Very professional. Very respectful. Very honest. Both you and the BOBOVR Team have our gratitude for such admirable behavior. This is the beauty of a tightknit VR community. It is imperative for the future of this technology that we keep this attitude.
That really means a lot to me you say that! I was impressed Bobo acted so quickly to stop the product. I hope they can find a satisfactory solution quickly and figure out how to get it out to the people who still got theirs before I had time to test. This comment really did make me feel better because I've been a bit down in the dumps today after this. Thanks Pixel!
@@jaybratt gladly. There’s a lot more I Can’t put into words, but I’m sure even the people who pre-ordered the product off of your recommendation agree that BOBO admitting their failure and making it right is a better outcome than if their product was the best grips out there.
I agree. Any company can ride a wave of success but stopping sale and shipping on these so suddenly over just my words felt like it means a lot to them to protect and make their consumers proud of their purchases. Thanks bear!
Definitely unfortunately, but I expect Bobo will do what they need to do to make it right. Although I would expect to get an email from them as mine are in transit...
Good on them for getting the report and immediately stopping all sales to fix the problem. Don't have a Quest 3 (on the fence about it. May just end up waiting to see what competitors are cooking up) but I was curious about Bobo's grips since I do have some of their accessories for my Quest 2. Hopefully they'll take your critiques to heart and come back with a new and more improved product.
Yes, other companies are cooking but i would not expect something way better than original Quest 3. Most apps on HorizonOS will target Quest 3 with maybe some additional features for other headsets here and there. Something like face tracking and (or) eye tracking. In that situation i would've said just get Quest pro, because it already has all of it but apparently you would then miss Quest 3 exclusives that are coming. Personally Q3 is ok, sadly it needs 3rd party head strap to not give any head pain.
They knew they were flawed from the start. A lot of people in the company were involved to get a product all the way to the shipping stage. Thanks for calling them out. Hopefully they will tighten up the ship.
I agree and I do kind of think those pins are steps toward doing that. I wonder if they were busy testing it with whatever battery door replacement they have coming so they didn't see how it would slip out like this without that
...aaand also Kiwi has plastic in the bottom instead of an empty pocket... The whole point of a long grip is to be rigid, so I doubt, that the designer of this grip has ever used Quest... It's pity, especially because I can't upgrade from Quest 2 until there's a long grip, because my custom-made 30oz weighted gloves need a long grip to be properly stabilized during fast movements.
Wow I got my Quest 3 yesterday and pre-ordered the bobo s3 pro yesterday and wanted to order their grip as well but it said sold out on their website so I ordered the AMVR ones on Amazon and literally just finished installing them and saw your video right after :S Thank you so much for letting them know about the flaw!
@@jaybratt Of course, totally my pleasure! I was so curious about those long grips as well to see if they'd make my experience better and I was worried that Quest 3's controllers would be smaller in my hands but I couldn't find a good-rated long grip on Amazon that passed my FakeSpot review tests. Then I opted for the AMVR grips and I am so glad I've done so because they feel like the Kiwi grips from my Quest 2 which are great. Thanks again for warning the Bobo team for all the amazing videos you make!
This is why I like the AMVR ones that came out so long ago that have the battery door. I like the silicone better than the hard plastic feel, and the AMVR grips have the hole for the IR tracking, and the battery door.
tbh if you make an "extended" grip obviously you made it with the intent of making ppl grip it lower than usual... I am wondering if the reason behind the issue is the "make it cheaper", or just save in cost... I can't understand the point of making an extended controller grip and leave the extended part empty making this part pointless... and now when you squeez this empty section the controller slip out, In my opinion they made the grip, they tested it, they changed the design just before the launch and they never test this new version or it's impossible that they didn't saw this flaw.
Very good on you to catch this flaw and somewhat good on BoboVR to stop selling them. This is the reason I subscribed to your channel because it seems that you actually care about the products and your viewers. I understand that while it’s good on BoboVR to stop selling the grips, I also say it’s bad on them for not catching this issue earlier. It seems like their recent choices in products are very concerning. I have made comments on previous videos where I totally disagree with their decision on the new S3 batteries to only work on their products and not allow charging also for other devices. This issue from these new grips kind of show that maybe BoboVR are trying to push out products a little faster than they should with bad decisions. But thank you Jay for bringing attention to these issues with your videos. Keep up the great work!
I've got these and I was really worried regarding the issues highlighted by Jay but upon using them, for me at least these are actually great and their issues for Jay don't exist for me. 1. Starting off, BoboVR refunded me on them due to the recall so they are now effectively free for me. 2. The slip out risk, this depends how you hold the controllers but it isn't a risk for me as my thumb rests on the controller and keeps it in even if it were to slip at all. I come from a Valve Index so my natural controller grip keeps them secured without any risk of flying away and I am a regular beatsaber, pistolwhip, and synthriders player so I do a lot of waving my hands around violently. 3. The extended part being squishy - This when I learnt about it was very off putting as previous extended grips extended them with a plastic frame but it again isn't an issue. The bottom is fairly firm, and how you would naturally hold the controller, it isn't going to squish them at any point. Only seems to be an issue if you hold the controller at the bottom as if it were a long saber grip which doesn't even work with grips like this that have a knuckle strap. I also love the matt texture of them and the suede like material on the strap. Overall, quite happy and I'm going to give them a good test to see if they would replace the AMVR grips I have.
Once again. Amazon currently has extended grips for the q3 in stock. Apexinno is the brand. They won't have the problem the bobovr has as the grip includes the battery door. They're great. I use em myself.
Thanks for being honiest this is why I watch your shows and respect your option highly....Your credibility was on the line and retention of your fans... Luckily I saw this video and you posted it as I would have bought it with no hesitation if you had given the thumbs-up on them and learned the hard way which would have damaged our respect for your channel and Bovoo. Hopefully they will work with you to rectify and hold on to the reputation they have earned.
That means a lot to me to hear that. I was really worried when I discovered this about Bobo already shipping them and them immediately stopping it gave me more respect for them. Not an easy choice to make I'm sure
I was a bit feel a bit disappointed that I purchased the official ones with my Quest 3. Now I am beginning to think that maybe the official ones were not such bad value after all. It seems very professional of BoboVR to acknowledge the fault and stop sales.
How fast everything happened is kinda crazy. Jaybratt, you have a very important impact on VR Accessories. Help make the future of Vr accessories worthwhile! ❤ 🐀
I got the apexinno extended grips recently, they're great. They have a battery door cover, and the top of the grip wraps around to help keep it in place. it even has a cord on the bottom like the valve index you push a button to adjust. Awesome grips, great for my big hands.
Their attitude and quick response gives me hope they'll sort it out. I'm pretty happy with my current grips but if they release a charging station compatible with redesigned grips I'm def buying them
I bought similar (cheap) on aliexpress "Silicone Handle Protective Cover For Quest 3 Anti-collision Protector Case With Battery Opening Cover Steering Knuckle Cover" and have a battery door to prevent slipping. The strap is also attached to the battery cover, which also prevents the silicone from slipping.
Oh no, mine have shipped according to Bobo. Looks like they will have to go back. My question how was something like that missed? Seems a simple problem and an easy one to spot.
BOBO VR has always been my Go To product mainly because of your recommendations and have always been satisfied. This also proves that they put customer service over profit by heeding your warning and stopping the shipping before any disaster happens. Great save , Jay, and I’m sure BOBO VR will fix this problem and put out a much better product ASAP.
Great review as usual, Jay! And thank you for the warnings, and your comms with Bobovr. I ordered a set from them as soon as they went up - they're meant to be delivered this week. Disappointing to hear about the flaw, but I'm fairly confident they'll make things right.
Wasn't planning on getting these grips, but thanks for the warning and info about them. I just use my hand controllers to select menus sitting down, so I do not do any wild gamiing with my Quest 3, anyyway not yet. Great video, take care.
kudos for being this honest! A lot of youtubers shill stuff and won't criticize the flaws, you making an update video to address this is what makes your channel special, better than the other "reviewers".
I'm glad they stopped so quickly, but sad to say I did kinda call this on the earlier video announcing them... Silicon grips just, don't really work out the best.
Mine are shipped and almost here.. Crap, good that I've watched the next video from before I actually used them. I wonder what they will do with customers that already got theirs shipped.
Great video. I'm not a fan of the silicone full cover grips and I stick to the ProTube solution, but of the many I've tried I feel like Kiwi has the strongest lip around the face of the controller.
Hey so I was wondering if you could do a video showing if certain accecories fit with different products like for example do the meta quest pro controllers for in the meta name brand charging dock and do the recharable batteries for inside and if the bobovr grips fit with the charging dock and stuff like that
I put these on an played population one and noticed it does make the grips longer an it does move on you while playing and the trigger on the right hand gets covered to where you can't shoot I had to take them off I'm going to wait for there redesign 👍🏼
They actually just sent an email out today to all the original buyers that they are replacing theirs soon and they will be launching the replacement this week: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wgGVdvS_pzY.html
Bummer about the grips! But, serious props to BOBO for acting quick on this! And thank you Jay for testing and letting them know! I love BOBO, so hopefully this turns around and ENDS up being a success story!
Honestly, this is why I love BoboVR as a company, they take feedback seriously and stop production of something if there is a flaw that needs to be fixed. I wasn't planning on getting these grips because they don't have a battery door, but hope that Bobo will be making something like that when they fix the flaw with these grips.
The problem is they sent them into full production without testing them. It’s basically the VR equivalent to the Cybertruck accelerator pedal. Send 100 grips out to be tested for a week first. Pay some retired 40yr mechanics to criticize your new truck during the design process.
Well damn, I ordered a set for me and surprised ordered a set for my friend and they already shipped..... Thankfully Bobo had a great return policy which is why I ordered them in the first place.
i'm one of those who hold controller completely all the time so to me that doesn't really affect but i feel sorry for those who play games like beat saber.
I love your videos I love meta and bought a couple stuff that you recommended because I can’t find any other content creators that do what you do so thank you for who you are
mine are already on there way i hope they will refund them. in the span of two weeks i purchase two s3 head straps the battery dock and extra battery and now these two grips I'm happy with the previous products so far the head strap rocks but i'm not taking my chances on these grips.
Their other products get such good reviews, but this has ruined their reputation in my mind. I don't yet have any of their products and I don't think I ever will
It's good that they halted sales, but if I'm totally honest, this seems like such an obvious flaw. If 60 seconds of testing was all that was required to find the problem, it's pretty shameful that this product got as far as it did.
So why don't they test the product before, while let us waste our money for a product that's unfinished. Sound like games nowadays. Taking shortcut just for money.
Comments full of simps. Bobo would have known of this problem if they tested their products. No qa is not good especially since they sell batteries. Never buying anything bobovr
