Thank you for starting with just a solid color tank. It really helps people like me , who don’t have airbrushes, see how the pencils can really enhance a build. A lot of other videos use a model with 5 layers that already is better than I could ever do, and don’t really even needs the pencil work.

I've worked out the best way to use these over the week and only used them to weather a build! It was a test subject but it's come out stunning so life like! The blending and washes you can also do with these is amazing! I sharpen the tips just lay them down and use my brushes with a bit of water on the brush it'll end up creating a groove in the pencil with the brush but that's the way you want to use them! They have now replaced my oils there even better than oils! Big claim but true!

great review but can I ask a question. do you think they will be good for the smaller scale model, by having more control and been able to make a sharp point.

These I want! I sometimes use Prisma pencils, these would be a good option

been using pencils and shading stomps from tamiya and man....the effects!

Nice review Andy 👍 Good sets and lots of useful colors but not a product I would use often. However, when I do, I will use pencils from the art store - less expensive, great variety of colors.

THESE WORK GREAT ON SMALL MODELS AND MINIATURES

Ive been using Tamiya weathering kits for a couple years. I think Ill give these a try.

Pretty standard watercolor aquarell pencils in a fancy packaging. Can buy Faber Castells set for the same effects. Been using the method for some time now, and it's pretty nifty :)

Well I'm just not sold on these at all, in my experience acrylic washes take so much time to build up to an acceptable depth, and as the previous poster says pencils are a lot cheaper. Oil washes using the dot method are to my mind an easier option. Suppose things change and manufacturers need to come up with new ways to get us to part with or money, but this time not for me .

I will say this about AK. Their marketing division is good. Standard soft watercolour pencils, repacked and marketed towards modellers! 99.7% of everything that is used by modellers can be found at your local "good/high" quality art store. My club seems to navigate toward these things due to the fact that its all in one box and they don't have to hunt and research for what they need. Expensive. 3 for one pencil! WOW. I can get some good quality pencils for half that price! A tip for all of us. Take a trip to your local art store and experiment with what you can get. Some things are cheaper but sometimes you can get a good deal.

These sound the same as what you can get in the art store to me. Water color or ink pencils at the art store work great as well. Like Derwent Inktense pencils. I have been using them and similar pencils for years. And they are much cheaper. Good video. Thanks for sharing...

Can you touch them after they dried? Can you overspray them with a varnish or a colour?

Do these pencils re-activate after dry or can you only activate them once? Thanks!

How do they take an acrylic varnish on top?

Might get them, definitely seems easier than using acrylics

Can I apply an acrylic varnish after using the pencils? Im worried about messing it all up since acrylic varnishes uses a water base

I like how they're water based. Anything that cleans up with water is a big plus!

Would you recommend this for someone that builds gunpla/robot model kits?

Very good review of the pencils. I was very skeptical about using them but after seeing your demonstration I feel a lot better wanting use them now. Thanks for the great videos.

I have the metallic set there no great and you will need a wee dish of water AKs video tutorial on them fornthe streaking effects is brilliant! He just wets the pencil and does a whole rusted barrel with oil streaks running down I copied his tutorial to see how to blend them and use them with water there pretty good! But really do nothing much without a dab of water! My artist pastels do exactly the same job same effect and way the work that's all they are but in pencil form!

A great video, but like lots of others they have been hijacked by political fundraising ads. So, we'll give it a break for about 6 weeks. Don't care who or which side it's for. If I wanted to watch political ads, I would !!! The web is great that way.
