@@Matt-vh2ci Makes sense, but as you said divi Filius refers to the god Julius Caesar instead of Mars, so I do wonder if Caesar would keep and base his claim of superiority through his self-created Cult of Mars instead of trying to adapt the general Roman pantheon. I would see though as to why not since he may have made things up to make his own simpler version of the Roman Empire. Personally though, it would be interesting if he didn't choose to be "Augustus Caesar" since Augustus was generally seen as the greatest and if not, at least one of the greatest emperors and the title of "Augustus" was seen as higher than "Caesar". Maybe Sallow's understanding of the Roman Empire is not as deep as we and especially he thinks?

@@antoniobautista6718 I wouldn't say that he has a bad understanding of the Roman Empire, maybe there aren't just enough sources available on the topic in the post apocalypse. He simply could have never read a book about Octavian, maybe he just read about Caesar's conquest of Gaul and his conquest of the Roman republic. Also the senate gave the title "Augustus" to Octavian, which at the time was called Julius Caesar as that was a condition of accepting Caesar's will. I also wonder if Caesar would make a senate out the ncr as a sort of synthesis of the two states. About the pantheon I think he will adopt the other deities after he conquers the ncr, the legion is now in a expansionist phase so it's logical to put Mars as the most important God. Also we must remember that according to the legion's religion it was Mars that wiped the slate clean so that his son Caesar could conquer and unite the world.

@@Matt-vh2ci True that as well. In a fashion very true to Augustus, Sallow has altered and changed past history to his liking in order for easy imperial control over the general populace. I do agree that it would definitely be interesting to see Caesar establish a Senate and how it would greatly affect the entire running of an entirely different type of governance. Instead of an entire slave legion, it would be a functioning house in which the land of Caesar would be represented and administrated by. I do also think it would make sense for him to include the other Roman gods and expanded the Cult of Mars, maybe it could help ever further with legitimizing the position of emperor in his Nova Imperium Romanum? Great insight and discussion with you by the way, would definitely want to see any other people's input on the matter as well.

@@antoniobautista6718 I wouldn't say that his style is similar to Augustus, during his time as emperor Octavian always tried to convince everyone that he was just the first citizen of the republic (with a lot of influence over the government), that is why he started the period called the principate. After the crisis of the third century emperors became more autocratic and looked more like kings, that period is called the dominate because emperors gained the title dominus, which means lord, a title that Augustus hated. I would argue that in universe sallow had very few sources about Rome, so he doesn't have a very clear picture of the Roman Empire, that is way he calls himself Caesar and acts like and emperor (even though Caesar was never one, just a dictator)

Wrong, that system was not used by the Roman EMPIRE. What you described was the system of the legion before Gaius Marius reformed it in later years of the Republic.

Caesar probably didn't do the tactics himself that's why he has legates

The problem with the Legion is that Caesar's army is loyal to him, not to his ideals. Therefore the Legion will collapse once he dies. And since the Legion's lands are free from raiders and feral ghouls, it will be very easy for the NCR to expand into Arizona and New Mexico.

Honestly I think he's just a autocratic with delusions of grandeur. He has a good vocabulary but no shit. He was one of the privileged in the ncr. Anyone with a real education sounds like that to people in the wasteland. I just don't think he has any idea how to set up a proper infrastructure. So he just told them technology is banned. You can easily think of Ceasar as someone with an education and trained his charisma. Yet only set up the legion as a band of brutal savages because he's to egotistical to admit he'd need help making something that isn't guys in Roman cosplay throwing spears

Only issue is that house doesn’t care for anywhere outside the strip, only time his securitrons leave is for his interest of monitoring or fighting off enemy forces, Vegas wouldn’t be safer but it would increase the security and power of the strip itself

@@primary2630No it really is just that stupid, the institute are comically evil, Shaun doesn't care about his parent while he claims to do so since he let you out as an 'experiment' and fully expected you to die, then he names you his successor which is laughable, someone who's practically a complete stranger to him and isn't a scientist and is an outsider is named the leader against the protest of the others. The institute is filled with scientists doing their own little projects but for zero purpose, they claim they wanted to help the commonwealth at first but it was a lost cause, them 'helping' was sending a synth to murder representatives of settlements who wanted to form their own government, even though they state they've given up on the rest of humanity they still murder and replace ppl with synths, why? No reason. They're the very epitome of 'We'll do whatever we want just cause we can'. Also why does Shaun pretend to hate Kellogg? Without him he wouldn't have become the leader of the institute? He clearly doesn't care about his parents so he wouldn't want revenge, Kellogg was just a tool to the institute.

The average NCR soldier has a rifle, some basic armour, ammo pouches, a helmet, and presumably other misc kit a soldier would have. Anything less and they would be terribly under equipped, which they already are to an extent. It's not like every soldier has a pipboy and a suit of power armour.

NCR Troopers have the same equipment as prime legionaries. the difference is that legionaries have to earn their equipment while the NCR, by the time of New Vegas, are sending conscripts with 2 weeks of basic training who essentially are fodder for the better trained troops.

Vulpes Inculta has his uses but he could never be Caesar let alone the Legate. Caesar knows how to be a leader more than anyone in the Legion which is why they're so lost when he is killed.

​@@arintheseatsesh6242Vulpes is the only one that would have the brains and knowledge to lead. From battle tactics to intelligence tactics. He would have been taught most of it by Caesar, then no doubt researched more from ancient texts and holotapes being an intelligence gatherer. He wouldn't need to take Lanius out, Lanius was never interested in being Caesar. Lanius just lives to be a front line warrior. Vulpes is the only real logical successor. The only one that could really organise the Legion and know what he's doing.

​@@colddaze6680Lucius is the only real moderate candidate we see. But vulpes could not lead a NV era legion. He and the entire frumentarii and generally distrusted and disliked by much of the legion. It's Caesars will that stops them from being killed. They are loose with their adherence to Caesarian doctrine and mingle with profligates and foreign tribes. Vulpes was nearly crucified before Caesar saved him. He isn't not a people person but he's not the leader type of people's person. He doesn't appear to have that confidence and bombast you need from a dictator of a bunch of reconditioned tribals. Vulpes could definitely form a triumvirate of power with Lanius as the head, lucius as the body stopping the other two from killing eachother and Vulpes as the brain and potential main source for any sort of reform. Nonetheless the point is Vulpes requires Caesars protection, without it he is under constant danger from paranoid and mentally repressed legionaries and centurions. Remember though its significantly implied there are other Legates in the legion. While these are the big three and the presumptive successors they are not the only ones just like irl just because Caesar died Gnaeus Pompeius and the conspirators were still factors in the succession of roman authority requiring two civil wars to subdue and lots of negotiating and even then the triumvirate broke down leading to its own civil war.

Arguably, without the couriers intervention Caesar would fall victim to his illness. A bloodthirsty Lanius heading the Legion would surely lead to a disadvantagous assault on the dam, as he isn't headstrong in battle tactics, more so just brute killings. Bids for power amongst the legion would also break out, causing the overall military unit to be weakened just as the NCR is weakened through civilian military units, low morale, and lack of effective equipment. Overall, I believe house has the greatest chance of winning, but again that is subject to the courier. FNV is such a good game in that all three parties are equally disadvantaged, and our actions directly turn the tide for whatever party we side with!

@awnash9223 if that was what Caesar was planning, it's most likely he told no one. So we're looking at a Ned stark being Lord Regent after Robert's death type situation. Lanius being cersei of course. Lol The legion itself with their views would see the courier as a weak profligate, needing chems and guns and ammo to do his fighting. As the courier, we may gain the respect of the legion, but we ultimately leave it's ideals behind once we leave the fort and get all our drugs back 💀

@@mindlessdillan House himself calculates 70% chance for legion victory. He doesn't even know most of the three families are betraying him. He would get nothing done without the courier. Chief Hanlon also admits that the NCR is likely going to lose. What's more, without the courier, Ulysses will bomb Long 15. With Long 15 destroyed, no more supply lines for the NCR. The NCR is already having trouble holding the Mojave because The Divide route became unusable. They are undermanned and undersupplied. If they lose Long 15 too, then it's pretty much over. As for leadership, Lanius is more than just a blood thirsty brute. He talks about how this war is making their eastern borders soft, and he can even be convinced to rearm. This shows that he looks at the legion at a larger scope, not just a brute fighter. There will be no bid for military power, at least not until the comment above's concern is over(2nd battle for the dam). This is because Lanius is seen as a great hero, like a living Hercules. The legion admires, respects, and fears him. They will follow him to battle for sure, and win that second battle. If anything, it's the ncr and house that's having trouble in leadership. Chief Hanlon and General Lee Oliver don't get along and don't even see eye to eye for tactical planning. Oh and, their president will die. Democracy means that'd be a time for political parties to compete. On the other hand, House's allies are backstabbing him, and pretty successfully at that without the courier's intervention. And just to really hammer down Legion victory without the courier's intervention, the Legion are pretty successful in winning over the tribes and turning them against the NCR. Even tribes/gangs that aren't allied with the ncr are fighting the ncr.

Manpower doesn't win wars. Resources and equipment do. Without crippling the NCR's only other supply line into the Mojave the Legion would never be able to survive a prolonged conflict.

Had Graham's tactic didn't false as a result of it leading to Hanlan's Boulder City Strategy working. Not to mention that the Brotherhood of Steel had superior weaponry and a grounded in defense at Helios One, what let the NCR win against them was what? Superior numbers, this is stated constantly that the NCR was able to throw more bodies at the problem. Now the NCR is dealing with the same tactic, The Legion has much more bodies to throw at the NCR than the they can deal with, even with them getting more troops and Rangers in Camp McCarran. Hell they can't even deal with the Fiends let alone The Legion. You have no idea what you're talking about.

@@misternibbles7426 My personal belief is they lost the second battle and were forced to focus more on California and less on other states, but plan to return when they finally get rid of their corruption and get a new competent president who doesn't give brahmin barons power (maybe even a civil war would happen?). If House won then they may never return seeing him as more of a bonus than a threat, his robots when upgraded are op, if the Legion won then they might be forced on the defensive, but the Legion cannot conquer California, its logistically impossible. I'd say the same thing about the NCR only to a lesser degree, they might be able to make it to Flagstaff if they invade the Legion, but that's about it. Legion will make it far but won't make it to Shady Sands. Only internal conflict will destroy either nation. And if Yes Man won.. well, that's the least likely victory out of them all. Anarchy doesn't last long.

@@generaltobias3777 I kind of agree. The NCRs incompetence is their downfall. They have the manpower, economy and industry to take the dam. However, the legion seems to be in a better spot than the NCR during NV, but I don't think they can hold it. I totally agree that House and Yes Man are basically non-factors, specifically Yes Man.

I've noticed that his videos are Stereo, so if you're running '5.1' or something like that, one of the channels could be bad If that's not it, could just be an oddity for External Speakers vs Headphones. Try doing an Audio Troubleshoot, or opening your Realtek Console (assuming you're on windows, and not using branded speakers)

In headphones he is clear as a bell and for some odd reason the majority of his Audio is coming from my right Rear speaker as it appears to be not functional after a sound test. Speaker is fine as I swapped it out to a forward right and it worked fine on the test Just the right rear chnl is down. Normally Sound is primarily on the center and forward Left and right speakers so yeah something screwy happened here.

This actually isn't the case for the NCR, there's a lot of corruption but the people still hold the exact control ass seen by when you bring evidence about the destruction of Cass's caravan. It's corrupt sure but it's not to the point of oligarchs ruling in a shadow council

Dictatorship is order and stability, even more so with Mr. House. NCR as we've seen in NV is far from stable and orderly. Brotherhood is for the most part stable, but only in their bunkers. I don't think he ever says the Legion is better he acknowledged slavery and how the cruelty of the Legion is a hard price to pay for the order that the Legion brings. But I do remember him saying Mr. House was the best choice for the Mojave, which is arguably true.

@generaltobias3777 No Mr house cares only about himself and his plan to go into space with NO resources is ludicrous. And even if he improves life for the mohavi then what happens for the rest of the west coast or even America. He just leaves them to their fates. That's not helpful. Plus, he can get into a coma again with a simple malfunction. As many problems as democracy has, to quote admiral Halsey from the orville 'all other forms of government are even worse. Over countless years and nations, it is the best system anyone has ever come up with to ensure the strong don't dominate the week, at least not for very long.' Raven knight has an excellent video explaining why Mr house's plan fails but I will say that he is the second best option that can easily be improved with a few twicks. The Ncr is like America in Vietnam or Russia in Ukraine, War fatigued and demoralised, but does this mean they are not powerful, HELL NO. All they need is a little help and you can give it to them so they can help other people.

The NCR isn't stable or orderly at all though. It's heavily implied to be a corrupt plutocracy with an inflated currency, deteriorating climate, and more dangerous roads than the ones in the Legion.

@Soyu-Sojojarkkii You know it's amazing you are wrong in every single word you said. I mean, nothing was right, to quote kermit. First of nothing you said is denied. The economy is inflated because the war with the brotherhood destroyed their gold reserves. The war with the Legion certainly didn't help either. Second, the roads are dangerous because the Legion and the Fiends that work with them continue to harass caravans. And yes, recently, some personnel in the administration have been promoted due to political backing and not their skills (looking at you, General Oliver). However, there are people who are capable and resourceful, like Colonel Hsu or ambassador Crooker, who just want to help the people and are willing to put differences with mortal enemies aside for the greater good. Now if the Ncr wins the war in the mohavi the economy can thrieve again due to uninterrupted and safe trade. As for the climate, I hope you mean the political climate and not the literal climate, because that's not an excuse. Bottom line if you don't help the Ncr they will not survive in the Mohavi but they will still survive. The other parties will collapse due to their shoresideness and internal problems.

@nikoskn1252 I'm completely right, though. The cause of the NCRs inflation doesn't matter. it's still a destabilizing issue impacting the NCRs economy and society. It's also heavily implied in-game by Dale Barton that the roads in the NCR are far less safe than the ones in Legion held territories like Arizona, including NCR roads outside of the Mojave warzone where the fiends and Legion have no influence. "Between having to hire protection and getting slapped with taxes, it's more profitable to stick to Arizona and New Mexico. But, I do cross the river from time to time when an opportunity comes along". There's no sign that the leadership in the NCR are going to improve either. By the time the events of NV take place, important members of the NCR military like Chief Hanlon are demoralized enough with the civilian leadership to actively sabatoge the war effort.
