We're arguably in the middle of the Singularity. In college, my professors often stole exam points from me because they failed to understand the material at a deep level. The teacher is behind the student. Then the exam software stole even more points away due to bugs in the exam system. Digital exams often arbitrarily ban the students from revisiting previous questions to double check their answers before submission. Everything is broken and technology is making things worse.
The single technology that will expand quantum computer is really inexpensive superconducting materials that function at the temperature of liquid nitrogen.
37:50 What you are describing is an addictive drug. Like we don't have enough social challenges already. This is tech used to divide us further, making us more easily manipulated through our emotional instabilities. As with any powerful mood altering drugs, these artificial personalities need strictly controlled.
The movie did contain cannibalism ! Dead bodies were the source of proteins for the soylent green tablets... It's THE plot's twist at the end of the movie.
@@xavierdumontperso yes, I know the *movie* contained cannibalism. The *book* , which is what the drink Dr. Baines mentioned is named after and what I was talking about, does *not* contain cannibalism. The movie added that.
I always listen up when Dr Baines speaks.....a great talk, thank you. Futurists don't live in the real world...they long for a so-called 'better' world to their own liking. So, what do we do when some very seductive, impatient, well=funded and megalomaniacal Futurists go on the offence?....well, the entrenched Traditionalists dig in and go on the defense to protect what they hold dear for the love of them,......while those who just live in the 'Now' are utterly bamboozled, and totally oblivious as to what is going on around them, and totally ignorant of what is actually at stake, and thus they inevitably get captured, displaced or even destroyed during the conflict.
@@PazLeBon hee!....it can certainly seem that way at times. I'm all for people setting out and planning for their own personal 'better' futures, but not at the expense of denying others of the ability to author theirs. 😁
