This is literally not a spoiler, people. It was revealed in a trailer months ago. You just forgot. It wasn't revealed months ago, they showed a new symbol in the UI that presumably relates to whatever this is (not really looking into it yet). I assumed, as I'm sure a lot of people did, that the new symbol meant something like "type is picked based on X/Y/Z criteria". Like how Ogerpon's tera type changes with its mask or something. I didn't think it was a new type. And now I guess I know, from this video title, before I played the DLC. Also some people don't watch trailers to avoid stuff like this. Should they just unsub from channels like yours knowing you're going to put stuff like this in your coverage titles...?

i think normal and dragon types are going to be the most effective users for this tera type, since those types massively rely on strong neutral stabs, having a boost on their coverage to hit types that resist or are immune can make them very effective sweepers

I think there’s a serious case to make for Hisuian Zoroark using stellar tera. It’s type is already its best feature with the 3 immunities and good offensive pressure, and terastallizing into anything besides normal or ghost (or maybe fairy for defense) only hurt it since it loses its immunities. With stellar, it keeps its defenses as well as boosting its shadow balls, hyper voices and flamethrowers.
@Altered999

great idea, hisuian zoroark disguised as iron hands/ other fake out pokémon is really strong on ladder. it forces an awkward decision, usually a switch or a tera to dodge fake out, when you can respond with a ghost move. but if you run stellar tera it just boosts the threat.

Essentially, every new Pokémon is relevant to a certain degree in VGC, it seems. There are many cool new moves. The Protect that burns is awesome. A rock move that hits through Protect. I feel like one thing overlooked is for pokemon like you mentioned Rillaboom and Araquanid who want to spam that STAB but get walled by a specific tera. Such a Heatran going Tera Grass, you just pop Stellar Tera Blast. Suddenly both have an option for that while still covering for Tera Dragon on other things. Sure araquanid could bug bite in that situation or rillaboom can u-turn (and still get boosts in stellar) but 4 moveslot syndrome still exists and consolidating coverage is really helpful for your main damage source.

And for the last id pick tera blast for anti tera coverage. You lose some Atk and SpA, but, besides itself, you arent losing to much damage output for the quick 1-2 times youd use it. Another build would be a full aoe focused build with hypervoice, earthquake, snarl, and whichever 4th you want wether it be tera blast for tera coverage, sleep talk for anti sleep build, body slam for weak Def bodies, or whatever else you want.

So basically, Tera Stellar is best used on a Pokémon that already has an amazing defensive dual typing that it doesn't want to lose and a diverse move pool to take advantage of the one-time use power boosts, preferably 4 attacking moves.

If the Pokémon is on the field for 4 or less attacks, then it’s worth it. Any more than that and another Tera type gains a huge advantage, moderate benefit to aggressive strategies, but if there is any setup or risk of them going down before 4 turns, so you want some decent bulk to push it from a 1.3 hits to kill, to a 1 or lower attacks to kill, getting over that additional attack threshold is super important. Even a 2.1 to a 2 or lower would be great. (Before anyone comments, just using decimals bc of being close to 1 shotting happens a lot and small stat changes make a huge difference)

What i wanna know is: does Tera Blast hit everything for neutral if the targets arent tera'd? Also, does it always lower your stats? Or is it only when you hit a tera mon? I honestly think this will be better than you think, Marcos. As you said, most teras are done defensively, so this is a way to break through them. I see these as similar to Z moves, but a bit more balanced. I see assault vest pokes and contrary mons like serperior and enamorus getting big with this, because they can boost themselves while doing coverage damage with tera blast. Really big for enamorus who can't contrary boost sp atk without teammate support or opposing moomblasts and etc. Also, if you regain the boost from switching out, pivot mons are gonna be crazy.

I definitely agree with the idea that the stellar tera type is more for offensive coverage capable Pokemon. I came up with the silly idea (whilst not very original) of using a Cinccino with the HA skill link along with the moves tail slap, triple axel, bullet seed and rock blast with an expert belt. However I think a Pokemon with a lot of natural resistances could make use of it in the right scenario, even if they don't have a lot of coverage just to pop that one opposing tera Pokemon you don't want to deal with.

No need to change type really, cuz of the low Super effective chance Like Normal, Electric, Ghost, Fairy, Water and Poison. Side note: I know Ground is a pretty common offensive type, I'm just saying Electic and Poison cuz they have 1 to 2 weaknesses. The only true stellar winner will be enamorus-i imo. Yeah there’s other contrary mons like malamar or serperior to abuse the stellar tera blast stat drops, but enamorus got fairy + ground coverage which is already an amazing duo offensively and the stellar tera blast can function as both a contrary boost and a great punisher of defensive tera. Plus fairy + flying is already a solid defensive type as is

I think your analysis of who may want to use it (coverage machines) is good, but I think you're undervaluing the potential it has. It'll especially help against strong pokemon that use their teras both defensively (i.e. heatran, chien-pao) and offensively (i.e. flutter, kingambit, urshifu). Those coverage machines might be willing to fit Tera blast to hit for super effective even if they normally couldn't or had bad coverage for those types (i.e. Noivern has great type coverage but some of its options are dogwater, like Water Pulse for its water coverage. If noivern were actually good it may want to use stellar Tera to hit rock, ground, and fire tera types for super effective)
@RedL1keRoses7

Valiant could definitely use this I think. Usually is running a tonne of coverage and it’s already got a great typing. Also, with how frail it is, it still takes a tonne of damage after using its tera, so changing types wouldn’t be too impactful for it when you could just use stellar and boost all your moves
