Honest opinion: I've been following this channel since the 76 debacle and you guys were one of my favorite gaming commentary channels. When Ralph left I figured it was over. The chemistry was too good and you were absolutely a joy to watch. Buuuut. I have really been enjoying the addition of thiccboi. I like him and I think there's a chance to reclaim the magic and turn the ship right again. 👍👍

They becamen part of an actual company of a few different creators, so it is likely that Ralph needed to focus on his own channel, SkillUp. Laymen Gaming was originally a side thing he started with Sam for casual bamter on gaming news. But once they joined up with the other creators no doubt their company told them that they need to have a focus or plan to make their brands (SkillUp and Laymen Gaming "profitable"). Sadly, they went the corporate route and that is why Ralph needed to focus on SlillUp. It is not only Ralph and Sam anymore. They are part of a company now and need to satisfy the goals of their group now.

@@effrumtheretardo No, they're not. They're interesting, informative, and not ruined by Sam's ignorant babbling and childishness. Ralph was always the star as demonstrated by the meteoric growth of his channel since he went solo.

I love skill up and I love new laymen with Alec, just as I loved old laymen with Ralph. The vibe is different, the delivery is different. To call Sams contributions “childish babbling” is I think to miss the point of the channel: banter. It’s not a zero sum game, you can prefer one without slating the other.

Nintendos fanboys will continue to defend this but the switch is just objectivly garbage hardware wise. It is worse than a ps3. A console from 2017 is worse than one with outdated hardware for even that time from 2006. It's old af and needs an upgrade, end of discussion.

Not worth, just buy a next gen console or stick to PC if you want to experiance 60fps amd better performance for games. Actually just online gaming in general. Switch has no voice chat, no invite system. Can't even record the gameplay for long and hear your friends in the background. Can't play music while playing on switch or watch a video. It's just missing so many basic features

People need to learn to deal with disappointment and with the way nintendo has been handling their console since 2006. I am not surprised. Their online is worst then the original sega dreamcast (1999). The dreamcast had Mics that plugged into the controller also had messaging friends ect.

Last time I held my Switch I instantly noticed PIXELS.. this thing just needs 4k resolution or something, the screen looks sooo bad because of the low resolution, OLED aint gonna fix it.

The switch itself is an overall improvement from the WiiU and 3DS. So it's not like Nintendo isn't improving. They always play it safe with their upgrades and its honestly surprising to see how high everyone held their expectations for this upgrade release. Edit: I'm not defending Nintendo for the record. Just mentioning that this isn't new. They are known for this and it was expected that their "upgrade" would be underwhelming.

Thing is rumors may have played a lil into it. but even with the rumors aside what was announced is just sad there's so much that is needed for the switch to succeed, so much other stuff that needed to be addressed especially with the PS5 and Xbox series x getting ready to push more games power making it even more difficult for the switch to get ports of top games, which is what the developers have told Nintendo why they cant build there games on the system. Nintendo really has to step it up power wise it's way to out dated to not drop a stronger system

@@wakingwithamask thing is, nintendo has not been suceeding because of those 3rd party game, heck i can count the amount of demanding ps4 and xbox 0ne game on the switch right now and like 5 of them are cloud games. this is the list of most of them. vampyr doom doom eternal Wolfenstein 2 wolfenstein young blood the witcher 3 resident evil 7(cloud) control(cloud) NBA 2k Mortal kombat 11 hitman(cloud) a plague tale(cloud) overwatch(mid Tier) apex legend wareframe paladins(mid tier) outer worlds immortals fenyx rising(mid tier) Starlink(mid tier) I know i might have a couple missing but this is about it. the rest are PS3 xbox 360 games, indies, low budget jrpgs, and nintendo franshises. the idea that big 3rd party games has made the switch is not true at all. while it is a selling point, it is not the reason people have bought the switch but the other offering that have made the switch worth buying.

In terms of performance I was never wanting something that would leave the OG Switch behind entirely. I did however want to play games like Hyrule Warriors without the unacceptable frame drops and stutter every few seconds. It was unreasonable to expect 4K on this Switch, just a modest boost in performance to help with some of the more sluggish games would’ve been perfect.

I haven’t played my switch in a long time. I loved it in 2017 but I had to replace the joy con three times and I bought multiple games that play like absolute ass. This could have brought me back but I will just use my current t switch as a hollow knight, breath of the wild and dragon quest 11 machine

After playing so long on my Switch Lite, I couldn't bear switching to a bigger and heavier model just for a nicer screen. If they had announced an OLED Switch Lite then I probably would have bought it, but I just cannot make sense of Nintendo's decision to upgrade their least portable SKU with a bunch of features that will only benefit handheld users...

The launch Switch was 2 generations behind when it came out. Now, it's three generations behind. The damn thing can't even display 1080p, which is NOT NEW. It's way past time for a properly upgraded version.

thing is for a portable system we are not getting 1080p for graphically intensive games that are not running in a cloud system anytime soon, the tech is not their yet. heck my laptop that has a 1060 cant do it, and phones nether. if anything we might get a switch 2 in about 2 year from now with a 1080p screen but games running from 1080 to 640p base on the demand the games have. also if gamers want a 4k switch, we are going to need to pay the price for something like that, as it is going to be expensive to get it close as it will require a top of the line GPU and CPU, with a top of the line cooling system, and battery to make it work. and i dont think people will be willing to pay 1000 dollar for it.

Probably the biggest problem is how most of the upgrades only affect it in handheld mode even though most people use it primarily in docked mode.

I know you're a Nintendo cultist who's never going to listen to any critism of their products but come on. You're in denial if you think 720p is acceptable. The console is worse than the ps3 from 2006! If the hardware was better they'd be able to make better games but the hardware is so restrictive. Just compare the witcher 3 switch port to PC. It's night and day. There is no reason to stick with this 2 decade old tech, the switch sucks, your phone would run BOTW better.

I feel like I have heard "a switch pro is coming" from games media for like 2 years. No one had sources, no one named names, no one reported where they heard it from. I am amused that at this point in time people still get disappointed in something related to gaming that didn’t meet their expectations. Unless i am incorrect I seem to remember back when the Nintendo switch was going to be released many people were bashing it both in media and the public. Did their views change with 84 million units sold so far? I think Nintendo knows what they are doing.

With the ethernet port in the dock i have a feeling that we will see a lot more cloud based games and possibly even Xbox Xcloud coming to the switch. That would solve the situation where the switch would be left behind.

I never would of bought a Switch if I wouldn’t of been able to get major 3rd party games. I absolutely play Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon games, but the main selling point for me was being able to play games like Xcom 2, Steamworld (not major but still love em), Assassin’s Creed, South Park, Valkyria Chronicles, Terraria (not entirely sure where this would fall), Sword Art Online, Borderlands, Dark Souls, etc. Being able to play games like these wherever and whenever I want was the #1 selling point for me, and I’d be willing to bet that a lot of new Switch owners are the same way. It’s why the console sales just aren’t stopping, and why they probably won’t stop. A “pro” version was desperately needed and they failed miserably.

I'm not happy about it being just the same switch but with a better screen and the mystical technology called a _LAN port_ , but I've needed to replace my switch for awhile now and a better screen is a welcome addition. I don't blame anyone else for not wanting it, though.

Just make it an optional pro model like PS4 Pro or XSX. Scaling games down to meet the Switch specs is hard but scaling up from there should be easy AF. I was hoping to get into Nintendo Switch ecosystem, guess that's but a pipe dream. Not good enough.

As with others I was expecting at least a better new GPU/CPU/RAM and Storage which is what it got an extra 32GB more. But all I can see if that screen, large stand and a dock with a Lan port than should have been on the original dock, to not have included a Lan port on the original dock in the first place was a stupid idea. Should have been the hardware upgrades because Nvidia have a new version of that chip

The Switch Pro was always a rumour, and that rumour spread like wild fire amongst a relatively small population that believes every story they read on social media. Nintendo never said that the Switch Pro was in the works, nor did they ever say that was their plan for the console. I'm not disappointed in the least.

They want to make the most $$ they can since the Switch is selling like hot cakes. The way I see it is, they double down on the switch and it’s users by releasing x2 models, first being the OLED with NO Spec bump, then a second model that has all the same features as the OLED in 2-3 years time with updated internal specs. Seems like the most logical way to make the most $ but also sooo soo out of touch with it’s consumers. Then again, we all know people will buy this.

You've got to ask yourself, why would Nintendo create the Switch Pro right now? They're still not having trouble selling Switches. They have a fixed platform currently so only have to develop for one spec level and they traditionally don't get caught up in the 'must go faster' wars of the other console manufacturers, instead tending to concentrate on other areas. I think the better screen is an entirely Nintendo course of action. It's not that there won't be a Switch Pro or New Switch or whatever they call it at some point. But at this point in time there is no sound reason to do it other than people think they want one, and Nintendo traditionally don't listen to people outside Nintendo...

yep, Nintendo knows they can still wait a couple of years, also they are testing other ways to deal with graphically demanding games, we have gotten a couple of cloud version games on the switch already. to me this is Nintendo and other companies experimenting with that tech to see if people are willing to use it in the future.

@@incogneeto982 It's not wrong to want a system that can play games well, no. But what you'd have with an actual Switch Pro is a split market like the 3DS/New 3DSXL scenario, but even worse. New games would only be able to run on the "Pro" system, and anyone who isn't able to buy a new model (a problem made especially painful during a global semiconductor shortage, with scalpers also thrown in the mix) would be screwed. There *might* be a system with actual improvements coming down the line later, but this was a smart call on Nintendo's part to ensure as many people as possible can keep playing Switch games given the circumstances.

Switch Indies are moot when they cost double to triple versus basically everywhere else. Power is not my problem its price. Everything is on sale on PS4 anyways so there isn't really a rush to get anything new.

People really need to cool their jets on rumors. Time and time again they are led to this narrative by news sites and leakers, and although some of them are true, the ones that aren't end up bringing a collective degree of disappointment. Unfortunately, RU-vidrs perpetuate this unfair rumors cycle for a quick buck and even worse, some will spit on the fans for holding that certain expectation of a product, refusing to take accountability in how they might've had a hand in setting that belief in their viewers and the overall community.
