The Neo80. It's the latest from QwertyKeys and honestly one of the prettiest boards they have released in my eyes! It has a classic design, with thin side bezels and an elegant side profile. What it really has going for it though is it's wild amount of mounting styles, catch ball enclosure and the POGO daughter board (no cables, woo!)

I think the bottom row empty sound can be improved by adding different components like O-ring + Gasket strip, also their discord seems to mention that the strange sound of the O-ring is due to the sample PCB too close to the ball-catch system , which has actually been fixed in their final mass product. But there are always good and bad rankings for offering so much choice, it all depends on personal preference, and it's exciting that keyboards like this to offer more options for people who are new to the hobby. Thanks to the great review again Alex！

Considering that we were looking at the Tiger80 Lite last year and now this is only a bit more without accounting for inflation. I'm a huge fan of the ball-catch quick release since having it in the Jris75. Rebuilding is so much easier.

Already ordered a JRIS80... Now I want a neo80... Is there any point in getting another TKL? (I like the JRIS80 aesthetics) (If I do get a neo80.. I think I'll try solder for the first time and go plateless..)

@@gudboic1208 If you do not need the F keys, then is it perfect. not cumbersome at all. maybe 2 inches wider than a neo65. Before the 70, I have over used 60/65's and this sizing does not bother me at all.

Yes please more magnetic connectors please! The biggest reason why I didn't get this was due to the rotated switch positions on the hotswap PCB. I could learn to solder, but then I don't feel I want this that badly.

As someone who just learned soldering, it's really not that bad. Get a Pine64 Pinecil soldering iron, and you can do soldering with just a usb-c cable. The higher power your charging brick, the higher your possible soldering temperature.

Are you sure the copper weight has a coating? I was under the impression that it didn't. I also plan to patina mine, but I don't know how I'd strip the coating if it is indeed coated :(

I don’t think it does since it warns of oxidization but don’t take my word for it

They state it does have a light coating but warn against touch it too often in my notes. I have had my hands all over the weight all week and spot no signs of obvious patina like i would have had from regular non coated weights.

I really wish this one had an attractive design. The side profile is really awful to me especially for a Neo keyboard when the Neo70 and Neo65 looked fine.

Cycle 7 started at 139 dollars, so cycle 8 could start around that.

Last I read they still haven't shipped most of the cycle7 orders, not a great look. Also if it's anything like the cycle7 I don't think they shpport VIA/QMK on the trimode PCB like Neo boards which is a complete failure IMO. Personally don't see the interest in the cycle boards when the Neo and QK boards exist and you can get them ordered and shipped to you in 4 weeks or less.

this Neo80 is very easy falling the bottom down when you pick the top, not good for a heavy board TKL. 65 is fine

cycle8....hands down lol. between both, idk man, qk80 looks much better, tkl tends to be boring, but neo80 is looks even more plain, not bad but to me just a decent looking. But the price and innovations is slaps, so you'd never go wrong going to Neo. If F-row is not a priority, I much prefered neo70

I haven't had a board were I prefer an O-ring mount. In my opinion that mounting style needs to go.

o-ring mount only bad on Neo...I loves o-ring mount boards for years. I mean, look at those high ends, unikorn, tgr 910, tomo, jane, and lots of others offers o-ring mount or top mount. Neo just can't get it right yet
