The New Base 2024 Subaru WRX's Have an OUTRAGEOUS Price Increase...
I honestly am starting to feel like no one can afford a new WRX, and Subaru went for it, they increased the price for the base 2024 WRX to what you would pay for a 2022 Limited WRX. Just goes to show the VB WRX is going to be a rollercoaster for the next couple of years until we see the next generation STI.

Subaru salesperson and '04 & '22 WRX owner here. MSRP increase is primarily due to the screen and eyesight. Since I've been working for Subaru, year for year, their cars typically increase only $400ish. If you're wanting a VB WRX, NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY! Go snatch up those '23s before theyre gone! They currently have great financing rates, and dealers are more likely to discount them to get them gone before the '24s!
@caryg4638
@caryg4638 6 месяцев назад
Not really. The 22-23 wrx has a structural flaw in the rear suspension area which is being addressed in the 24 model with extra reinforcement. You can help this some in the aftermarket with bracing, but it’s better to get this from the factory. Ask me how I know that there is one-I own one too and I have seen bending in the chassis on hard cornering.

@@caryg4638 That's concerning. Do you have further details or spots to look up on this topic? As the owner of a 2023, that's something I need to be aware of.

@@findango I wouldn’t worry about it unless you take corners semi-hard and hit bumps a good bit. If you do, I would sort it out with chassis bracing. I have a Cusco rear diff carrier (great mod), a Cusco rear subframe brace, and a nameless performance rear strut tower bar. Note: I have mitigated it entirely by using a nameless performance “rear” strut bar in the trunk. I previously had a Cusco rear OS quick release bar, but I didn’t find it stiff enough. Ironically though, that bar helped me find the problem when I didn’t tighten it enough and I heard the bar moving up and down on the connector during hard and soft cornering, which let me know that there is a lot of play in the chassis and bending. It is also something you can feel if you have a bar versus not having one. The difference is night and day. As to the chassis bending flaw, Subaru just confirmed it for me when they said they were making the updates. The nameless performance bar, however, being a solid piece of steel, completely made the rear of the chassis as solid a rock. It feels like a bmw now.
@caryg4638
@caryg4638 5 месяцев назад
@@findango want my advice: if you like the car and want to keep it, do the mods I mentioned above, but also get the front nameless performance strut tower bar and the Cusco power member under the front suspension too (subimods will help), if you want to fix everything. Chassis bracing is an important but overlooked mod. It’s actually the best, right in front of drivetrain mods. My brother has a vb too, and we’ve done identical mods for it, and he’s even spent thousands more in performance mods, only to agree that the chassis bracing and drivetrain mods were the best. They transform the car.

Eyesight, infotainment and inflation are all the deciding factors. I know a lot of people are saying that they dont want eyesight especially on the base but any company that adds a safety mechanism like eyesight and doesn't add it to all trims across the model is judged based on the lowest equiped. Same reason why the last gen crosstrek didnt get a higher score because led hedlights were only offered on the limited so the current gen offers led lights across all trims and now Subaru doesnt even make halogen headlights anymore. Plus it's more cost effective to have one production line rather then a separate line, they did this to the outback onyx edition near the end before the refresh with just adding the optional navigation as standard.

I just put a deposit on base '23 with the SPT transmission--listed at $31,600. Managed to haggle the lease payment down, too. I'm happy. The non-GT SPTs are rare birds, for the '23 MY. And I haven't seen ANY '24s with the SPT listed, anywhere (yet)... even GTs. So, who knows if they'll even produce the SPTs in lower trims for '24--and they're probably gonna be more than I wanna pay, anyhow. But... there are still deals out there on '23s, if you're in the market.

I bought '23 WRX Premium on 12/30 and got a great deal. Paid $32,5 vs $37 sticker price. It’s a big one-year jump but if you look at prices farther back, I bet current pricing makes sense relative to inflation… and they’re just catching up in a single year. Especially accounting for offering a lot more features than in decades past. But obviously there are issues for everyone with inflation, affordability of any new car, and also the competitiveness of what Subaru performance offers relative to the market.

I honestly don't even factor in infotainment stuff on cars anymore. There's so many options that deliver drastically better technology, sound quality and just all around flexibility. OEM's job is to save money on everything, unless you paid for their sound system upgrade. Even then, if you paid for it with your vehicle all new, half that upgrade cost could still get you a better aftermarket audio solution.

The ‘24s are getting Eyesight which is the main reason for the price hike. If not for that they’d not have changed anything else (probably). Apart from that I completely agree; I’ve been ranting about this since I first heard. I really wish they hadn’t added Eyesight to the Base, that was a bad idea for all the reasons stated in this video. Increasing the price of the other trims would be one thing but the Base is normally a stretch purchase trim. Hopefully this will back fire on them and force the release of a WRX with everything unnecessary stripped out. Just a radio/climate and power locks/windows and no other features. I was planning on waiting a year to get a WRX but even if they weren’t increasing the price I don’t want Eyesight, don’t even want keyless anything. If there were any other AWDs that came with a manual (that isn’t a VW) I’d get that. But there aren’t. Which makes me particularly unhappy about this, I don’t want to get a new car just yet even if getting one now wouldn’t mean pulling the amps/speakers/etc. out of my current car,… outside in upstate New York winter. Or owning a spare car I don’t have space for. I really wish they had at least made the announcement last fall.

The recaros and brembos only come in the tr along with some other things, as for why the eyesight has been added to all models is because the safety rating. The lowest safety rating effects all models across the line. The last gen crosstrek didn't get top only because the halogen headlights knocked down the score which the limited had leds. As for backfiring, it won't. It's the same thing that happened with the introduction of the vb yet they're selling just as good as the were in the past.

that might be a marketing ploy, the reality is it's probably cheaper. Having a separate manufacturing line for just the WRX is more costly at scale, so it's cheaper for subaru. Don't get me wrong, I hear you, they can tell their community, you are getting these things, but we have seen tech upgrades over other generations with no jumps. Think about how big a deal the screen upgrade was from 15 to 16, big deal for the community, and there essentially wasn't a mark up beyond inflation gain.
