The new Kia K5 isn't better than the old Kia K5

For the rear, I prefer the new one. It looks so psycho and I'm a fan of these type of taillight graphics.

It seems they wanted it to look more alike the Ev models. I can definitely see the ev5 in the design language.

The one problem with this car i have that is not sold in Europe... enough with the 💩 SUV'S 😅

I'm actually fine with Kia's current design language, but I still feel like they are finding their way with light design. The way these DRLs look, along side vehicles like the EV9 just remind me of a few randoms lines, like connecting random dots or a constellation. Reminds me of the previous G70, before they came up with a design identity for that brand. It use to be a few random lines and dots. Now atleast Genesis is sticking to the two layed parallel light design.

I wish they kept the stinger model. That's what defined the new era Kia brand. They never should have axed that car.

I bought a new 21 K5GT line. A lot of fun to drive the turbo in that sedan

The back looks similar to the K8. The Cadenza version in Korea

The 1.6 t was an option on Hyundai Sonata. And free on all K5’s now they took the standard sonata motor and put it in the K5 it’s slower and cheaper 😮

It's a mixed bag for me. It's still an attractive design. My biggest gripe has always been no AWD with the GT. I live where snows a lot, so AWD simply for better winter performance would make it much more appealing. I get by with FWD and snow tires, but there's no arguing AWD is simply superior.

I love the rear and interior, the taillights were looking very dated with the regular turn & reverse lights. Now its all LED which is great & the full digital dash, way better the interior was looking dated aswell!

I prefer this new design completely over past years models. Both front and rear look way better IMO.

The refresh does look sharper, I like it.

I love the new design inside and out. I love the new digital dash with the dual monitors built into it. I like the front lightning bolt.

I'm a bit upset that they didn't include a self closing trunk on at least the GT line

I think I like the 21-24 design more, but I do still like the 25 design. Possibly the rear design of the 25 plus the front design of the 21-24 would be perfect

I love the interior the most. I would have to agree it feels like two design concepts that are competing in the front and in the rear.

I agree. The pre facelift is just perfect. The new one is overly done. The only improvement to me is the dash screens. They should've just updated that and made the facelift after 5yrs

Until that top trim is AWD and not FWD I simply cannot consider it living in Canada.

I think the looks just as good as the pre- facelift. The rear is much better tho, I hated the look of the old one. The new design language fits the car quite good in my opinion.

I completely agree with your comparison. The last version had so much streamlined fluidity. The new version cuts it all out sadly.

I agree, it's as if it was a lets just fit this in on this body. Too many lines clashing. It looks like sewing parts together. They tried to implement their new generation design on a previous generation body, it's not working.

the most irritating thing about the k5 from the 6 months ive owned one is not being able to control or select anything on the screen without having to touch it. its really dangerous while driving to have to stare directly at the screen and touch to navigate it. the car needs to replace the drive mode knob with a navigation knob like the knob in the mazda 6. the drive mode knob is so unnecessary especially where it is.

To be honest, I like the new one more, the rear is just better looking overall, got rid of the side vents and the tail lights look much better, for the front, the lower part looks like a predator´s teeth, which suits the tiger nose very well

I’m just gonna say it. The old Kia K5 is simply a much better design. It’s much more mature and easy going on the eyes. Which is something I’d want for a passenger sedan. It gives a feeling of confidence and just the right amount of sportiness.

Having just got my '24 K5 GT-Line AWD last summer, I was intrigued to see what the next update would look like or if we even got one. I was totally prepared for intense new model envy and buyer's remorse. I saw it on unveiled on the official site, and at first my heart dropped into my stomach. What would I be missing? Should I have waited? Just as I braced for the disappointment and regret, I looked at the new images and specs and those feelings never came. There was something about the new design inside and out that I didn't vibe with that I just couldn't place, but I could not have imagined putting it into better words than you have here. Aside from other lines, I certainly prefer the "heartbeat" headlights and the full "lightbar" we got on the tail lights before. Inside, I even prefer the analog/digital mix of the gauge cluster in my '24. There's definitely already more than enough screen up front anyway in the K5, and I still adore my red leather interior. Who knows if that will still be offered on the new model. All this considered on top of losing the turbocharger (I'm a sucker for forced induction) in the '25 put my mind at ease. I got the car I wanted. Thank you for your review!

Hyundai/Kia does great with the initial redesigns but then it's like they intentionally want to butcher the design somewhat during the mid-cycle refresh. The new Sonata refresh is sort of an exception, but I wonder if they do this either to save on mfr costs at mid-cycle or to further magnify the improvements on the subsequent generations?

kia is not going in the right path ....i think. 🤔 this brand sells and have a real succes in the markets BUT putting prototypes in production is not a great strategy to CONTINUE THE SUCCESS STORY. it is a risky operation some how. exposing all your lines in your recent models kills the innovation and maby the inspiration. kia for now is a real COMMERCIAL SUCCESS but....ho knows? -RESPECT FROM A FRENCH MAN BEMB 👍

@Bembli // I like this new style but I would love to see your edits to this reresh. I think I can be swayed on minimizing the taillight design. I still wish they integrated this screens to look like it was actually part of the cars design though.

What’s crazy is the new rear tail lights look like the back of the Volvo sedan just missing the rest of the lights. I agree though, not a design improvement.
