I'll give it a try. I still like Conan Exiles, I just wish Funcom would focus on the things that the players want instead of breaking combat and adding features that don't work unless modders fix them.
Update: Single player private servers now enabled. So you can settle anywhere now without the frustration of other players shutting you out of locations. Also the fog of war is a part of the story, follow the Guide quests and you will be able to unlock more features (hint word: scout), also an alarm awareness system for predators & prey etc. It's all about the magical mask pushing your "advancement" as a human. You want to unlock the thrall stuff in the mask menu, it's helpful to have a tribe to help with fighting and doing tasks around the home. This game is seriously addictive, despite its obvious flaws. SP also doesn't appear to have a timer, and your bonfire will pause when you are offline. Might be worth a re-look. ;)
With all these new open world survival games coming out now I really hope it shakes up the Conan Exiles crowd with competition. Once we see companions working together, I wonder if Exiles thralls will be considered archaic...
It will be an MMO in the way Conan is. You should be able to play single player, or with friends on release. For now it's server only. One to try or keep an eye on 👍
I used to love Conan Exiles until they slowed the gameplay down, nerfed how stamina/dodging worked. Made enemies quite a bit harder.... and the crafting tables, the ridiculous number of crafting tables, they almost have a crafting table for everything now instead of having crafting tables that did many things.. I miss Conan Exiles when the game was simpler, faster pace and genuinely more fun to actually play. I miss when being a spear light armor build was a genuine strategy in PVP as well, being a glass cannon so to speak, but one good hit from a great sword would ruin your day as your legs would get crippled/HP mostly gone. But I guess people couldn't handle fast players. When they made it slower paced, with tankier enemies, and grindy crafting which requires larger bases game just got all the fun sucked out of it. I'm sure they did it for balancing reasons but if it's at the cost of fun F*** balance.
Good review, looks like a everything not better than Conan but maybe the world to play in might be the only thing better. Conan took the lazy route when they focus more on PVP, this is how it ends because PVP means just leave it to the players, we don't need to do much for PVE, they'll just play with each other and keep complaining about each other while buying DLCs. 😑
Definitely not the next Conan Exiles or replacement. Although in demo firm right now, the game initially looked very good. The large amounts of non intuitive menus and lack of any initial tutorial leaves a player lost and quickly frustrated. In order to progress further later in game you will need to forego your character and body snatch NPCs to further in game. A game mechanic which is very undesirable for most players so far. The game has potential but a long road ahead.
Correction: for now this gem is single-player; I prefer to play it when the multiplayer is released. I was hoping to find something different from Conan, my interest in that game has dwindled after the introduction of the cash shop and their overpriced visuals and the FOMO model.
This game gonna need ton of work before it could be the next conan exiles... lol Visually it looks very good, tech tree looking interesting, building looks very basic atm, and the movement and fighting are awful. lol I guess will check on the game in a year or so. ^^
Please play this in single player mode, before giving a review. the servers are just testing servers right now, and are very bad on performance, I had none of the issues you experienced, while playing in single player.
I did play it in single player after this. And I played on a content creator server prior to this. I didn't have any issues with performance on servers. There were just other people. Thanks for watching
the controls are too alienating to me, I find holding click to unlock a skill a stupid idea, and was extremmely laggy to me, nothing like the smooth experience you had on ur stream. I understand the lag is subject to change, but the controls are still something that turned me off
It is a very busy time for survival. Not sure when this is out though. 2024 at some point is all we know. There'll be lots of games bringing demos out for Steam Next Fest. Thanks for watching 🙌
These walking animations are horrible, I wouldn't want to play it like that. Once the developer presents it in such a state, it doesn't change later. I'm too spoiled by Funcom.
Unfuncom has turned conan into a boring grind fest that I've grown tired of quickly. Exiled lands are ugly and unimpressive, combat has become a slow slog of tedium, resource gathering is super uninspired,thralls are kind shit now....miss anything? Oh yea the dungeons are lame and repetitive.
