Kenya! I had finally made it. For months I had heard tales in Tanzania of "more aggressive neighbors with strange English-mixed Swahili" to the north. Were these rumors true or just rumors? There was only one way to find out. I went straight to the capital, Nairobi, and went on a search for the soul of the city to see who the Kenyans really are.

I'm an American from Detroit. I love Nairobi!!!! It's hustle and bustle reminds me of a lot of American cities. And I have waited in that long line for a bus. Kenyans are some of the nicest people you will meet on the planet. Maybe I'm a little partial, because my wife is a Kenyan. But from my experience, I've come across nothing but friendly people. Even in the small villages.

Your swahili and that you are recording your experiences. However; you have done two things that makes me happy, the first one is that you have brought back some of the best memories in my life, 2nd, I can actually show other people how it is, without they thinking I am lying. Ohhhh man. How do I summarize my feelings in just a single comment? I was born and raised in the US, but I'm half Kenyan. I've went there to see my mom's family three times so far. I just discovered you today and seeing this video makes me so homesick, you have no idea. My family would go to Nairobi a few times on my vacation to just sightsee and eat, then we'd go back to the countryside to the family. Truly some of the most incredible parts of my life. I've been very fortunate that I've been able to travel so far at a young age. Anyway, I could gush about this wonderful country all day. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but eat plenty of samosas and mandazis. Also happened to skim through the video and caught that matako comment, how naughty. ;) Thanks for uploading these videos, they make me sad and happy and I love them

I can guarantee you that by the end of your visit to all Cities of East Africa, Nairobi will wow you. Kenyans are not different from Tanzanians or Ugandans. We are basically the same people with very similar temperament and demeanour. Obviously with capitalism, some level crime does evolve in a society of any citizenry and Nairobi is no different but, common sense precaution is advised especially if you venture into the downtown Nairobi. Other than that, your best weapon is your fluency of the Swahili language which not only makes the local to respect you instantly but also confuse them on where to place you. Even a prospective conman will think twice before they engage you the moment you speak in Swahili. As for the Luo Kikuyu thing, whoever told you that the two tribes don’t like each other, lied to you. Tribalism only manifests itself during Presidential elections and that too because of incitement from politicians but at the societal level, Kenyans get on very well.

True. Its shocking. This guy literally camps for a few days and he knows the local language, that's a true talent right there. That said, there is no greater place for Sabbatical to blend in as Kenya's language Sheng is basically Swahili with English thrown in.

You have come to Kenya already with the mindset that Kenyans are not friendly and that luo and Kikuyu's hate each other. I also see some Kenyans here talking about nairobbery. It's a shame seeing people lack self dignity and echoing what perception outsiders have about Kenya which is not entirely true. Kenyans stop the self hate it's really a pity. Luos and Kikuyus only have issues during elections time. Other times they are brothers and sisters. Decolonize your minds.
