Stalker is the only game i can recall that the modding community rebuilt the studio's original graphics engine (x-ray engine) from the ground up in order to increase performance and allow the modding community to continue doing what they do for the love of the game. I'd place GSC, the studio behind the game, in the ranks of Fromsoft and CDPR in terms of dedication to world creation and immersion so if GSC are true to their word, I expect this game to flourish for another 15 years. Really looking forward to the release of this game and entering the zone again (for the umpteenth time).
strange that you'd put From Software next to GSC and CDPR. as much as I adore From Software for their games, they did absolutely nothing to accommodate modding. everything modders do with Souls games happens in spite of the company that made them, not because of it.
Morrowind fans (Bethesda game fans) are currently recreating the Morrowind engine to allow Morrowind to be played as an open source game. The project is called OpenMW, and it's only on version 0.49 for now, but they have accomplished some stuff like enhanced graphics rendering, 64 bit program, better shaders for enhanced shadows and lighting, and are slowly making their way to full Lua script implementation in hopes of pushing the modding even further. They are also attempting to let the engine de-hardcode certain elements of Morrowind so that way things like making animations isn't some archaic work around. After OpenMW fully implements Morrowind, they have intentions to push for expanding to Oblivion as well, and Even Skyrim, which they do have demos showcasing the loading of assets for those games. They've even gotten Fallout 3 and New Vegas to load as well! Obviously, Bethesda isn't getting any awards or commendations for world creation when each game has more inconsistencies with the last, but the modding community is just as insane. You can even play modded Morrowind on Android because of OpenMW, too!
The difference with the original Stalker is that the source code is available and nobody is going to go after the modders for using original code, GSC essentially gave away the code that the mods are built on. This is definitely not going to happen with Stalker 2 and we are unsure what modding (if any) will be available on UE5
Falcon BMS is just the same, in fact on an even (much) larger scale. They've essentially rewritten the original Falcon 4 from '98 taking it from Direct3D to DirectX12 with VR and a complete overhaul of avionics to be the single best and most accurate, by far, sim representation of the F-16. It's incredible what modders can do, especially when they have access to real avionics documentation
I remember purchasing the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R on the day 1 release and the joy in playing it. The stalker series is what started the PC enthusiast in me.
There was no level up system in the original games as well. The only "level up" is the better equipment you get, but if you suck, not even an exoskeleton will save you.
Yeah! and that was great! it is why it called a survival game and I am a fan of this! no skills to acquire, instead bear Artifacts with you, no level ups, find best equipment instead! Nice note dude👍👍
My favorite video game universe, I cannot wait to sink my teeth into stalker 2 and the unlimited possibilities this game will have with mods in the future
@@Nobody___ youll be lucky if the games out in the future watch the deep dive its a joke they showed one area the rest is pre rendered footage they have shown for years
The previous STALKER games are my favorite games ever so I hope STALKER 2 actually comes out this year, because my health hasn't been doing well and the older I get the worse I get and not sure how much longer I can go on.
@@smarshallsay Think he joking about jacks voice sounding deeper and it's like a Meta joke of RU-vid that all the "OG You Tubers" now sound old and ruffled. Jack was one of the OG FPS RU-vid Channels
@@jukke96 he's 64 years old and at Time of my comment no health issues, thank god🤞He was Lieutenant(after you finish University they gave degree of Lieutenant) in Soviet army and was not the main workforce and i think higher ejucation saved his life
I'm so happy they made the graphics and aesthetics still give off the same dreary, dark and dead atmosphere as the first games. Even though it's also with UE5, they've managed to retain that atmosphere.
Never played S.T.A.L.K.E.R., never read the book, but did watch the movie a few weeks ago... and loved the little detail of throwing bolts to scout the anomalies lol
I wish the mutants twirled at the top of the Whirlygigs for just a bit longer before exploding. That new animation quite amuses me. On release, I might have to see about tracking down the .ini file and start making some adjustments. 🛠
Greetings Y'all, love your content Jack & game play with the boys.. Another good ukrainian game , the guy with the beard is an Azov fighter name: Oleksandr "Sei" Laptiy he is in the CGI suit for 3d scanning and is working with with his squad on the front lines, he was only permitted to do the scanning for the new game for a short time since he was used in the original game. Sorry for the long spiel guys, so I understand if this is deleted since there are some very sensitive people out there. cheers jack for your good work again.
Stalker was a game that captured my attention from about 12-14 years old, I kept watching the trailer and random videos about it. After a bit I finally got my parents to purchase it and loved it! The atmosphere was like nothing else I'd ever experienced. It got even better when I installed one of the major mods for it (Forgot the name Oblivion lost maybe) and it turned into a hardcore, atmospheric, horror experience like nothing else. Anyway, as a long time Stalker fan I am glad to see STALKER 2 in the flesh.
We thank you, oh Monolith, for revealing the cunning plans of your enemies to us. May your light shine down on the souls of the brave soldiers who gave their lives in service to your will. Onward warriors of the Monolith, avenge your fallen brothers, blessed as they are in their eternal union with the Monolith.
i hope they do come back with a bang. considering how psy emissions works in lore, technically any kind of radio emitter can be converted to a psy emitter, so technically the brain scorcher or other dugar emitters could be turned on again by a small team. considering theres alot more stalkers in the center with lacking psy protection this would be devastating.
I hope the AI is as good as they say it is. The biggest problem with the stalker games imo is the stealth mechanics. They just never worked. Even the modded versions. Either no one knows you're there or everyone knows exactly where you are at all times, even through bushes and cover. It's annoying. Feels to me like they took alot of stuff from popular mods, polished and improved it. I love it. Those weapon models look awesome. Can't wait to see what the modding community is going to cook up too.
You could actually do stealth in the first game, but it was a pain because AI vision at night if there is a pixel of light on you they will get alerted, moding also didn't fixed because all AI behavior would be needed to rewritten together with a life system because they are both tied to each other.
I could always flank the enemy in the old games if I played smart. After initiating a gunfight I would get in cover and then make my way around and let the enemy move in on my old position, often in valleys so I would draw them into a better ambush location.
I've never played the original STALKER games, but I have played all of the Metro games, and they quickly became some of my all-time favorite single-player FPS experiences, especially Metro Exodus. So, I'm definitely wishlisting this game because it looks incredible, and I've been waiting for a new experience like this for a while.
Actually metro was founded by ex stalker devs from the first game, thats why atmosphere in both games are similar even tho games are very different from each other.
stalker is better than metro if you appreciate more open world and it is more creepy and eerie...Also plays more like an rpg. I think it is definitely worth playing the stalker games and I highly doubt this game, while it looks good, will top the original stalker games that had a rarefied atmosphere all its own....never replicated.
The stalker acronym is not official and only fan made. There is no official statement. The reason there are dots between the letters in the title "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." is that it was supposed to not make it sound bland and make people think its an acronym ( which it never was in the first place)
@@Hazzard0229 You're misremembering. It's never explained in the actual book why they are called Stalkers, but the authors have said that they simply liked the word and the meaning fit the description of the stalkers in the book. They got the word from a Kipling book.
Jack, your videos are always so informative, natural and easy to watch. I just watched a preview from IGN and Gamespot and I learned more from yours than both of those combined.
Deadly anomalies, dangerous mutants, anarchists and bandits... None will stop Duty on its triumphant march towards saving the planet! The World fears The Zones expansion. Join Duty and save the innocent. Stalker, protect the world from The Zone. Join Duty.
Yep, also saw Rookie Village, and obviously the church in the swamps with next to it the this time enterable wine cellar and cemetery above it. Also the burned down village in the swamps. It's good to see all these old locations returning in a remastered look.
Hahah long time player of STALKER games. Having finished the main story of all three games. And then went on to plunder the crap out of COP several times. Then modded the heck out of all three for new experiences. I'm currently playing COP - Anamaly. Which is essentially all three games put together with a very much choose your own adventure thing. And here we are. HoC coming soon, and I'm very much looking forward to this. Course watching Jack here with this footage, and my old STALKER instincts are like, "Okay when's the Bloodsucker gonna pop out, these moments are far too tame."
yes guys, my advise as an experienced Stalker - learn to shoot in a head, especially mutants... Don't rush, explore, you will find a lot! Do side quests, they boost you and you progress naturally. On new location start with simplest side quests, when you're doing better - move to the main. Main is much more challenging. Try to enjoy the Zone, its nature and its anomal existence. That's quite an experience with such graphics. This winter for you will be unforgettable😉
When I went into the Exclusion Zone, my friend brought along some cans of food like the ones in the game and I can actually say that the combination of canned turkey, canned beans, and a few pieces of bread were absolutely delicious and one of my favorite parts of having hiked in
@@JaredWeiler Dude! In preparation of the original game release I spend most of my free time reading game magazines about the game, looking at illustrations till I made a hole in a page. 😂
It's surreal seeing this finally coming out. It's been so long. I remember my cousin and I playing this game at his house on his PC (his was better than mine) and it was so memorable.
When you wonder how the devs nailed the realistic post-apocalyptic atmosphere and design...then remember what Ukraine is enduring right now and realize they've had plenty of first hand references.
wow it’s like a reskin of the maps of the first game but bigger and better, it’s amazing to see the zone like this, holy f. cannot wait for the hardcore mods that’ll be made.
OPTION 1. Realease the game, Release the source code (with limitation where the players need to still buy the game). OPTION 2. Hire the G.A.M.M.A team for a full blown player driven modding community.
the UI for picking up weapons and items looks so bad. Everything is so large and in your face. Also the yellow paint on breakable items is super cheesy. I hope this isnt final. it almost looks like a farcry game just walking around. I was hoping for slightly more of a milsim look
Oh just you wait me boi.. remember the modding community is the reason why stalker is still relevant to this day.. now imagine what they can do with the new game!
I’m so excited. I was EXTREMELY late to the Stalker party though. I play a VR game called Into the Radius and a lot of people say it’s basically a VR Stalker so I checked out Stalker and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've been a lover of this series since I was a kid. I used to watch my dad play games and he was playing Call of Pripyat one time and I fell in love with the atmosphere and the scenery. I enjoy playing the fanmade Anomaly mod for the freeform aspect as well as being able to access the entire zone. I love getting lost in immersive games like this and how tactically rewarding the game is.
I have been waiting for this game for a very long time. I hope and pray it doesn't take the "nose dive" like most anticipated triple-A games have done.
I remember I always played the first parts in the fall, it was raining outside, everything was dirty and grey, I had to run to class and I was sitting there playing this depressing masterpiece, I didn’t want to quit but I was running to school, and all day I was thinking about how I would come and continue my next foray into adventure, thanks to this game for my childhood - great memories )
I really hope they show some more clips of the weather. I feel like they really nailed the clouds and skybox. I just need to see some rain and storms. And that damn tornado
Really happy about the full mod support. The foundation of the game looks great, and a huge upgrade. And knowing that if you have any gripes with the game it could likely be modded out is nice as well. Especially for the ultra hardcore lot ;-)
I'm super excited for this! But I hope the mutants are scary as in other stalker games. Because the controller in the gameplay video was disappointing... not scary at all compared to stalker anomaly.. and also the eating animation looked like it sucked..
i really want this to be good, even if its quirky like the originals. they were so immersive and unsettling. Tushonka in a can is usually salted pork with abit of gello because of gelatin from the meat cooking process.
I been waiting on this game to come out for awhile so glad it will be coming out in november. Was ready for this game also Delta force extraction mode which looks so good and now i think black ops 6 will be good. Ready for this game and delta force for sure. Hope you get to feeling better Jack sound a little under the weather drink some whiskey with honey. But thanks for keeping us informed as always on new games woukd like to see you play this maybe early access?
