YES, THIS is the kind of speaker reviews I enjoy - actually take the damn thing apart! I have some KX Audio (KV2's discontinued budget line) that I took apart a few years ago, and they aere just beautiful. 2.5'' VC compression driver and dual voice coil 12'' woofer (2.5''VC) in an all wood box... heavy AF for today's kids, but they don't build 'em like that anymore :)

Been using them since they came out and of the 8 only one has been replaced (Thank you SweetWater) with an iffy attenuator which I could no longer coax into working. I’ve never seen them peak, inside or outside 50 - 500 (4 Mains) no problem 89% live bands and still going strong.

The SRM-450s are incredible on the inside! These just look like a joke in comparison. My school has a student-run music program, and I got to repair one of our SRM-450s. The problem: a wire was touching the back of the cone, causing a rattling noise. Anyway, the SRM 450s, or at least the V2s, have cast metal frame woofers with neodymium magnets, PUSH TERMINALS, NOT SPADES and the inside of the boxes are really well padded. The boxes themselves are extremely thick. The wires are also managed a lot better, although someone messed with one of my school’s speakers before me, hence the problem of the wire touching the back of the cone.

I’ve been using them since they came out for just that purpose, Live Bands and they have not failed, peaked or distorted! I bought 5 to start with along with 2 Thump 18s’ and haven’t looked back! I plan to add 2 more Thrash 212’s and the harder to come by Thump 18s’… Inside or outside they’ve made the crowd move and the music sing!

After damming it with such feint praise I can't believe you didn't mention the label not pealing off cleanly. You failed to mention if the output is passive, which I assume it is, but my venue just bought a SubZero C12A and that has a 'speaker out' so you can add a passive sub or full range - very useful. But no matter what you think of any piece of equipment, I hate to see anyone handle any speaker with such a lack of respect. I've had good gear and I've had less good gear, but I've always handled it well and never 'chucked' it onto a table.

11:30 YOU APPARENTLY NEED A XLR CABLE TO GET LOUD SIGNAL FOR VOCALS but if you use TRS cable you get a weak signal with a low pitched faint voice. I found out the hard way. Sadly with the cheaper Harbinger it doesn't matter if you use a TRS OR XLR cable for microphone/vocals but the sound quality for mic vocals is terrible with a Harbinger, I regret buying it for vocals. UPDATE, i started to use my belringer which i had sitting around with the XLR and it sounded way better with the cable than it did with TRS cable, the sound came out natural and clear. I would say the behringer is better than ah mackie thump or harbinger.
@beardalaxy

This has kind of been my experience just in general. XLR has always been louder for me with microphones.
@KINGandWINNER
@KINGandWINNER 2 года назад
@@beardalaxy but i think a few people know this. I asked the people at guitar center they only told me to use TRS cable and than did a research on PA systems but they never mentioned i need a XLR cable. Over 5 yrs of having a PA systems and not using it cause I sounded like a robot I did a research and found out that I needed a XLR cable which was true to get a clear natural voice.

@KINGandWINNER
@KINGandWINNER 2 года назад
well bro if just need a cheap loud speaker than a mackie thump will do the job. I mean if your profession is DJ or sing than A mackie thump is a joke and your better off getting a PA that is near 1000 dollars or more. Lets just say for vocals using a microphone isn't not as bad as a harbinger. But a Harbinger is more powerful and louder than a mackie thump but since its cheap it gets hot really fast. Apparently unless you got bluetooth you must use XLR cable to interconnect an audio device like a microphone to a mackie thump or you get a weak signal if you use a TRS cable.

Geez! What does that thing even need 1300W for?! By the size of that motor, I can guarantee you the poor woofer ain’t taking 300W. Great video as always. Welcome back, guys! PS: yes, I understand that audio has peaks of loudness and a 6dB headroom is desirable, but that woofer couldn't even handle that power for any significant time without failing spectacularly.

that woofer can't go more than 70 watt. If an old RCF L12p300 (300watt rms) was 8.2kg,, mounted on Mackie Srm 450 V1 or Soundking FP0215a 7.5kg, you can imagine what liars todays speaker brands tell.

I destroy them after 2 venues.. we have also one 1000w older meckie as stage monitor, and it was louder than shis shit.. if you use them properly, like dont turn gain knob up to field for mic it is ridiculous quiet. if you turn it up to field for mic, gain will destroy that 15" speaker. and that retarded overload indicator is on back, so only drummer on venue can see it is overloaded
