Ophidia Spathe grants an additional knife PER CHARGE. That wording distinction is a way of saying, you have only a singular melee cooldown, but whenever it reaches 100% you get BOTH knives back. This works with Gambler's Charge, this works with orb ability regen, this works with Monte Carlo and with any other regen.
Also Knife Trick precision kills and ignition kills started by Knife Trick give back both knives. The dmg bonus from Scissor Fingers also applies to the ignition as long as the scorch source was started by your knives. So if you ignite a big enemy and it either kills them or enemies around them you get both knives back. If you stack Scissor Fingers before igniting a big enemy your ignition dmg will go up.@@MacticsG1
@@therussbuss5314 Unfortunately no, because the ignition is from the scorch application that isn't from the knife. Scorch/Ignition is always counted as the damage type that applied it (i.e. if you shoot something to scorch it, the scorch and subsequent ignition is treated as gun damage).
@@jamescruz8678 Agreed, and i mean no shade to Mactics , love his content . More of a fault on the guy who linked the build to him for not knowing/mentioning. But like atleast read the ability that the build is based on 😭 it mentions it in the text
With a hip fire shot of skyburners oath (scorches combatants) and then hitting it with a weighted knife, the combatant will ignite. Switch out ember of solace for the fragment that lets ignitions apply scorch and every weighted knife throw will ignite. Igntions damage increases with the scissor hands buff, good synergy there.
@@Shpinko. Like fabio says there is, but it will still be viable when the season ends (plenty of time) and if you don't have any bounties saved up to get the mod yet.
I'll have to revisit ophidia spathe, I run prox knives with a YAS build. Actually I think it was your pre-nerf YAS build. I've changed it a bit basically a hybrid between this build and your YAS build. The throwing knife spam is great fun. Second charge would definitely be helpful for those occasions where the ignitions outrun my knife throws or in team activities where somebody else kills your target as you're throwing the knife. Gets a bit messy when you've got a lot of combatants charging close in and it melees instead of throwing the knife. It'll still refund melee on the kill but it throws off your rhythm and sometimes the Melee doesn't give you the kill that the prox knife would've which then knocks you out of loop.
As a casual player I really like this format! I don't have the time to watch dozens of videos to learn how to make builds I want it simple and easy and this is the ticket! Keep making more of these Mactics!
Hey Mac...have you ever thought about expanding this?....Mondays do Hunters, Wednesdays do Titans and Fridays do Warlocks.! Keep the great content coming! I despise the fact I have to spend as much time researching this game as I do playing it.
For boss damage my current loop is; 1. Dragons breath for dmg and constant scorch application. 2. Weighted knife for ignition. 3. Weighted knife again for ignition. 4. Dodge for melee refresh. 5. Dragons breath should have auto reloaded by now because of the ignitions. Repeat.
foetracers, triple knife (radiant) + surge weapon dps, then grenade + surge weapon dps is just as easy and does more damage, dodging for reload rather than knife, since dodge + knife is pretty bad, just use strand warlock for insta grenade relloads at that point.. But if you're doing this loop because you're bored with foetracers and other popular dps buillds, then just ignore me. Unless if your loop does more damage? Idk I still probably won't use ophidians, I prefer higher end content and assassin's cowl is just way better for guaranteed invis on finishers (if you get stuck in a horrible situation with no cooldowns) WAIT I FORGOR SEASON CHANGED, PERHAPS THE DPS META GOT SHAKED UP A LITTLE BIT? (probably not but i'll see)
if you play knife trick with the ember of char (if think it's char, the extra scorch one) I think it's even better, because it's 90 scorch so the ignition is almost guaranteed, and the extra scorch can help accelerate the second ignition; I think you can easily get 3/4 ignitions per rocket with that (especially if you start with the knife instead of the rocket) edit: it's ember of ashes, not of char
mythoclast is for scorch with radiant and artifact mods, if not use ammit with armor piercing, assasin, incandescent, postive outlook with gyrafalcon assassin and volatile overflows mag to 80 bullets, char, ashes, empyryan, torches, artifact 2nd column from top 1 2 5, 3rd 1 3 5, 4th 3, 5th 3 4. with those solo when you are radiant, any solar weapon explodes enemies without scorch and kill resets radiant to 12s. soon dawning and again avalanche than can roll like mine with holster and incandescent, or simply fixed odds
one benefit to knife trick is that it scorches targets. Two knives to a boss and it ignites. Then you dodge and throw two more for another ignition. Pretty cool and powerful! I ran this on a nightfall today and it was super fun to use
If you run skyburners and use the hipfire shot to apply scorch, then use weighted knife, you will get an ignition for every knife throw. So 4 ignitions on a boss before running out
two knives to boss and ignition --> ignition kills an ad --> get two knives --> repeat been doing this in blind well since the flow of ads supports it. also doesn't work if boss already has scorch stacks
This doesn’t seem like it will be any good in harder content bc u won’t be able to just auto kill things to get the buff. And then the buff doesn’t last that long.
Probably already in here somewhere, but with weighted throwing knife, hit a scorched target and it ignites, so for the floater fragment you can use char to help with that chain.
the only problem is firesprites reset your restoration counter. so if you have 10 secs of resto then pick up a firesprite it puts the counter down to like 3 or whatever the base is
I'm so far going with a shards of galabore build with tripple knife. Very similsr build but more focused on killing small tonmedium targets and spam blade barage.
also for this season with kindling trigger you can throw a weighted knife to get radiant, shoot someone with ANY solar weapon to scorch them and then throw another knife to proc a solar ignition on the level of caliban's hand if not better
Been using Spathe for a while now, mostly with Knife Trick. Two things the video kinda missed that I feel the need to point out! - Every knife can crit, not just weighted! It’s a lot harder to crit with knife trick at range, but if you shotgun an enemy’s head you’ll get it anyway. And you throw more knives per second with it, which I feel is an important metric! - 2 knife tricks on the same target cause an ignition which also refunds 2 charges if it kills anything. This makes knife trick’s clear and single-target dps both shoot ahead of the competition, imo, while also opening up the rest of the solar fragments for use and letting you basically do Caliban’s hand-style room deletions whith chain ignitions while making it able to clear higher difficulty enemies. Weighted knife can also proc ignitions, but it requires you to use something like skyburners to make it consistent, which means you’re throwing less knives per second. Glad to see Spathe come up more though. Imo it’s the coolest solar neutral exotic.
@@slimemonster0381 Yup. Ignitions work kinda like stasis crystals so if you set them off using an ability, they take the properties of that ability. Which, fun fact, means you can do things like use your regular melee on a lot of enemies to stack Winter's Guile, then use Incinerator snap to get a super-buffed ignition!
Hey @mactics suggestion for your "will it build" videos. At the end of each video can you make a screenshot of the mods that is suggested by the creator and a screenshot of the mods you use when you tweak the build. This will be very helpful for me and maybe others that will like to try out those builds.
Ophidia spathe has always refunded both melee it’s so good. When solar 3.0 dropped it I was rocking it, double fan knives is an ignition so you can get a double ignition with 1 dodge
This is NOT the best Solar Hunter build, for I have created it! 1. Equip Celestial Nighthawk + Forerunner. Bow, Auto/Pulse in second weapon slot, Rocket in third slot. 2. Solar Aspects = On Your Mark + Knock' Em Down 3. Solar Frags = Ember of Mercy, Ember of Eruption, Ember of Tempering, Ember of Ashes, Ember of Char 4. Artifact Perks = Piercing Sidearms, Overload Auto/Overload Pulse, Unstoppable Bow. Kindling Trigger, Origin Perk Specialization 1, From Whence You Came. Flint Striker, Torch, Heart of the Flame. Revitalizing Blast. Rays of Precision, Argent Ordnance. 5. Notable Mods = Font of Wisdom, Ashes to Ashes, Solar Syphon, Firepower, Heavy Handed, Absolution, Solar weapon surge Focus on Precision Damage and you'll always be Radiant, getting bonus super energy, causing Ignitions, and spawning tons of Firesprites. With allies around your Celestial Nighthawk will hit for 822K in some instances. Bosses and Champs just disappear off of people screens. The exotic when paired with the newest Trials armor is double sick, as you're this Marksmen Hawk.
I like to use Knife Trick for my melee, and Monte Carlo for my primary. Knife Trick applies scorch, and with two charges landed it’ll cause an ignition, if you kill any enemy with that ignition it’ll refund the charge as well. With how fast Monte Carlo charges your knives you’ll always be outputting lots and lots of damage.
Bungie - We don't want Titans just running around throwing hammers constantly, so we're giving that build a nerf Meanwhile Hunters: HAHAHA knife go BRRRRRRRR
M1lkwiz4rd stole my build lol jk this build is mostly common sense for knife junkies, its free flow ability with the proximity knife in PVE is amazing as well as its ability to choke out trap manipulations in PVP specifically control on crucible.
I would stick a judgement of kelgorath in this, only having restoration for durability makes me anxious. (While you cant use a charged melee with a glaive equipped those experienced with the principle know you can simply switch off the glaive to throw knives, not recommended for new lights lol)
yeah Aztecross made this build during Defiance, was good then because of the seasonal artifact but now with Ophidia's buff it's actually good again, but yeah no if you want the build to actually pull its weight, Knife Trick is the only way. Like genuinely trolling with weighted knife - animation or not.
I agree with you. This is why aftrr Destiny one was finished and Destiny two came out, after Activision aquisition of Bungie and their pay to play BS. That's when I quit Destiny.
Please stop calling outshining setups, exotics and weapons "broken" that prompts a nerf and makes the devs think that they dont work as intended makings them overpowered, they're just really good😅 pls no nore nerfs
Weighted throwing knife doesn't apply scorch, so I don't think it's a good combo with ember of singeing. it does refill your class ability energy on precision kills so singeing is moslty pointless if you use that. not sure what I would use in it's place, maybe ember of mercy?
Absolutely wins the silver. I ran this basic build during the season the leviathan came back, but i must've forgetten the OS chest piece. Calibans only goes so far
I am loving the build cuz I love to ability spam and this feels like straight up ability spam to the finest. I miss my old trip-mine/ knife trick ability spam build that doesn't work the same anymore, so this may be a great option to replace that build.
Joins well then leaves because you cant make the build look good Lol testing a build to be alone? That made me chuckle. Bro thats so stupid when are you ever alone? Its easy to make a build look amazing when you're alone. Try play testing in real life activities that people do
I'm glad Bungie js willing to go back and give a lot of old exotica buffs to make viable again or even for the first time lol also glad they are doing a lot of ones based on your subclass In pve I will almost exclusively use those types and they have been hit and miss especially for hunter arcs are still bad only void ones were any good with solar being ok now hopefully that will change. Next will be actually making stasis ones !
Im going to run Mercy instead of Solace to make up the lost resil from empyrean and having restoration on firesprite pickup. i died a few times after i expected healing on pickup and realized that wasnt on this build. i really like healing on orb and element pickups. knife trick is far easier to hit when using controller. I get this weird feeling using weighted knife, like i throw while turning towards a target to time a hit with the knife and the strong aim assist delays my turning and causes the knife to just barely miss. The magnetism while using sticks causes me to have to play far slower if i want to hit with weighted knife. and i never get used to it, part of me thinks it may be affected by what ever weapon im holding at the time.
Mac the dodge only refilling one on knife is a bug. Also I’ve been using this exotic with weighted throwing knife since the season came out and it’s objectively the best for this season. Throw a knife get radiant shoot an enemy then throw your knife at them once they’re scorched and they’ll ignite.
Mactics can u make a shards of galanor build? They recently changed the function and now it grants i think it said 5% or something super energy on knife kills.
Pretty sure you get ignitions with the artifact mod with a precision kill with the knife. It turns the exotic into a Caliband hand that stacks damage with the proximity knife.
Your not using the full potential of weighted knifes. Get scissor fingers x3 scorch a target and hit them with a precision hit using your knife. It procs an ignition and the ignition scales of scissor fingers so you have a lot of damage
IIrc ignition damage can be increased via increasing the scorch damage that causes the ignition, so in theory you could get ignitions that deal twice as much dmg with knife trick
Does this build also change the damage of ignitions from fan of knives? because the way ignitions are coded, what ever caused the first stack of scorch is what the ignition counts as.
a few seasons ago, i used this build, ophidia spathe and knife trick were my bread and butter. but then they nerfed it and i couldnt do it anymore but i guess its back which is nice
Weighted throwing knife gives you a dodge back instantly if you get a headshot kill. So focusing strike is probably not needed. Also, as others have pointed out, weighted throwing knives instantly ignite scorched enemies. I used to scorch with skyburners but this season you can do it with any solar weapon.
Additional information about why weighted knife is useful for this build, when you get a precision kill with a weighted knife you refund your class ability
