I remember reading some interesting details about Puffy. Splash Garden as a stage is built from Elliot's feelings of love for his mother, hence "the AFFECTION". I like to imagine she's a flourist/gardener or something. For some reason, water and the sea are said to be representations of motherhood in the NiGHTS dream world: "to a person with an oversized presence of his mother, the dream creates a raging stormy sea". These would be the sequences where NiGHTS is dragged along by the rapid tides. As the nightmare section of the same dream, Puffy is also a representation of Elliot's mother but in a negative way. Her long ears are supposed to represent the nosiness of an overbearing mother-figure and tendency to gossip (this is all from one of those official Japanese websites). Her unused line being "I'll embrace you with my body" suggests they were going for an oedipal complex kind of thing, hence her exaggerated burlesque design. You literally have to push her away to end the nightmare.
I have also heard of NIGHTS Into Dreams, and once again another game /i have not played. Of course the reason is because of me never owning any other gaming console when I was younger and me only being with the PlayStation consoles, but I don't regret growing up with the PlayStation consoles because I got to play some amazing games though.
It’s on my short list actually. But I have it slated for November. I want to finish Sega September and then I have spooky season games lined up like Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Luigi’s Mansion!
Oh yes I really like this game I actually have this game well I did on my Xbox via backwards compatibility I don't even know if I got it now they could have took it out of my library I never played it on the Sega Saturn even though I had one
Good video! Man, Sega always had some weird and magical worlds. This game is definitely no exception! I've only played the Saturn version a bit many years ago and it was quite fun! A lot of the mysteries you mentioned were new to me or I just had never thought about. There are plenty of amazing Sega games that leave a lot of questions unanswered. I'm curious what other Sega games you will cover this month. Ristar? Vectorman? Kid Chameleon? Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg? Golden Axe? Space Channel 5? Samba de Amigo? Super Monkey Ball?
@@jiggylookback I played a while on PS3 & PC Steam Version but would prefer the OG Saturn Version. I dunno there is something magical about this sega console :D
I actually didn't know that's how you trigger that thing falling out of Puffy's closet, I thought it was random like Jackle's guillotine (unless that's not random either).
I never played Nights in into dreams but it seems ahead of its time with genderless characters and I heard the main character is mostly neutral they were imprisoned by the villain but made an alliance with the children not because they care about them but they thought that the kids were the best way to win but nights is not seeking to inflict any sort of harm on the kids which I guess would make nights a truly neutral character
@@jiggylookback NiGHTS is actually "whatever the dreamer prefers" in regards to gender, so saying he is correct if that is what you prefer, same if someone is used to the JoD version when NiGHTS sounds more feminine and they call NiGHTS "she"
