I loved the John Scott All Star game. I voted for him and don’t regret it at all. One of the most memorable ASG’s.

look at the man smile at that ASG... he 100% deserved the love and i'm so happy for him that he got to experience that high before the end of his career.

I love that, Scott and Kaner "dropping the gloves" when they were both smiling ear to ear.

Had more fun watching scott in that 3on3 than I have watching any other ASG.

I was a goalie. Went to a random summer drop-in game - I was 16 or 17 years old. For some reason, John Scott was there. He took one shot, a simple wrister from the top of the circle and hit me on the inside of my arm, underneath the pad. It was the single hardest shot I had ever faced (left a major bruise on my arm) and it was a throwaway shot from him. He was a great guy the entire game and took a picture with me afterwards. He was a great guy to be around - it was around the time described in this video.

Being only +/- -19 career is kinda impressive for a enforcer.

After thr All Star game, John's NHL career amounted to a single game for Montreal with 9:01 of ice time, and 2 minutes in the penalty box. What the NHL failed to understand is that John Scott on that moment represented the fans in a why that a guy like Conor McDavid never can. He was a guy that wasn't fortunate enough to be born with generational talent. He was a guy who had to fight for every minute he could get. And so, he was a proxy for the dreams of the common fan. The dream of regular perosn having a chance to lace up the skates with the best and simply have fun with the best in the world and feel like you are accepted. I'm very glad for him, and also for the superstars who got a reminder of how special it is to play at that level.

The NHL is missing out on a big opportunity with not having a "John Scott" spot in the All-star game.

Left out that he wasn't an option for MVP voting but write ins gave it to him anyway! Crazy story

Much like another video pointed out, even the worst player in the NHL is orders of magnitude more skilled than the average beer leaguer. Best ASG in history, it had heroes, villains, laughter, tears. Just beautiful

Hockey fans gave him the best moment of his playing career. You can totally tell by his face how happy he was that weekend. Such a great story!

I remember that like it was yesterady. It was the only All-Star game competition and game I had watched since the mid-2000s, and remains the last I'll probably ever watch. Scott totally stole the show. And the fans in the building were cheering for Scott the entire night. What the league tried to do is just an example of how old and out of touch they are with the fans.

This was by far my most favorite NHL moment of all time. Like the community, the players, everyone went up against the League and owners.

I think Scott was the happiest player we have ever seen and probably will ever see at an all-star game.

This was one of my favourite hockey moments ever. That was pure love of the game you could see from him. Glad the NHL didn’t screw him on the end. Would love to see John go on to announce for the Allstar game.

Of all the All-Star games I've seen, this one remains the best one. I don't know if it's because how great it was to see Johnny Scott out there, the fact that it was the first All-Star game with the 3-on-3, or both, but whatever it was, this is the BEST All-Star game I've witnessed.

The articles said he was exiled to St John's. But they didn't mention the instant love he got here. He was instantly embraced as "ours" an underdog that got everyone on the island cheering and rooting for him

Years and years from now when there is some exposé on the NHL was like during 2010 - 2020 and they interview a bunch of elite players from that time. I bet they will mention the 2016 all Star game as their favorite one they ever played in.

The more interesting story is the Rory Fitzpatrick All Star voting, IMO. That was a sustained push-back against the voting system immediately after it came in and it almost worked in getting a 7-8 d-man into the All Star game in 07 (a lot speculate it did work and the NHL pushed him out lol)

The ASG is supposed to be for the fans, and it's crazy that the league tried so hard to not give fans what they wanted. John Scott' presence that weekend is the single greatest all-star moment of all-time and I can't be convinced otherwise

How can you not smile watching him in that game

This was the last time the All-Star game was worth watching.

I remember not knowing who he was but voting for him that year. Stopped my vacation to watch that all star game and it's the most I've ever been in love with hockey. Such a special weekend, everything about it was so pure and so incredible to watch unfold.

What a moment. Amazing I remember watching it on TV.

My high school did this for our Homecoming Queen when I was a senior. She was def not easy on the eyes but was the most involved in activities and generally liked by most if not all of the class of about 500. She was nominated by getting top 4 in an open vote with no coordination. Teachers actually told us it was mean to nominate her, but she ran with it and won the crown. Fun fact: one of the others nominated was later convicted of fraud related to her position in the government.

The best all star weekend I watched. The NHL needs to go back to this if they want the viewership…

I'm rather part of the younger folks watching this and also from Germany so I've never heard of this story before, but I gotta say, these scenes and their smiles on their faces is one of the most wholesome things I've ever seen in hockey
