RLM gets my respect over all other channels. Their opinion is their own, they'll like good big movies, hate some small ones, there's not enough consistency among their reviews for you to call them contrarian. Their reviews are in depth without being painfully long, their personalities gel so well together and they aren't afraid to be honest. Compare them to other channels that suck on the ass of huge movies for mass idiot appeal, or praise bad indie movies for not being big, or have awful people hosting. Thank god for RLM, keep it up guys.
war machine youre all over the comment section what are you defending at this point? the movie? or your faveorite reviewers? at least they didnt get paid by atending some fancy star wars event like every other channel
Otto Von Skidmark That doesn't make these fanboy channels any less childish or unprofessional. Don't make a movie review channel if all you're gonna do is say "I liked it, fuck the haters"
A horny Cat lol I'm shedding light on common misconceptions: 1) that RLM actually provides legitimate cases against a film's quality and 2) that the Phantom Menace is a bad movie. otherwise, I'm here for the same reason everyone else is: to have fun and discuss things.
It's obvious from watching the review shows Red Letter Media was referring to, that they were playing an act to make the movie look as good as possible. In other words, it wasn't even their true opinion, their opinions was bought by the movie companies. You can't disagree or agree with a fake opinion to begin with.
War Machine When you review crap movies it tend to get negative and there's a lot of crap movies being made by corporate suits with already made formulas. That's the reality today, they are just being honest about it unlike most bought hacks.
Otto Von Skidmark You mean: it's the globalists? And of course I got the documents. The evidence is in the pudding and whenever there are a lot of money involved you can almost guarantee foul play.
The word you're looking for is marketer or "shill", RLM aren't even journalists, they're critics, and damn good ones. But yeah, RU-vid should step up it's game if it wants to replace old media, you have to make better, more accurate work, not blatant pandering BS.
Well, it always sucked, it's just now people have the time to appreciate how bad it was, like the prequels. Hey... maybe Disney is following the tradition of star wars Lucas set down after all.
***** yeah... it was a terrible movie. Perhaps not prequel level, but it's pretty pathetic. It's actually embarrassing that so many people liked it. Oh well, not a star wars fan anymore because it sucks. Enjoy the convincing yourself the disney verse isn't god awful.
there the best star wars film there better than all of other star wars films they um have nice Vistas they are a ray of hope I loved the force awakenes now I hate the force awakens they add layers to the mythos
sometimes when I'm feeling down, I'll watch Screen Junkies or Collider, and immediately feel better about myself for seeing so many more pathetic adults.
Eh it changes on the personality. Dan Murrel and several others on those channels have my respect and seem quite intelligent with their analysis. Spencer Gilbert is quite the contrarian but now that Andy is gone screen junkies is quite nice
Id say that goes for anyone who obsesses over anything owned by a multi-billion dollar corporation. It just feels weird to see people love whats clearly a corpse thats being reanimated and propped up to whore itself out to us by its pimp, Mickey Mouse.
So you don't follow the series, but you do follow the cultural influence it has on the internet and such? So you're a sci fantasy cultural anthropologist?
Star Wars fanboys who hate this video clearly don't get 1.) Irony 2.) Sarcasm 3.) Humor 4.) Bias Critique 5.) Bias critics being bought by studios to post glowing reviews of said studio's movies 6.) Bias critics trying to fight back their true feelings towards bad Star Wars films because they don't want to make studio angry and 7.) It.
I don't care if Rogue One is good or if you like it, you all know the youtube assholes talking about it are shilling hard. Even if I don't agree with RLM (which happens) I always can carry the knowledge that they're genuinely thinking what they say and not just parroting or shilling out.
I liked when Darth Vader choked the guy cause that's what he did in that movie I saw A New Hope. I love seeing the same things I've seen before. That's why I gave TFA 10/10.
You have to admit Disney has controlling the media down. Wine and dine your critics and they'll make sure to keep the praise coming as long as they keep getting invitations to exclusive parties.
It got a lot easier when waves of their fan base starting paying attention to pathetic man/woman children. Send them a pizza roll in the mail and they'll say whatever you want. And for some reason people absorb the shit content. Wake up sheeple!
I’ve been watching and re-watching RLM for the last two years. But I avoided the Nerd Crew shows; never watched one until this. “I don’t need to see satire like that, it’s going to be over the top and silly,” I thought. I had no idea that the shows they are parodying are THIS BAD. How can this be real? Who watches this? The parody is barely a parody. They really do act like this. I am stunned.
Honestly, 90% of the time on these awful channels the women are the most genuine and self-aware out of the group, because they didn’t start the stupid channel with their own egos and aren’t as grifty and aggressive.
It's amazing what happens when you take quotes out of context for the sake of comedy. In the actual video he's referring to Michael Giachino's score, not the movie as a whole.
A mass of brain dead advertisement huffers who are just into things because they are trendy at the moment and never because they actually like it, they are the scum of the earth, they try hard to fit in and when they do fit in they start making changes (sometimes just by being there) and when said thing is finally ruined and no longer popular they move on to parasite on whatever gets trendy next, its a pretend game they play to socialize with other normies to look hip, to look smart, to look this to look that, they always have superficial intentions but with serious consequences, star wars, star trek, lord of the rings, videogames, america, france, rock n roll, the great barrier reef and the enviroment are all famous casualties to the normie threat.
How can anyone hate on RLM? They're the funniest guys ever. And they've been doing this long before Collider or any other hacks. I'm from India and I love these three guys (and the other two ones also) from Wisconsin. PS: It's funny how it was ScreenJunkies who introduced me to RLM through their Honest Trailer.
Max Scoville “it’s not my favorite Star Wars film ever, i saw it three times in 72 hours. It’s better to look at it than to watch”. Excuse me what? Lol
The line, "It's great to watch, it's better to look at," ( 9:40 ) really does well to highlight the worrying stupor of these halfwits who think they're actually critiquing a film. I mean, you have to laugh, but it's frightening sometimes to see what Star Wars has done to these poor creatures.
Any video that takes the wind out of the Cottage Industry that is Star Wars minutiae RU-vid Nerd channels gets an upvote from me. It was hilarious that right after the teaser trailer for Ep. 8 came out, it was every channel repeating the same shit, the same reaction videos, same stuff but with perhaps different thumbnails; all of them literally adding NOTHING of value for the fan and nothing new that couldn't be seen at the official Star Wars channel. Oh well.
This brings back memories when the nerd crew was the first video I’ve seen of rlm and thought they meant this for real at first. It took a few minutes.
When i take the piss out of Ghostbusters (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6L8Q0OODhoI.html) nobody panics. But I do two mashups on Rogue One and everyone loses their minds! Shorty and I are working on new ideas, if you don't like this kind of video, don't watch.
red letter media have always kept it real and that's why their stuff is always more entertaining, you know for a fact that the others are to scared to say what they truly think
Wow, this is a very good side-by-side comparison for those who maybe didn't quite get all the sarcasm from RedLetterMedia's video. This is great, thanks for your effort putting this together.
Mark Ellis - he's one of the biggest shills out there. He almost never says anything negative during a review of these kinds of movies. Always looks like he's trying to please his 'friends' in the business.
I think there is confusion from people outside the RLM bubble that think we like RLM because they shit on Star Wars. No, we like RLM because they are honest in their reviews. Nothing they say or do comes off as corporate or shill worthy behavior. It's not as if they exclusively say negative things about Star Wars in their reviews either. Rich Evans loved Solo of all films. Mike and Jay goof on Marvel movies but if you actually go back and watch their Half in the Bags they tend to review Marvel films positively probably a little over half the time. They point out the good and bad which I think is in opposition to this idea from people that don't like RLM who think they're relentlessly negative.
In an age of self glorification and refusal to accept responsibility of mistakes, we need more people taking the piss out of one another, themselves included. Also, damn good editing, wish all the stuff I wanted to like could manage the same... Myself included. You've earned yourself a subscriber.

I know this is years old, but it's people like the Disney shills RLM parodies that make me hate ever being into Star Wars, even now after my interest and enjoyment of the franchise have beaten down into the dirt by Last Jedi and everything else after.
Thank you for doing this. I never watched these pop culture podcasts, so I missed the reference to the Nerd Crew episodes. It works better when you get what is being made fun of.
I rarely agree with RLM's reviews, but they are entertaining as hell. And you have have to give them credit for having their own opinions and calling people on their bullshit. It's just so damn satisfying!
this was/is fucking epic. my only criticism is that I didn't know who any of the other "lame as fuck hacks" were that RLM were taking the piss out of. And the way you edited this...it's brilliant but if I didn't know RLM...it would just kinda look like one big SW circle Jerk. it's scary how well RLM parodied those other channels. how the hell do those other hacks have any followers? the Star Wars universe is doomed with zombie fans luke that. FML
First off these aren't traditional critics, but by and large are fans who started doing youtube videos about the movies they loved. Their channels got big enough that now they have full time jobs doing these things. I'm sure when you are already a huge fan, and suddenly people take your opinion seriously and invite you to a big premiere, it is going to make you feel more positively about that experience. Disney knows what they are doing. Do you think if Disney wanted to send me to a Star Wars premiere I would turn them down? To say they are on Disney's payroll is just not true. I don't think they are lying about their opinion to give a better score. I think they are not separating the experience of a primiere from the movie itself and it is affecting the scores they give on the reviews. I honestly don't think they even realize that subconsciously Disney is working them to get a better score.
@@theman37379 The funny things is half of those guus lost their jobs already. Guess you can only shill for so long before people catching up to what you are doing xD.
Thank you for this. I've been a huge fan of RLM but a lot of the references in their last video I missed so thank you for collating them and putting them in this video.
Fantastic editing, so great to make the comparisons. I don't really have a problem with people's different opinions about the film. But, what really gets me is how biased everything seems. We got to go to the premiere ..... of course we're not payed off!!!!
@C the difference being that channels such as screenjunkies are paid off by Disney to give only positive reviews, which misleads the people that follow them, but they don't care because they get paid. It's pretty scummy to treat your audience like that. RLM will often say what they liked about movies, or what they think a movie could've done better if they're critiquing that film. RLM are true movie nerds and love the art and craft of making movies Screenjunkies are corporate shills that probably wouldn't talk about star wars nearly as much if they weren't given money and gifts to do so
Problem with media today---they exchange fast and overreaction over accurate and fair review. I prefer a review that came a week late but not blinded by hype and not under corporate influences, over one that came the day off
hey film gob. i actually appreciate what you've done with this video. i saw the rlm spoofcast with no context- and you've provided the context here in a fun way. super duper
I remember when he started out, it was pretty funny the way he trashed the movies he didn’t like with his tag line “I’m Jeremy and I’m not f**king around!!” Kind of a ripoff of Angry Nerd Rant/Reviews, but still had his own twist to it. He always talked like he was in high school, but it used to be funnier. Now it’s not. At least if you’re out of high school it’s not.
These "critics" are clearly shills that are bought out by their sponsors. None of their points or critiques seem genuine at all, yet people will defend these hacks just because they have a positive opinion on something that they like.
I'll defend them because I think they are being genuine with their opinions. I've watched enough of their videos to have seen when they don't like a movie, and they tend to let it be known. Most of these guys are huge Star Wars fans, so it is easy to get caught up in the hype especially when they are invited to the premiere. I've loved every Star Wars movie on an opening night in the theater surrounded by fans (except TLJ). It was only later upon repeated viewing that the flaws really stood out to me. It is the magic of movies, if you love them, it is human nature to tend to gloss over the flaws. Love and fandom are irrational and illogical things. I don't think these guys are all "bought" by sponsors (well maybe IGN is). LOL
Great! Thank you for the video. I finally know what RLM was making fun of... I grew up with Star Wars... When I was an older kid... They were just those "space" movies that came out 10 years ago... I had a VHS cassette I taped off a TV Broadcast... They would randomly play on TV on a Sunday Afternoon... And you only knew one person who had them on Laser Disk.... And it was annoying cause you had to flip the disk... Now all these RU-vid Geek Culture aficionados seem to phony to me....
Even if I enjoyed Rouge One. I definitely knew what it was back then. It’s so funny to look back on how corporate stuff already was getting even back then
to be perfectly I honest I really enjoyed my time with rogue one. Didn't care too much for the characters themselves but as an action film it was hugely enjoyable but I made the point in seeing it in 4DX. That greatly enhanced the experience for me. I seen TFA once in cinemas and in D- Box and loved it but seeing it a second time in the house felt it was just... awrite. There is a great deal to enjoy in both TFA and Rogue 1.
ADAMSKI BEAT I disliked TFA the moment Rey did the mind trick. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall however it had fun scenes and the feeling of adventure. Rogue One blew it all out of the water.
