one Fall. Then someone else brought up it was likely Diwali (Indian) celebration by other neighbors. All the griping and hostility about how annoying it was and scared people’s dogs, etc, disappeared and suddenly “oh…well that’s nice”. Absolutely ridiculous sycophantic behavior.

That is because they say: ‘There is no blame on us in the matter of the illiterate.’ And they fabricate a lie against Allah and they know it themselves (as well).‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 75]) Yes, he who fulfils his promise and adopts Godfearingness (will indeed face no accountability); so Allah surely loves the pious.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 76]) Certainly, those who sell the promise of Allah and their own oaths for a small price, it is they who will not have any share in the Hereafter. And on the Day of Resurrection Allah will neither speak to nor look at them, nor will He purify them, and for them will be painful torment.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 77]) And there is indeed another section of them who, whilst reciting the Book, twist their tongues so that you may take their inverted expression as (part of) the Book, whereas it is not from the Book. And they say: ‘It is (all) from Allah,’ while it is not (at all) from Allah. They invent a lie against Allah and they know (it) themselves as well.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 78]) No human being whom Allah blesses with the Book and Wisdom and Prophethood has the right to say to the people: ‘Be my servants instead of Allah’s.’ (He would rather say:) ‘Be the devotees of Allah because you teach the Book and because you study it yourselves as well.’‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 79]) Nor would that Messenger ever command you to take the angels and the Prophets as Lords. Would he command you (now) to disbelieve after you have become Muslims?‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 80]) And, (O Beloved, recall) when Allah took a firm covenant from the Prophets: ‘When I give you the Book and Wisdom, and then there comes to you the Messenger (who is exalted in glory above all and) who shall validate the Books you will have with you, you shall then, most certainly, believe in him and most surely help him.’ Allah said: ‘Do you affirm, and on this (condition) hold fast to My heavy covenant?’ All submitted: ‘We affirm.’ Allah said: ‘Bear witness then, and I am also with you amongst the witnesses.’‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 81]) (Now admonished all mankind:) ‘Then he who turns away after this (affirmation), it is they who will be the disobedient.’‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 82]) Do they seek some din (religion) other than Allah’s? And whoever is in the heavens and the earth has embraced His obedience (whether) by choice or by constraint, and to Him shall they all be returned.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 83]) Say: ‘We believe in Allah and in that which has been sent down to us and in that which has been revealed to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma‘il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac) and Ya‘qub (Jacob) and their descendants and that which has been given to Musa (Moses), ‘Isa (Jesus) and all other Messengers by their Lord (we believe in all). We do not make distinction in our faith in any of them, and to Him we submit ourselves.’‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 84]) And whoever seeks a din (religion) other than Islam that shall not at all be accepted from him, and he will be amongst the losers in the Hereafter.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 85]) How shall Allah guide those who disbelieved after embracing faith whilst they had borne witness that this Messenger is true, and clear signs too had come to them? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoers.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 86]) The punishment of such people is that they are continually plagued by the curse of Allah, of the angels and of all mankind.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 87]) They shall remain (imprisoned) under this curse forever. And neither will this torment be lessened, nor will they be given respite,‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 88]) Except those who repent and mend (their) ways. Allah is, indeed, Most Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.‏ (آل عِمْرَان‏ - Āl ‘Imrān [3 : 89])

You're also blinded, just it's less obvious because Bible never pretended to be the exact, verbatim words of God. There is a LOT of contradictions in Bible too, errors, false "facts", and so on. If you're catholic, you should wonder how a man (the Pope) can be supposed to be infallible... When you got Popes who had children, who were obviously more political men than religious men, and so on. If you're protestant, you should wonder how a book known to have flaws could be a superior guide to all others. Be free. Be atheist. You currently can't simply IMAGINE the freedom you're missing, because you're tied up by religion. Trivial things are evident, like not wasting time at church or with sunday school, or communautarist duties. But this is only the tip of the iceberg... The real freedom is in your head. You don't waste anymore time or energy to think about religion, you don't fear anymore a judgment, and you know that what you do is YOUR choice. Some religious people think that atheists don't have any moral: nothing can be more wrong than this statement... We have MORE moral than most religious people, because we don't do "good" things to get a Divine Reward - we do it because we think it's the right thing to do for society or people. And when we don't do "bad" things, it's not because we fear a Divine Punishment - we don't do it because we know someone will be harmed by our act. Religious have a "moral" because they're greedy (rewards) and cowards (punishments). That's not moral, that's selfishness ONLY. And BTW, never noticed that the more a religious speak about a given sin, the more it's HIGHLY probable that he commit it himself, and that he's just starting a witch hunt to divert attention? Please remember: if religion implies moral, then why most Italian Mafia mobs so religious? Why so many criminals are praying in Death Rows? Religious criminals are a FACT. Therefore, religion do NOT implies to have a moral. Atheists don't pretend to be perfects. We don't use also false modesty. We accept our flaws, we are proud of our virtues, and we DO NOT FEAR ANYTHING, not even death. Death is unavoidable, and everything unavoidable must NOT be feared. Fear only what can "hit" you if you do not (manage to) change something. Death is necessary in life, so the species can be improved by removing the less good elements (the old generation) in favor of the better elements (the new generation). There is nothing scary about death. And when you don't fear death anymore, then you don't need a god anymore. God is for weak people who are afraid by the dark. God is for dumb people who can't understand how Life works. And no, it doesn't mean that atheists are nihilistic suicidal people. We want to live. A long life. Get the most of it, in particular by not wasting our precious time in vain rites. We don't WANT to die. But we don't fear it anyway... Just a little comparison: You KNOW your children will leave the nest one day. It DOES NOT make you happy. You may even wonder what will happen after. But as a responsible adult, what do you do? You PREPARE THEM (and yourself...) for this moment. And you don't fear it. Do the same with death, get rid of religion. You have nothing to lose, and you can win... a real, free life. "Hard" atheists, like me, don't even fear ignorance. Some things don't have an explanation, right. And then? Will this fact changes ANYTHING in my daily life? Absolutely NOT. Our descendants will answer that one day... Or maybe not. Knowledge is not pretending to have an answer to everything, it's searching for new things constantly - even if some of them cannot be solved/known YET, it's not useless to KNOW that these answer isn't found. It doesn't matter: the journey is more important than the destination. Remember: most "answers" of religions aren't answers, since they can be resumed in "Because!". And nothing more. Invoking God as an answer do not provide anything more than saying "We don't know" when you're atheist... But the second answer, at least, is honest. I just had an argument with a Muslim on Reddit about why in Christians don't believe Muhammad was a messanger. I don't know how, but we ended talking about the Kaba, and I told them it doesn't make sense that the Kaba was a holy place for Christians, because I'm any Christian text appears something even similar to that. He answered me with the same excuse: the Bible was corrupted. Then I asked him to tell me one Torah verse that claims something like that (the Kaba as a holy place for Jews as well) because in the Quran says the Torah was the word of Allah, and the Word of Allah can't be changed. And they just banned me LoL

if the quran were truly perfect in the real meaning there would be no non-believers and even more so everything else would be a dissapointment, there is nothing perfect.
