Awww hell... I've been waiting on your review for this rifle. In fact your review is, "make, or break," as far as I'm concerned. Post watch edit: Yup. I'm buying this rifle. Thanks, Airgun Detective!

Thank you for watching and I appreciate your comments. I was surprised with this one. The accuracy right out of the box totally surprised me. This is truly designed for hunting and paired with the Hornets, what a great combination. I appreciate you watching and thank you for the comments. 👍😉

@@AirgunDetectives Popping the shiney sides of shotgun shells from 40 yard is no joke, and sealed the deal for me. I know you touched on power in your video, but do you think the discrepancy between advertised velocity and actual velocity is a bit high? How does this break-barrel compare with other break-barrels in terms of power? Thanks!
@IndianArma
@IndianArma 4 года назад
@@WRXXXual it's the most powerful one in. 22 and only the hatsan 125 in. 25 and the 135 and 130 in. 30 are marginally more powerful. I actually have the 125 in. 25 and I have the original game Magnum, they both punch a hole into 6mm steel at 10-15 yards and still have penetration power left in em. Depends on what pellet your gun likes tbh. The. 25 punches a slightly larger hole but the gamo perhaps goes deeper. Gamo Magnum: 27-29 FPE in. 22 Hatsan 125 . 25 : 30-32 ish FPE

I found the Gamo swarm magnum 10x gen 2, in 22 cal., on July the 24th, that Midway USA. I had to put in a request, so when they got it in they let me know right away. I have sighted it in and it's great. Now remember when ever you use a different pellet, make sure you recalibrate your scope for that pellet. I actually shoot heavier pellets, to decrease the speed and increase the impact.
@markc.6832

@@WRXXXual The power is great for the game it's intended for. I actually have to shoot a heavier pellet to keep it from cracking the sound barrier, but for decreased velocity, it impacts with more Force, using a heavier pellet. Of all the break barrels I have tested, I find the Gamo swarm Magnum gen2, 22cal. To be just what I'm looking for. People complain about how hard it is to cock, but if you can cock it, whatever small game you aim at, it's go down. Now, that's if you know how to shoot. Great air rifle. Shooting targets, and putting pellet on pellet on pellet. Yep, it's very accurate. And, Yes! That's with the scope that comes with it, and just using the sights. No one is paying me to say anything. I just like people to know what I've found out.

I REALLY ENJOY your videos, I bought a Gamo swarm magnum G2. 22 and measured the cocking force, the low was 54 lbs and the high was 60 lbs!!! It's a freaking BEAST!! It's the most powerful .22 brake barrel pellet rifle I have ever seen or shot. Keep up the AWESOME videos bro. 👍😎👍

The cocking effort should be way more consistent than 54 to 60 lbs. Just like a trigger pull gauge, your difference must have come from measuring from different points.

Hey JC, I have probably watched this video half a dozen times now, and am finally going to buy four for my family. Gamo should pay you a commission. You have probably sold more Gamo products than Cabella's or Pyramyd Air with your thoroughly entertaining and informative videos. If you ever consider selling yours, please let me know. I would love to buy it from you if you autograph it for my son Sebastian. He especially enjoys watching your videos. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

Thanks for the great review. In fact, it decided my purchase. I got lucky and got one from Cabela's at beginning of July before they're sold out again. My heart sank when I came pick it up at the store, the box was ripped in the middle, and someone has made a poor job of taping it back. Fortunately, after opening the box right in front of the customer service lady there, checking for damages, all was well. There's not a mark on the gun, all the parts and papers were present, pity the box won't be fit to display... The cocking effort was really 50 lbs level, I think Gamo understated it at 42 lbs so not to put buyers off. On a bad day, I stand the rifle on its stock and push down the barrel to cock it. A tired trembling hand is no good for aiming! The recoil is truly incredible. I wrecked a BSA Outlook 4-12x44 in a week. The hole for the stop pin on the RRR was badly distorted, the aluminum buckled toward the rear. I had to file it off, rounding the hole before putting a Diana Bullseye ZR knockoff and a Hawke Vantage 2-7x32 on. Still holding zero now after nearly 900 shots. I zeroed mine at 25 yards with the H&N Hornets, they're truly awesome. I can drop pigeons at 25 -30 yards with 9 out of 10 shots, considering I am just an average shot, with old eyes and unsteady hands! It's a shame that H&N Hornets are expensive. But, mine Magnum g2 also nearly as good with Premier Hollowpoint 14.3 gr pellets, I just have to aim the scope 1mil down. One more thing, do you know that the plastic cover at the bottom of the pistol grip is a snap fit and removable? There's enough room to put a spare magazine in there! But you have to think of something to get it open quickly without using a flat screwdriver...

Viet Lam- Did the cocking get any easier after all those rounds? I'm only 55 but had three back surgeries. I'm 6'3 - 295pds 70 pounds overweight and my arms still work okay, been debating back and forth between PCP and break barrel ultimately I think it just might be used for pesting skunk and raccoons,, target practice would be fun but PCP is a lot more money, more maintenance, and even their compressors are expensive and somewhat sketchy for long-term durability right now. How much was your Hawkeye scope? $109 is what I found that's a pretty decent price.
@vietlam2362
@vietlam2362 3 года назад
@@yukonjack. After 3000+ rounds as of now, and liberal applications of silicone grease to the linkages and parts of the pushrod into the compression chamber that i can see, the effort to cock it has become manageable. It's still require a firm determined pull but not quite intimidating as when new. Considering your fitness description, I think it'll be best for you to stand the rifle and push down the barrel to cock it like I did until I adapted to the stiffness, then try to cock it the normal way with the stock on your upper thigh/ hip once in a while when you feelgood. This rifle is made for hunting, not all day plinking, unless you're a bored professional arm wrestler. After 40 rounds. I usually called it a day. PCPs are more accurate and powerful at the same loudness with less recoil. I got an Air Venturi Avenger for 300 (Pyramyd Air) and an oil-free, maintenance-free GX-CS3 PCP compressor (490, Amazon) for long sessions of plinking/pesting. They are expensive outlay initially, but after a year, they are worth every penny. The compressor is still trouble free. I always leave it running to cool down properly after every refill operation. I don't know about other compressors, but the GX-CS3 , while much more expensive than many, has exceeded my expectations. Oh, BTW, the scope was a Hawke Vantage 2-7 x 32 AO. From personal perspective, I use PCP for everyday shooting, but keep up with the Gamo Swarm Magnum G2 just incase and for emergencies due to its power and independence of airsource. I hope it helps you to decide what is best for you. Have fun and be safe!

@@vietlam2362 I appreciate your advice!! and that compressor has a few hundred good reviews but it's always reassuring to hear from personal experience. Chinese quality has improved a lot over the years I agree having both guns would be the best. As far as PCP I would be torn between the Air Venturi Avenger or the Umarex Gauntlet 2 both in 22.cal Gauntlet has 70+shots and the Avenger is nice to have the option to dial down the pressure if you're shooting/ pesting in the backyard with neighbors close around. What's your opinion? also is there much maintenance upkeep with PCP as far as seals and anything else you can think of? Thx✌
@vietlam2362
@vietlam2362 3 года назад
@@yukonjack. I haven't got the Gauntlet 2 , but from a quick checks of the reviews it's seems a good gun and a good buy for the specs. However, if you want to try different regulator pressure, you have to take the tank off to put bought shims at the tank. It's means adjustability from the preset 2100psi, just not on the fly like the Avenger (although Avenger allows up-regulation, up to 3000psi, down-regulation you have to entirely de-gas the gun first before refilling and adjust.). I set mine at 1900psi as a compromise between power and shots counts (around 35ftlb, 80 shots, if memory serves). The big 24ci @ 4500 psi of the Gauntlet 2 is a big improvement over the 13ci @3600psi of the original Gauntlet, but be aware that nearly all the portable compressors are rated 4500psi max! You wouldn't want your compressor to die a quick death by filling your gun to the max hyped pressure, would you? My Avenger is rated for 4350psi, and I only pump it up to 4000-4100psi to keep the compressor healthy. I consider max shot counts are non-issue. When you're plinking, there's always time for refill. When you're really stalking and hunting, you're lucky to use up 30 shots! That's my take. For maintenance, PCP require even less work than break barrels. All you need is is to clean the barrel once when new, then per 1000 shots or so thereafter. Oil the cocking lever linkages, the passage of the pellet push probe,, its rubber seals at the tip, the entrance of that tip with silicone oil.. Just go easy don't dripping Wet them.. And keep the gun filled around 2000psi to keep the seals seated but not stressed for storage or when you not shooting for awhile. A quick homemade cleaning tool I made is from a length of grass trimmer plastic wire, with a bit of plastic tip from a ballpoint pen superglue on 6in from the end for a piece of cloth to hang on while you're pulling the wire thru the barrel. Or you can buy it somewhere online. Wet the cloth with WD40 or gun oil, insert the wire end without the cloth into the breech where you insert the mag, push it thru and out the muzzle, then grab it and pull the whole thing out. Repeat a few times with fresh cloth and oil. Finish with dry cloth until dry and clean. There's no acids from burnt powder so your airgun barrel don't need oil layer to protect from corrosion, unless you're going to store it for months. Clean it off before shooting again. That's about it for PCP maintenance I personally do. My guns and compressor are still problem-free and shooting great after 1 1/2 years so I am fairly certain I didn't do anything harmful. Have fun shooting and be safe!

There are many options out there. I have a tendency to lean towards the .22 caliber in the magnum breakbarrel simply because there is usually too much velocity for the .177 pellets, unless you use a really heavy style, 13 grain. There is many more option in .22 pellets at that point . Have a Great New Year!

Really appreciate your great reviews John...and for your previous service, too! I've told lots of people I know about your videos. Two (2) Items (Availability and Multi-Part Pellet Questions): A) Bass Pro Shop has them in Stock - And they are available for shipment and in stores. I live in Oregon and Bass Pro Shop said they were available at the Tacoma WA store for pickup (which was about 4 hours North). So, I had mine shipped which then came from OH. At first I was concerned their website might be wrong (like a mislabeled 1st Gen Magnum), but I can attest I got mine about a week and half ago (it was the Gen 2 Magnum). Now I just wish I could find some extra Gamo Inertia Magazines. 🤓 B) Questions About the Other 20 Pellets Tested and/or Slugs, Speed of Sound and Over Penetration, too? - So, I am very curious if you'd tried or had any test information on the following list of H&N Pellets, as I'm concerned about Over Penetration and also I don't want any pellets that would be breaking the speed of sound either. .22 CALIBER - LEAD FREE - Baracuda Green - My main concern would be if these would go Super Sonic, or if they are heavy enough to NOT break the sound barrier? - 12.96 gr. (measures 5.7mm) - 30 m Max Distance - BC 0.029 Field Target Trophy Green - Again for me, my concern with these...is if they would break the sound barrier with being much lighter weight than the Baracuda Green above...I would NOT want that. 🤪😇 - 9.57 gr. - 30 m Max Distance - BC 0.016 .22 CALIBER - LEAD - Terminator (Hollow Point) - Did you happen to try the Terminators? - 16.36 gr. (measures 5.7mm) - 30 m Max Distance - BC 0.020 - Slug (Hollow Point) - .218 Cal. which is 5.53mm (instead of the .217 Cal) Like a few other viewers...I would love to see how these Slugs would shot with the Magnum. - 21 gr. - BC 0.091 - 23 gr. - BC 0.094 - 25 gr. - BC 0.100 - 27 gr. - BC 0.095 - 30 gr. - BC 0.106 - 100 m Max Distance Thanks again for all you do...and thank you for your diligence an time...it is greatly appreciated!!!

One way I can already see that this beats the Octane is that it is considerably lighter. The octane has a better stock scope, so I think I will take that off my Octane and set it up on my new Swarm Magnum. The best way to start out the Day, I new Airgun Detectives air rifle review! Great Job John. Love the new targets much better visibility while shooting. Great sponsor pickup!!! 👍 Thanks Gamo for sending the rifle for review. Did you try the new Crosman Ultra heavy 19 grain pellets or the Gamo TS=22 21 grain pellets? My magnum rifle loves both these pellets! Two questions: You stated this rifle uses the Mach 1 piston, but during your Whisper Fusion Mach 1 rifle review you loved the cocking effort better (36 lbs) than the previous Gamo Magnums. Do you know why? Did the cocking effort get any lighter as you used it? Other reviews reported it getting easier after "break-in"?

@AirgunDetectives 4 года назад
The piston is the same as the original and the cocking effort is identical to the Gen1. All three have the identical cocking effort, the original Magnum, the Swarm Magnum and the Gen2 Swarm Magnum. They are in the upper 40's. I put around 600 rounds through that in 2 days. It is definitely a work out. As I said not a rifle for the feeble. What surprised me the most was the accuracy. This was not as pellet picky as the other models either. I didn't try those specific pellets but I tried quite a few and most were really good. However, the Hornets were amazing. Take care!

The studies are already starting to come out estimating the true toll of this pandemic (so far as the pandemic is not over), and like every single other epidemic or pandemic beforehand, the confirmed deaths are a VAST undercount of the total number of people that have died from this deadly disease. I was thinking that "inertia" may have been an incorrect term. I thought that was for rotational force, like a flywheel, and reciprocal recoil sound more linear. Not sure totally though. Maybe it should have been called "The Reciprocal Recoil Pellet Advancement Magazine", (RRPAM), or something like that? :)

I just spent all winter shooting this gun at snow piles around my driveway and across the yard. Now, in the spring, I go find them while the snow is melting and pick up all that I find. Usually, the pellets found in the snow have very little deformation other than the rifling marks, and a puffed up skirt from this .22 magnum gun. Once in a while, I find a interesting pellet. This one must have been shot after I cleaned the barrel, as it must have dieseled. Now the power of this gun will puff/blow up the skirt for excellent engagement with the rifling's, but the diameter of the barrel is as big as it can get. I just found a pellet in the snow, (JSB 18gr.), and the skirt is blown up to .300" diameter measured with calipers, (almost perfectly round, no splits). It looks funny as the skirt is 2mm bigger in diameter than the head of the pellet, (like a real fat short lady in a ballroom dress and a tiny head), but the only way I can think of that will cause that is if there was still a lot of force behind the pellet as it left the muzzle. That expanding deformation probably happened within 2" out of the muzzle. By the way, I have decided that the Hornet is my favorite pellet out of this gun. At 16gr. it does have a better trajectory than the 18gr. domes, (2 mill dots at 90 yards instead of 3), and so far, I have not beat long distance groups with the domed pellets I have tried, (but they are all pretty darn good to). One thing I love about the Hornet and the 18gr. Hunter Extreme (Both H&N), is they have a thicker skirt than the JSB or FX pellets. None of the Hornet or Hunter Extreme pellets had dents on the skirts, they were all perfect. I have thrown away about 10% of the FX 18gr. pellets because of damaged skirts. I found about 20 Hornets so far in the snow, and I bet they shoot pretty darn good the second time too. I have waited a month for 1,200 Hornets, so I may have to fire them. :)

This is the video that suckered me into buying this gun..lol..Its also the gun that has given me the most aggravation. Bought on amazon and discovered it has a bent barrel. Ive gotten the barrel fairly close but once shooting past the zero point its like i can never find where it shoots. It shoots very hard , sd is very good and i have the updated screw for the trigger , under 2 lbs . Perfect.. i feel once i get this barrel issue figured out , it will be a beast.
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 3 года назад
Can you exchange it for another? A common way the barrels get bent, not saying this is your case, but people accidentally let go during the cocking phase. When that happens the force causes the barrel to be Sligh bend upwards. This is just enough to destroy accuracy down range. You can carefully bend it back to the original position but it is a delicate process. But sometimes you just get a defective barrel which warrants an exchange. Thanks for watching 👍

@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA 3 года назад
There is one sure fire way to hold a hold sensitive piston gun and shoot much better than we usually see on YT. As much as you can,---don't hold it. As much as you can, don't even touch it. :) For example, a but plate pad means nothing to me for a springer. I move the pressure off my shoulder and cheek before I pull the trigger. From my experience, if you hung the gun on 2 strings, and used a little electric motor to press the trigger, (mounted in the trigger guard), that would be the best way to shoot any springer. A nice soft short trigger really helps when you are not holding the gun. It should be the only force going into the stock that you have to deal with.

Hey JC, hope you and your family are safe, healthy and happy too. Is double feeding or triple feeding really that bad? I would think that if you double fed a 14.3 grain pellet it would be like shooting a 28.6 grain pellet from the muzzle but impacting with two 14.3 grain pellets. A triple fed would result in a 42.9 grain pellet from the muzzle but impacting with three 14.3 grain pellets. Maybe for hunting small game this application would end up being quicker than the gen 2 follow up shots. If it's not harmful to the rifle, can handle the back pressure, and not blow out the seal/o-rings, then you essentially would have a very hard hitting slug or hopefully with tight groups, or a two or three shot shotgun for small game at short distance. Anyway, what are your thoughts on this? Do you think that this would harm the gun or would it just be like shooting a heavier grain slug or a small shotgun? It would be nice to know what are the results, tight groups, higher FPE, and accuracy at distance would be awesome if it doesn't damage the gun. Stay safe, be well, and God bless.
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 4 года назад
Hi Ken, hope all is well👍As far as a double feed, that might be all right. The general rule is you never want too light of a pellet or too heavy of a pellet. The piston and seal is designed for a certain amount or resistance. That's why it's not good to dry fire nor is it good to have too much resistance. Beeman does make a double barrel that fires two pellets at the same time. I will review that one of these days. 😉👍

I just had a problem with the gun, after a week of shooting about 300 pellets. All the sudden, the fps was all over the place, (from 865fps to 806fps). I cleaned up the o-ring and breech surface, (which had oily/grime on it), and with a 15.89gr. pellet, shot a 910fps through the crony for the next shot. After a few more shots of decreasing fps, it was just all over the place. It can't be the piston seal with those results. The cocking effort has not changed either, still a workout. :) I think I figured it out. The seal is not an o-ring, but more of a sleeve that pulls out of its groove pretty easily. I am almost positive that the air pressure started blowing around the seal, (seal is in perfect shape), so I just sealed it with a little gasket sealer. Wanna bet this gun shoots about 915fps with a 15.89gt. pellet tomorrow? That is 29.5fpe. :) I will let you know the actual findings.
@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA 3 года назад
I did use brake cleaner on a Q-tip to clean the breech surface, (which could increase fps, but it evaporates fast), but was hard to reach still because of the multi shot cool system. I then blew the surface with compressed air for a few seconds before I shot it through the crony for the 910fps reading. Don't know for sure, but tomorrow with some more crony shots, I should know. I have my fingers crossed for a consistent 915 fps with the o-ring sleeve seal totally sealed. :)
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 3 года назад
@@EarthSurferUSA ok...first do not use any petroleum products near the breech because it damages the seals. Not sure how many rounds you have through the rifle? They always shoot higher in the beginning because of excessive lubricants in the assembly process which in turn causes some dieseling. They rifles eventually settle does after a few hundred shots. I would be happy with anything over 900 fps with a 15 gr pellet. 😉
@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA 3 года назад
I think I had something to do with the failure also. I cleaned the barrel, (maybe 100 shots earlier,) from the muzzle with a rod, brush/solvent and dry patches, but failed to clean the breech area after, (which had to be a mess for over 10 patches removing crud from the barrel.). I suspect the oil in that area migrated to the o-ring sleeve and saturated it enough to help air to pass through under this pressure.
@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA 3 года назад
@@AirgunDetectives OK, I think I figured out what happened. I was shooting about 865 fps with the 15.89gr. JSB pellet when the gun was brand new to maybe close to 150 shots before I cleaned the barrel. I cleaned the barrel with a rod, wire brush/solvent, and at least 10 dry patches, all from the muzzle end. The solvent and grime was on the breech face, and I did not see it because of the mag system, and I did not think of it, (my mistake). It was shooting great after that for about another 100 shots or so, then one day, the FPS was all over the place. That is when I noticed the grime on the breech face, and figured the air was blowing around the seal. I used brake cleaner on q-tips to remove the grime from the breech face, (hard to reach with the mag system. I should figure out how to remove it for cleaning), removed the seal, cleaned the seal groove with brake cleaner, (very carefully, not to get any on the plastic or in the compression chamber), put a tiny bit of gasket sealer on the bottom end of the o-ring/sleeve, installed it and let it cure for 2 days before shooting, (other than a handful of crony shots, because I got impatient). I now have consistent speeds again, but am now shooting the 15gr. pellet at 816 fps, (23.5fpe, a bit low). It turns out the 900fps was from some fumes of the brake cleaner, (which I used compressed air to dry, but some fumes must have amazingly existed). I did use some brake cleaner on the o-ring/sleeve to get the oil off it before I glued it in place, and that may have softened the rubber a bit, (plus the grime from the breech), and maybe why I am not getting close to 865fps anymore. I will order a new seal in effort to restore the 50fps I lost, but the gun is shooting very consistently again. Yea, 900 plus fps would have been nice, in fact ecstatically nice, but it was not to be. :) Hey, this is my 3rd break barrel gun. My fist is a Benji Titan .177 (16fpe), and then I had the .30 cal Hatsan, and this gamo barrel locks up better than both of those guns. The Gamo has zero side to side movement, and so little up and down movement, (hard to feel, it is so little), it as close to perfect as I think is possible. You have had many more Break Barrel guns than I have had,---how do you rate the lock up compared to the best you have had? This gamo has to be hard to beat for barrel lock up I would think. Your reviews are top notch. Thank you sir. PS, I would like to be introduced to that friend of yours in Michigan, (if he does retail), because if I start making products, I might be interested in selling them through him. Thanks again. Yes sir…nothing like a beautiful lady to start off a video.👍🤷‍♂️💯 Thank goodness you did this review sir. I don’t want to spend 6-700$ on a HW 97 or a TX 200 and I definitely want a magazine. I trust your reviews 100%. This would be a better buy if they didn’t throw in the scope to be honest. Airgunners need parallax adjustment for maximum accuracy. Not a single scope from any manufacturers airgun package has this essential detail. They always throw in a decent scope to be fair, but subpar by far for what we need. This gun seems to do well with the Gamo Red Fire. I have a bunch, and they don’t shoot worth a damn past 35 yards in most of my PCPs that are not pellet picky for the most part. This may be my first, and only break barrel purchase. I love my PCPs to be honest, but I have that itch again to get another gun. You know how that is 😉 It maybe a great “beater airgun since most of my PCPs are 1-2k+$ so I would rather take this on the quad, or in the truck than my others. That said…my LCS SK-19 .25 is a TANK and the barrel is SO THICK…my current truck gun. I don’t feel comfortable leaving a 2K$ gun +1k in optics in the truck/heat/cold/dust/moister when I have to leave the truck…locked or unlocked to be honest. Anyway…this Gamo has Great accuracy and power for the money. I would feel a lot less stressed out having this hanging on the headrests of my truck thank my LSC and it will do the same thing honestly. Thank you sir. God bless. Happy New Year sir.

Have you ever cronyed 20 shots, (or more), in a row to see the fps results? I picked up a second gun, cleaned the barrel properly, and ran a crony test with it, (with about 20 pellets shot through it). I found the gun was shooting about 30 or 40 fps faster near the end of the second magazine, (2 magazines in the test. 20 shots per pellet size), but it is cold here now, and the gun was in a heated garage, (brought back in the warm to reload the 2 magazines with the different pellet). I think, as I was shooting in the cold, (about 25 deg F.), the cylinder was getting colder and the air was colder, (being more dense). For example, for my second set of 20 shots, I used the 15.89 pellet. It started at 851.7fps and ended at 895.2 fps, (the last shot jumped up 20fps). I don't know if shooting 20 shots pretty quickly, that it is normal for a gun to increase fps, or if the gun needs more break in time, or if the cold air increased the fps. What would your more used gun do in the warm/consistent weather when blowing through 20 shots, (I am thinking 30 shots now)? That might be a good test for springer air guns. Both pellets seemed to jump up at least 10fps right away when the second magazine was loaded. If I had shot 30 shots, the fps might have gone up higher, as it was still on it's way up. Interesting to me. I don't like that big of a spread, but I will have fun trying to figure it out. I think a 30 shot crony blitz test would be good to add to air gun tests for springers. We might be surprised at the variance of some, (need to find out why), and what guns are consistent if any. BTW, my second gun has a barrel that locks up perfectly, (no slop up and down or side to side), and I can feel the trigger is a bit easier than my first gun out of the box.

Thanks for the video's, really like your systematic approach to evaluating each air gun. Just now shopping for an air gun and have settled on the Gamo because I really like the ability to not have to load each pellet. I have a EIG .177, yea it's an old gun I got from my Dad ... I'm 61 now, and trying to locate who made EIG is a challenge. Found an article on EIG .177 that showed the rifle but it wasn't an exact match of what I have. Said it was a Taiyo Juki. Rifle still shoots, but like you my eyes aren't as good as they used to be and iron sites are a challenge for me now. A LOT has changed in the break barrel wold since my early teens when I shot this rifle. I plan on using the rifle to both teach my grandsons how to shoot, and rid my 16 acre farm of pests that want to eat my garden, and a ground hog that has taken up residence under my barn. I've settled on a .22 Caliber model, and thinking the Gamo Whisper Fusion Mach I or Gamo Bone Collector are good choices. I'd like to get something my wife could also shoot. She shot the EIG .177 and liked it, but wouldn't want something with a difficult cocking action. The .177 would have an easier = less force to charge it. The Gamo web site shows all the .177's with a 30 lb cocking action, do you find this to be accurate? What would you suggest for something for her, and the grandsons (they are now 8, 5, 2 and 3 months :-)).

Hi Pete, Not sure how much you want to spend but take a look at the SIGASP20. That is my #1 favorite rifle in .22 caliber. Incredibly accurate, very easy to cock, barely over 30 lbs, powerful, and not pellet picky. Keep in mind both the .177 and the .22 have the identical bases. The only difference is the barrel diameter. The cocking effort is the same. If you like the idea of having a magazine look at my review on the Gamo Swarm Maxxim and I have a review coming out soon on the Swarm Bone Collector as well. Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for the quick reply. I watched the SIGASP20 video you made, and can see why you like it so much. It certainly tops the Maxxim with it's 818 FPS average and 23 FPE, with the Maxxim only hit an average of 775 FPS and 19 FPE. Neither seemed to be pellet picky, bu the Maxxim's 10 round clip really seals the deal for me. That and I'd have to buy a scope for the SIGASP20 as my wife's got a similar issue = glasses. I was also considering the Swarm Bone Collector, so I'll be very interested in learning what you think of that once your get an opportunity to review it. Thanks again for the awesome video's and unbiased reviews.

Well, I'd ordered the Gamo Magnum from the Air Gun Depot because on 6/20/2020 their web site showed they had them due in on 6/22/2020. I followed up on my order today only to learn it's back ordered, so I canceled my order. After reading your suggestion above about the Sig ASP20 I kept thinking I'd made the wrong call be ordering the Gamo Magnum, so with the back order status that sealed the deal. I'm now looking for a dealer in the area that caries Sig Air Rifles (learned that Sig Firearm dealers don't necessarily carry Sig Air Rifles) and will be getting a Sig ASP20. What scope would you recommend I get to put on it? I've still got the problem with my eyes and iron sites so a scope is a must. Thanks again for all the testing and reviews you do. After reviewing several Air Rifle You Tube sites, I still like yours the best!!!

@@petenelson8136 welcome to my world as far as vision. As far as the ASP20 go with the .22 caliber. Look on line and you should be able to find a sale. That was the best move!! The Sig is worth the money. As far as scopes I have been really liking these BSA Outlook series amzn.to/2NCs7o5 Very durable, clear optics and amazingly affordable. keep me posted :)

I had to find out. I just had to. The gun did not set off Tannerite at 30 yards. 15.89gr. Hades pellet did not go through the tightly packed 1/2lb target/jar. Bummed at no BOOM, but I just had to. :)

@@AirgunDetectives If I would have watched some vids first with pellet guns and Tannerite, I would have found out Tannerite makes a "rim fire" mix also, that is more sensitive to rim fire .22 rifle bullets. According to those vids, this pellet gun will set off the rim fire Tannerite, but not the original stuff.

Its would be awesome to maybe have a long range segment. Something maybe like with a target at 40ft, 60, 80, and 100 feet to see how the rifles and ARs perform at greater distances. And where individual guns top out for an accurate shot

If you are wondering how good of a hunting gun this is, after looking through the Pyramyd Air catalog just sent to me, and assuming all fps ratings are done with alloy pellets for faster advertised fps, this gun makes more fps/fpe than any other .22 cal. air gun in that catalog, by far. That includes al PCP .22 cal. guns in the catalog. This gun claims 1300fps for a .22, and almost all other guns have a hard time breaking 1000fps for the .22. Yes, I was very surprised.

Great review, just purchased the BSA Scope and Hornet ammo based on your review. Waiting for the gun to reach the suppliers. Do you use a laser bore sight to sight your guns in? I find it takes all the guess work out of it, still have to fine tune it at the range but the bore sights really get it close.....

Even at a short 20 yards, (personally, I don't like 20 yard accuracy tests very much), that is a nice tight group. I would not be surprised with practice, a 80 yard group may not be much bigger. How well does that pellet fly at further yardage? It is quite common to have great pellets to 40 yards (for example), but further than that and the pellet loses its stability. I know if I am accurate at 80 yards with this gun, I will be accurate at 20. You can almost never go the other way. :) You make good vids sir. Doug in Michigan

Only 1 comment - why not keep backing up on the target until you can't keep it in the bull? That would be important also (and not just for this rifle). You - and all others - only shoot at "standard yardage". Keep backing up to get maximum range accuracy

It just depends on the day I would say it is 50/50...Just like anything else I have good days and bad days of shooting. It depends on the wind, how steady I can be etc. You just hope it all comes together on camera. I have to say, this Gamo completely surprised me. I have never seen a Gamo shoot like this one. Thanks for tuning in👍😉

So now my gun is not shooting consistent again. Just shooting more shots with the 15.89gr. pellet, with no additional maintenance, I have a 60fps difference again, but they are in 2 groups of three. I ran out of the domed 15.89, and started shooting the 15.89 Hades, (should be the same FPS). With no changes to the gun, I just shot a 911/917/912 through the crony. 3 more shots, after a few min break, gave me 855 ish + or - about 3fps). Yesterday for a few shots through the crony with the 15.89 domed pellet, it was shooting about 815fps. Either something is leaking intermittently, (piston seal or the o-ring), or the crony is malfunctioning. But I know now, if there is nothing wrong with the crony, (and I try to shoot parallel to the censors as well as I can), this gun is capable of over 900fps with a 16gr. pellet. Any idea on how to test a crony? So I am having an issue with the gun. Big deal. I enjoy the challenge, and I would really love to figure out how to best 900fps and keep it there. :) After those shots, I am almost positive it is possible. :)

I think the new targets are good during the sight in process so that you can see the impact point but for purposes of your review I like the old targets where you could see the holes more defined. The splatter on these makes it hard to tell where the pellet actually went.

Advertised at 1600fps for .177 and 1300fps for .22, you will not find a more powerful .177 or .22 even in a PCP, so I don't think you can find a more capable .22 for pests. My .22 magnum will be here any day, and I am going to try to set off some tannerite with it.

i was dead set on the magnum but after watching this video and maybe another one of yours on this gun, if memory serves me correct, you really have me worried about using this gun primarily for target practice, as far as cocking effort goes. im definitely not weak but i have major back problems. after a couple hours of reading about other gamo models (dont ask me why im hung up on gamo's) i have pretty much narrowed it down to the swarm fusion gen 2. seems like it has all the features i wanted from the magnum just less power. unfortunately the price isnt much less but the cocking effort is. i mean after all i didnt necessarily want a gun that could go strait through a have sheet of plywood from 30 yards, not to great for target practice.really wanted the swarm maxxim gen 2 since its a good $80 cheaper than the fusion but no open sights on the maxxim so thats a deal breaker.

I'm thinking about getting the .177 cal version. .177 Pellets are always readily available and cheaper. 22 cal pellets can be hard to find.

The problem with .177 pellets it’s that sense they’re light they will obviously go quicker but will do less dmg. Accuracy can be a very slight problem from what I’ve experienced, I think it might just the wind resistance affecting it more or something.
@klrdto3250
@klrdto3250 2 года назад
@@piggybackedfromapizzadough5727 How about a heavy .177 pellet, like a 15 grain. Smaller diameter should better penetrate through air and the target. Some .177 barrels however are not designed for the heavier/longer pellets and could end up losing energy and accuracy.
