The Microclimate EVO Connected III has arrived, it is fantastic. Take a look at my first thoughts - spoiler: I love it!

Great bit of kit Ben. Thanks for sharing. Like y the fact that you can feed the data to your phone. Helpful when your not in the facility. Nice to have everything on the same app. Nice bonus footage too! Have you moved your snakes into a new facility?

Thank Paul, not yet but plans are afoot, I have rather expensive purchase next month reptile-wise but it will be a project for June and July I think - need to get designing!

I will do that today, I’m getting some more, they are from LP Racks based in Europe but now Gavin at Balls2U acts as a distributor for them, he has some coming next month. It just keeps the postage costs down as he does an order for racks etc from them.

Great video. Mine arrived on Saturday!! Got it all set up today ahead of redoing my rainbow boa’s enclosure this week. So it’s ready to just plug in. Also use the govee sensors! But this thermostat is excellent. So customisable. I’ve set mine for both heating channels to use seasons, and the 3rd to be my lighting on / off. Given the channel a subscribe. I’ve got 2 other evo pro’s from the last generation, I didn’t like the evo lite’s. Aim to get all my snakes on an evo, currently they are using habistat digital dimming stats which do a similar job to the last gen evos.

Hey there, Thank you for sharing such amazing and constructive information throughout this video, I’m definitely feeling as though I want to try out one of these, however I have a question. Firstly, within my vivarium I have a heat mat as well as reptirad heat panel and some lighting also, now my question is are there 2 separate probes on the evo connected III that I could measure temps of both my heat mat and my radiant heat panel with? Or is it just one probe? Look forward to hearing your response. Many thanks, Corey

Yes there are probes for each, the on off has a probe as well which as I use for lighting doesn’t get used. It is a brilliant piece of kit and so much better than the EVo that it replaces. It would be perfect for the setup you’re planning.

Only hooking Ben, thank you for all the advice. I’ve just purchased the new stat & would like all data on my phone as this is a great way to monitor when I’m at work etc. I would love to know what the thermostat/hygrometer you purchase off of Amazon are & if you prefer a particular brand? Thank again

I am using the Govee and Inkbird. I like both but the original Govee ones I are smaller and I prefer them, I had to get those from amazon.com rather than the .co.uk - Just bought another Evo 3, gradually moving all the vivs to these - will end up with lots of secondhand equipment!

Only joking Ben, thank you for all the advice. Just ordered the new stat & love the way you have got everything going to the phone I will try mirror this with my royals over the next couple of days. What are the thermostat/hygrometer that you purchase from Amazon?

I use two, Govee and Inkbird, the smaller ones were from the US via Amazon.com rather than .co.Uk they are really good. I have just bought another couple of stats as well, just like the ease of controlling. It is much better than the old EVO you won’t be disappointed.

Hey ben, i've got one of these evo connected 3's coming, does the on/off output allow for a 12 on/12 off timer? This is a great video 👌

Hi Mikey, yes it does, I use it as a timer for my lights that way, you set the time you want on and off, so if you want 12 and 12 that is fine. Great piece of kit. Thanks for watching and glad it was useful. Will do a few more reviews once I move into my new room.

Great review, one question I've ordered 4 of these to run 8 vivariums...can both heating channels be dimming as I'm using deep heat projectors.

Hi Ian, yes pulse or dimming on two channels I just use the third for the lights. I am using one for two vivs on deep heat projectors and a UV in both. Really pleased with them and have four myself so far.

@@igemm78 really straightforward, just use the ‘Fixed’ setting with ‘Day and night’ it really is easy to use. I have the white python four way splitter.

This one does two heat sources (pulse, dimmer) and one light.I have splitters on the lights so one stat controls two vivariums. They are really good.

Are the govee's water proof? how well do they cope / last in the wet humidity of the viv?

They are water resistant, I tend to avoid spraying directly. Obviously submerging water they would be no good. They are designed to measure relative humidity in the air not how wet the enclosure is. I find them really useful and much better than the ‘reptile’ versions.

Hi, can you use all three channels for heating purposes? I get there is a dimming and pulse channel, but can the third be used for a heat source as well. I am looking to get one to control 3 levels in my snake rack. Thanks

Hi Michael, it does do heating as well but won’t dim or pulse. Personally for a rack I use an old EVO which I have put a four point extension on, has worked well for years now, I put the probe on the middle heat pad. You can just use an extension lead rather than cut wires like I did, HerpXotics just use a Habistat pulse (a favourite of mine) with an extension for five levels.

I have thought about going down the route of having one thermostat and an extension lead for the heat mats but I find it slightly concerning just having one probe to measure the heat, are you not worried about one of the heat mats failing and the probe not measuring it?

@@175mikeblue never had that but I put in Govee or inkbird thermohydrometers which connect to my phone, you can set alerts and alarm for temp and humidity changes depending on the values you enter. I use them on all my vivs. Don’t use second hand heat pads would be another tip.

I have a question, Could i set this up to turn my uvb bulb on/off and my basking bulb to dimming mode after a certain time?

Yes, that is how I use mine, if it is for one enclosure you might just want the connected 2. The connected 3 will control two heaters and a light at the same time.

Yes and also the lights from the third channel also you can select pulse or dimming.

@@BGPythons that's good to know. I have 2 vivs stacked together at the moment that are on seperate day/night digital stats and one of them is failing so may just replace the both of them with this one single. I take it you get a probe for each viv? I need 2 different temps

You can set the temperature to whatever you would want but you would be restricted based on the wattage of your heat source. So if you had a monitor that required extremely high temps it would manage to do that.

Interesting, You are all registered on the app and setup a profile? Should then be straightforward to add a device.

Yes I set it up and it has three stages then it only does the first two then it says it can’t configure :( it’s driving me mental

I hope so as you said they aren’t cheap. I tried phoning earlier but thought it was the 2.4ghz connection thing that wasn’t working as I had a cctv camera that wouldn’t work at home but did at work. However I’ve now addressed that and it’s working so I can’t work out what the issue is. I was hoping your video would show me the setting up in action that’s how I stumbled upon you, I was looking for a video to try and work out what if anything I was doing wrong.

If the evos were like, for example the herpstat 4 (all others models are also great), which has removable power cord and sensors!, At least half of outlets can be dimming or pulse, and all of then can be used for heating / cooling / lighting, and 2 of the 4 can be configured for humidity. If microclimate could at least match the reliability, funtionality and practicality of the herpstats it would be the ULTIMATE thermostat, but no, microclimate choose not to be the number 1 in the market. Even without the app the herpstat is THE best reptile /arthropod thermostat out there. No gimmicks, all true funtionality, they focused in what is really important for the user.

I would love to get hold of. Herpstat, we can’t as far as I know get them in the UK (or can we). I like the removable elements of those. I don’t see the app access as a gimmick though and that connectivity allows microclimate to know what is going on if there is an issue, five year warranty is good as well for peace of mind. By far the best of the UK stats in my opinion.

It could be an awesome device, the best in the market, but they are not, the brand took some poor desicions we decided attach permanently the probes and the screen, the device has waay to much cables, in my opinion the should built the female ports in the main box, change to detachable probes for easy replacement, add 4 outlets and 1 probe for each one, 2 probes with the capacity for humidity and the other 2 pulse/dimming/on-off, the colorful screen make also detachable and purchaseable separately

Device is absolutely awful the touch screen is horrific it’s ability to connect with the phone app is also horrific would highly recommend people stay away from it

These Evo's are pure crap, not worth the money. The system clock works not exactly, the screen doesnt wake up when screensaver is activated, so you have to pull the Plug and restart it. Save your money and buy another brand.

I’ve not had that problem and I have ten of them, have you spoke to them as the customer service is pretty good.
