There once was a designer who wanted to do a retro comedy adventure game with a joke soundtrack paired with a programmer who wanted to do a survival horror game with retro puzzles in a mansion. The end product was this hybrid loony game. Thanks Kai!

Love the art style, the music, love the goofy aspect of it. This gives me strong Sierra Entertainment vibes with its weird 'no way to know this without looking it up' puzzles, but this whole game feels like a fever dream. Lol

I thinks, that is not a Resident Evil clone, it's Alone in The Dark clone, just because this game was released on 23 February 1996, lol.

There was also Doctor Hauzer in 1994 for 3DO, which reminds this a lot.

this feels like the developers wanted to make a child friendly version of Resident Evil. They replaced the horror and violence with humor and slapstick. Also the design of the main char reminds me of Lupin III.

Others are pointing out this is more akin to Alone in the Dark. It looks like a 3DO 3D game more than a Playstation or Saturn game from 96-97. By then we were getting 3D bangers like Crash, Tomb Raider 2, Sonic R, Burning Rangers, etc

How is this an RE clone when it came out a month before RE1 was first released? The Saturn version was published in 1997, but the PS1 version was February 1996. RE1 came out in Japan in March 1996 🥵

regarding translation, boku is like a 20 hour game that is all dialog and interaction, and has unique interactions in every location on every day, this game has probably about 3 pages worth of text, which even then wasn't really that well translated.

This seems fun in a frustrating way if that makes any sense! Another game with a similar vibe is '...Iru!' it's a horror adventure game with a first person perspective. It has puzzles, but to be honest you spend most of your time running around and entering rooms trying to make the other characters to appear so you can progress. 😅

Ngl, some of those cartoony injury scenes, like him nonchalantly walking out from under the murphy bed completely flattened, did make me giggle. But from the second you started playing, I could feel how frustrating those controls were - I think I'd have given up after about five minutes.

On what platform is this released? This is much more of alone in the dark game, rather than resi. It's very similar to the Alone games, it might be the same engine
