Absolutely the Chiefs have played through many good times in this decade but there are those games and those years that we have struggled as a group and as a whole and Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are a step forward in the right direction

Nah, not really. Only 4 QB's/5 teams have won a superbowl since the Broncos last won a championship. Gotta take the lows with the highs, and almost every team has some lows within 5 or so years of a championship. Saints, Packers, Colts, Ravens, Giants and those are just the winners of those super bowls. The Steelers had a couple 8-8 years 2 years after their super bowl. Just the nature of the beast, and the Broncos FO has been more incompetent than many who came off a superbowl win. BUT most teams fanbases would gladly swap with Denver for the last 8-10 years.

The Broncos will probably have the longest playoff drought of any team after this year. They look more and more like a dysfunctional organization with every passing week. It’s one thing to make a bad trade; you can move on from that. But to give Russ a 250 mil 5 year contract before he even plays a down for you… is malpractice. George Paton made an awful mistake that likely set us back years.

@Inconnu 49 Bear fans are happy they're losing at this point. They think they have a guy at qb. They're content with that. I dont think they've ever seen this many 30pt games. They also have by far the most cap space next year. It was known going into this season that they were punting on this year when they cut or traded everyone and cleared the books of old aging contracts. They want the highest draft spot possible. Right now they're #2 behind the Texans. I say they trade out for a haul and get front seven players and lineman with their draft capital and or cap space. Packers, Eagles, Bills, Lions and Vikings in the last 5 weeks. Only one winnable game, they could give the Texans a run for their money at the #1 spot.

@@wisewolftony in the playoffs the only team in the NFC I would pick over them is the Eagles, and that's definitely not a lock. From the AFC, Chiefs and Dolphins can beat them, Bills are close so I'll throw them in. So at the lowest - for the time being because that's how power rankings work - I'd have them #5, so #3 isn't some crazy stretch

I mean owning the Broncos first 2 round picks back to back years is just killer for the Seattle especially since this year they will be top picks. Seahawks are going to be a contender again really soon imo

Defense has been great to brilliant all those years since though. We just need a rebuild on one side. And we have definitely been trying.

@@unfixedarm5244 you might not want to hear it, or even appreciate it since I'm a chiefs fan, but I remember my team in the 90s, and how good the defense was. How much money was used to maintain it for as long as they did. They even spent money on the offensive line and it was pretty good as well. But from an occasional good season from a running back, the offense could not perform beyond the running game at all. Yeah they won a bunch of games, but overall they failed when the games mattered. They should have spent more on offense like wide receiver and tight ends and just a little less on defense, and they should have been drafting QBs until they found one instead of taking 49er cast offs. Broncos were never just a QB away from a superbowl run. They haven't been for more than a few seasons now. The Wilson trade is looking really bad, and will set them back for a few more seasons until they can start a full rebuild. You would think that would make me happy, and to be honest it kinda does in a way. But for the most part I want the AFC west to be competitive with each other, and the rivalry to have meaning. I miss that kind of football.

It really is an epic shitshow. As a lifelong Seahawk fan I was tired of RW but never thought things would go this bad in Denver. It's a remarkable convergence of shit. It was interesting, fascinating and entertaining. Now it's turned ugly and sad. This Broncos season is a bust for the ages.
