Congratulations, I drilled a well that dripped sulfur water at 300' and gushed 25 gallons a minute at 525'. Surviving the stress to get there is huge. I cried for 24 hours from gratitude. I'm very happy for you.🎉❤
@@Linneaandakelawhen a person gambles they never should gamble more than they can afford to lose. Then if needed they can save more $$$ again until they have more than they can afford to lose. If you think about it this way it might be a little less stressful. I’m saying this because I all a financial planner and that’s what I told my clients. Hopper out helps
I applaud your efforts on not only buying land and establishing some kind of roots for your future, but drilling for water because water is essential in the desert. However, look around you there's SNOW and consider the RAINFALL the desert gets... CAPTURE THAT AS WELL. Consider a water catchment system, an essential in the desert.
What an amazing video! I was on the edge of my seat watching you go through this suspenseful real life drama. Who would have thought that drilling a well in the desert could be so thrilling and fascinatingly addicting to watch?!?! Your commentary and your real reactions throughout to the stress, hope, despair, gratitude, and finally total joy made this video the gem it is. With all that said, I am thrilled for you that your piece of heaven has water and you will be able to make your dreams a reality. I look forward to watching you build it. I also just wanted to say, that your humanity and kindness shines through on every one of your videos and shorts as well as a joy for life few are lucky to find. I am thankful I found your channel. You have helped me look at the world differently and for that I am grateful. I will be 60 in January, and I am very happy to find I can learn much from the young. Walk in peace, darlin’, and keep the videos coming!!
Linnea, as a well driller (in Tennessee), it actually hurts my feeling a bit to hear that you feel that after doing a GPR survey, you still think you're gambling on a well being drilled. If the survey says the water is there, it's a 95% chance IT'S THERE. The other 5% is just how deep it is. In your case I would venture a guess that since you have a creek nearby, the elevation difference between the creek and where you're drilling will be fairly close to the depth of the well + or - 20'... 😁👍
Let the cottonwood planting begin! Congrats on the well. Can't wait to see all the fun to come. Hope your blood pressure has gone back down to normal. Even mine was rising watching this.❤
This video has me on the edge of my seat…for 28 whole minutes!!! The worried look on your face when the driller confirmed that it was not looking good…I got sick to my stomach. When you hit 3 gpm, I had to pause the and take a breather from the relief and excitement😂 When you hit 20 gpm, I ran and told my husband every detail…of the whole video. I think he’s a fan now😁. I am so happy for you and thank you so much for sharing these real moments with us.
Linnea! Oh my God!!! You’re story telling and video editing skills are wildly beautiful!!! The range of emotions I had throughout this video blows my mind. From laughing at how sincerely sweet the water dance was to holding my breath during the drilling portion to literally sobbing in joy for your well being successful! Congratulations! All the crazy hard work you’ve put in is paying off and I am so very genuinely happy for you! Now excuse me I need to go find the tissues. ❤
OMG that was emotional - I've bitten my nails right down!!! So pleased for you both - can't wait to see what you do with all that land. Congratulations xxx
We used a company that used satellite from space that can see down into the earth layers to locate water underground, it tell you how deep and how much it will produce. They locate and come out and put a spike in the ground and say dig right here. Yep it was 100%, this was 14 years ago, we've since used it on two other parcels of land we own, 100% on the mark!
Don't suppose you could share that specific company's name? I'm considering getting some land out in an equally-dry area to the vid, and would love some recommendations on good folks.
I can’t think of a time I’ve ever burst into tears of excitement for someone I’ve never met! I’m so excited for you and that was a very stressful time for you. Can’t wait to watch your journey from here. Congratulations!
Poor Akela knew you were stressing out. So happy you got way more than you hoped for. The universe delivered! Trust your heart. You are right where you belong :) Can’t wait to see your garden.
I thought Akela was the dog, do you mean "poor Linnea"? Or are you concerned about the stress levels of the dog? Because I think dogs stress levels can be fixed by playing with a tennis ball.
This was the most stressful video I have ever seen from anyone I follow, I can’t even imagine the stress level you were enduring, can’t wait to see your vision come to fruition🥰
@@katrinalyndm8576if you want to see stress, you should follow some of the sailing channels when they hit a storm and everything is going catastrophically wrong, and they are being slammed by waves and then they have a mechanical, the stress levels there are mega.
Linnea I'm so excited for you. I know that was stressful and costly for you but you hit the jackpot. So now the journey truly begins. I cannot wait to see your next video.❤
@@Linneaandakela No. Now you promote wells everywhere. There is always water if you go deep enough. The Pressure comes from depth, you must pay the piper to go deeper.
That was nerve racking just watching. Better than any fiction:seeing the risk and rewards, and your start of this dream. Well deserved. The spirits are with you
I so appreciate you sharing these honest and real aspects of your journey! I make RU-vid videos in a similar spirit as you and am also making a big transition to building/renovating my first lil "tiny home" and it has been one of the most stressful experiences - could not relate more to what you were going through. I was literally holding my breath with you for most of this video and teared up when you showed the water coming from the ground. I think it's easy for a lot of creators to skip over the real parts of stories like this - about how terrifying and overwhelming becoming self sufficient and building your own land and home can be - thank you for keeping it real. Celebrating you, this success, and your new adventure! Sending love from my little corner of the world to yours!
YAY I’m so relieved!!! I didn’t realize I was holding my breath until I gasped for air. I cried grateful happy tears for your accomplishment! You are truly an inspiration! Much respect!
Cottonwoods, probably a no. You would need good surface water supply to grow trees. Your land is not suited to a forest you wish for. Still, a great desert lifestyle can be had. Go for it, and best wishes.
By the way re finding water, I'm well trained in science but believe it or not quite a few people I respect had tremendous success with somebody that was an expert at dowsing to find water. Amazing 🎯
So happy for you. I have been following you for 3 years . Who is inspired me to build my own van which I have done it took me a year and a half to complete it and I am happy the only drawback I'm not young like. My years of vanning will only be for a few years I am 82. Not quite ready for a rocking keep on going young lady it's been a joy following you and good luck.🎉
That’s incredible congratulations ❤ side note… I’d rethink cottonwood trees. They tend to not be hardy. Won’t stand up to wind, are a horrible firewood source and have white cotton all over them in the spring that makes you sneeze and gets all over everything at least here in Oklahoma that’s the case 😊 just my 2 cents. You’ll do amazing whatever you choose to grow and plant.
Man, that was stressful for me, so I don’t know how you managed to cope Linnea. Your literally throwing money down a well and not knowing if your going to find anything for it. So pleased for you guys. I’m sure there’s lots more exciting times ahead, just hope not as stressful.
Congratulations your patience paid off and you took a risk and it was worth it and I am so happy for you and so proud of you I can't even imagine how stressful it must have been but you hung in there you are amazing and your strength and resilience and tenacity you're such a powerful example for all of us please keep doing what you're doing and know that we all of us who watch you are so proud and so excited for you sending many blessings
The tears were real, thank you lord for all your blessings for the strength to persevere and a genuine miracle. Linnea thank you for sharing this moment with us and I’m praying for you foraging your own happiness! Sending love and light ❤
Crying tears of joy for you!! Such a monumental step towards dreams coming to fruition! So incredibly happy to be able to follow along on your journey🎉
I don't know where your property is, but where I've been looking you can get water trucked in for 8 cents a gallon. So if you have a 500 gallon water tank (usually to be found for a bout $1k) it's $40 or so to fill it up. Set up rain catchment off any rooves you may have for irrigation so the trucked water is just for human use. When you consider it might cost $20-30,000 for a well going down over 500 feet required to hit the aquifer in the area, you can refil that tank a lot of times. Plus, it takes a lot of electricity to pump water 600' out of the ground.
Yep, it's a crapshoot for sure. My neighbor a mile and a quarter away the well is 270', mine is 48'. You instantly have a return on your investment as your property value went up considerably more than your new well cost. Boyfriend guy didn't seem near as excited for you as one should have been, you might consider trading up. This is a big deal, congratulations. Best regards from Indiana.
I am so excited for you ! I was so stressed out for you and it felt like I was right there with you ! Its going to be so exciteing to follow you on your wonderful adventure ! Thank you so much for shareing and i have a good feeling about your dreams for yourself ! Congratulations and God be with you !
OMG! I’m in tears because I’m so happy for you! We live in SW Colorado and we understand the need and the worry you were experiencing. I’m so very happy for you, all three of you! All the best to you in the coming new year! 32:16
So happy for you Linnea. I've watched your channel for years, since your beginning I think, and you've become quite the filmmaker. As I watched your video, I felt your stress, and your joy. May all your dreams come true.
OMG - I felt that stress with you. Congrats on sticking with it and going beyond your comfort zone. You'll have plenty of opportunities to stretch again as you build your dreams. Having water is such a huge relief.
Research swales.. they will collect any water when it rains in the trench area you dig and you plant trees along the raised part of the swales where you pile the dug up soil.. Also look up swales in Africa, and greening the desert.. this will give you perspective of what you can do in a dry land..
Congratulations!!!!Make sure to check what you can plant in your area. Cottonwood are not allowed in our area as they are invasive, have long roots that can damage structures, are brittle and obviously use copious amounts of water.
You put desert trees and desert plants in a desert you don't put Canada trees or fur trees cottonwood is the worst tree no good for anything can't even burn it margaret think of Hawaii trees from Hawaii are nice beautiful make yourself a Hawaiian beach be happy
OMG! What joyfully painful/stressful experience! I was crying tears of joy when I saw that water start to gush out! I love the journey you have embarked on and can’t wait to see you create your dreams! ❤ your channel!
Linnea, congratulations! Having drilled 2 wells on our property, I felt every moment of your angst and concern as if it were my own! Your storytelling was extraordinary in this video, as always. I was not at all surprised to find that I'm not the only one brought to tears when the water gushed! Again, congratulations! Your water dance paid off!
Girl. You have no idea how much this helped me. My very near future goal is to buy property in Joshua Tree desert in CA, off grid...and the "well" part was freaking me out. I was feeling your pain! I can only pray to have such a blessing as you have had in actually striking "gold"! Your property is stunning and I'm so very happy for you. This is a new beginning of wonderful things ahead. You deserve it all. Congratulations!!!
OMG!!! I felt every emotion when the water started flowing! Way to go, Linnea for not giving up!!! Super happy for you guys! I can't wait to see what you do with your land! ❤
WOW!! You never cease to amaze me. I'm here for the ride😊 All I can say is thanks to you and Chris I'm overjoyed to witness the journey 😊 Congratulations on striking liquid gold 😂😂🎉🎉
I'm happy water dancing right along with you guys! WhooHoo!! Find some natives trees that are drought tolerant for your wooded area. If there aren't trees on your property already, there's a reason why. Can't wait to see your projects.
It’s important to select plants that will thrive in a desert environment, as well as elevation-appropriate plants. It’s a good idea to create swales, detention basins, and install rainwater capture devices in order to lessen the dependence on well water, as our western underground aquifers need to continually recharge.
Oh my gosh, my first visit to your channel, what a fabulous episode, the stress, the waiting, then the success! I am so happy for you guys. Oh and Cottonwoods really do prefer a stream, creek or river. Not saying they won’t work, but you will need to be their river!
@linneaandakel I can only imagine how hard it must have been to keep your composure throughout this entire process and I am proud of you for doing so while taking this HUGE risk. I am so very excited for you Linea, and your new journey! Where there's water, there's life. God must have his eye on you and placed his favor upon your life, you are truly blessed. Stay humble and stay connected to his glory all around you. You've hit the liquid jack pot! Hooray!!! ❤
Congrats on your new well! I hope that setting the screen(s) and completion go well! 😎 When you get your water tested watch out for nitrates and boron. Love to you and Akela…🐕🎉
This video definitely brought me to tears when the water came through! Congratulations, I am so happy for you guys! VICTORY!!! Your dream is coming to life ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your experience here! Almost 2 years ago, I bought 35 acres in CO, and water has been my biggest concern. This video gives me a realistic view of what it takes physically, mentally, and financially to get a well in. I’m so excited for you!
This is so amazing!!!! When you ended with ‘this adventure has officially begun’, I got the biggest smile on my face. I was so relieved when you kept filming after your van build. And now there’s another new adventure on that gorgeous horizon!! ❤❤❤ Wishing you all so much success and an amazing New Year!!
You don't want Cottonwoods...the fuzz gets in all your screens on your house. Unless you don't plan on building a house. And just in every flower bed, garden, etc. Messy and lots extra work.
Great video...got 40 acres near show low...drilled the first day no water..contemplated to quit...next day hit water after 5' of drilling...Gods little trick...15 gpm...good water tested....Good luck...
Thank you for sharing this video. Really brought home the decisions one has to make to create their own place on the earth. We are really happy for you! We also appreciate that you shared the cost of drilling…..gives us a marker to pay similarly someday. We’re looking forward to watching the channel to see how you build this property into your paradise.
Oh my goodness, the joy i felt for you when that pipe started to flow! It sincerely brought a tear to my eye. I've lived rurally. I lived on a cistern and had my water trucked in. I've lived with a well that had terrible flow. I've also had to weigh the options of drilling a well, too. Congratulations on this new endeavor. I can't wait to see what you do in the future. Thanks for having me along.
