Great video. Think the best solution for daf issues is to get a scania!! I farted once in a CF and had to change the emission control unit and adblue system.
Another cracker, keep it up. After your article on alternators last week, I pin pointed a CF problem in minutes ( cracked 23A fuse not blown which was going open circuit when warmed up in power distribution box) keep it up mate 👍
Hey Lee thanks for the comment, sorry I'm late getting back to you....so much to do! I'm SO HAPPY something I uploaded helped you out! Amazing how a fuse can crack isn't it! Hopefully alot More to come this year from me 😎👌
hi bud great video had the same prodlem on the volvo's EAC systems what we found was condensation use to build up on the pressure regulators and drip onto the pcb
Thanks for the comment, you would think components would generate heat and condensation like you say... DAF seem to think it's more of a service issue which I've covered in a post in more detail on my premium member area on www.trucktechuk.com
I have had that issues caused by faulty air dryer cartridge. Water is passing through the cartridge and if temperatures are below zero degrees it will freeze and destroy pressure sensors. It's easy to check because then output from the sensors will be 5 volts. If PCB is not corroded replacing that pressure sensors will fix it.
Hey, thank you for the comment. 👌 Makes you wonder how water passes through a cartridge to the pressure sensors? Lack of servicing? Not checking air tanks after compressor head gasket failures?? Unfortunately, Daf doesn't sell the pressure sensors separately, unlike what you can buy from knorr bremse. You must have been lucky not to get a corroded PCB 😎
@@TRUCKTECHUK I have heard that some part of non OEM cartridges produced by big and well known company was faulty... Of course non draining water from air tanks and compressor gasket leaks is another problem that occurs. PCB will not corrode if You act quickly :) It's a pity that DAF is not selling this sensors. I have bought mine from turkish company and they are working well.
Everything is faulty these days 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤯. I don't seem to get vehicles that haven't had faults on them for months! Always seem to be brought in on de-rate or recovered 😱 I wish Daf would more fixing of things and less replacing, I'd love to do more micro-electronics, but it's all 12 months parts and labour warranty, then send the old unit back to be remanufactured 😮💨
@@TRUCKTECHUKThis is a miracle of progress. Just wait for the new Euro 7 trucks. It will be fun. I can guarantee!. I mostly fix older trucks so there is no warranty at all. Repairing electronics by myself saves me a lot of time and money.
@@TRUCKTECHUK i m mechanic too and is new for me because i have worked only Mercedes and i have switched to DAF house, from your videos i have learn a lot and i must Thank You for that, you have my Respect and God bless you! sorry for my English Respect from Romania 🇷🇴
Ah, I do a bit with mercedes but i never upload it as no one watches it 😅 so I stick to DAF. I'm sure you will be amazing in no time on DAF I'm happy that you learn alot from the videos 😎👌
This is comming really commom in trippers and grabs . As the sac hangs so low and they go threw wheel wash and deep muddy puddle in the tips it siaks the sac. Also the loop of the loom to guides water in to the plug too.
Hey Ben thanks for the comment 😎. It's a weekly occurrence for me to change them, best one I had is a factor that supplied the wrong SAC to the owner who fitted it and it was doing all sorts of crazy shit to the CAN 😬🫣
A preventative measure would be to take off the PCB and coat it with 1B31 Humiseal (Excl sensors) - used in Military Electronics. But I guess DAF wouldn't sell as many new systems without that failure. £30 can of Humi will do about 10-15 PCBs.
Hey thanks for the comment. 👍 On newer vehicles it will be the DSRC interface (Dedicated Short Range Communication) this module is for the Smart Tachographs to remotely communicate with enforcement authorities in the UK and Europe as the truck passes and they can download your driving data to ensure you have complied with drivers hours ect. Basically they don't have to stop you any more to check your card.
Hi, how are you? I take it you have had an air leak at some point? Your saturation level has been exceeded on your SAC. replace the drier cartridge and reset the saturation level. This will solve your issue
Hi friend, I have a question for you if you want to help me. Can I program a SAC unit on the knorr-bremse?, it is not the original one. I try to make the connection, but it "does not communicate with the control unit" when I mount it.
Thanks for the comment beny. It the computer will communicate with that specific SAC ECU you can program it. But for certain ECUS it won't.....which seems to be your problem here. You could swap the EPROM or read and write directly from the board possibly? If I ever get time to do that I will do a video
Thanks for this information, it would help me a lot if you could make a video about this problem, not only me but also others I think. Thank you very much and good luck in your work!
Hi bro Great work bro. I have the same problem with a daf euro 5 cf85 the problem is it cranks but not running so I diagnose it but while doing that I'm not getting any communication with the ECU with my JALTEST only the rest of unit is communicate. So I check the wiring from cabin box to engine ECU and all is ok so is the ECU bad .because I'm getting 5 volt on air pressure sensor and diesel thempeture pressure sensor But lon the display I'm getting ENGINE WARNING I'm RED and CONFIGURATION in RED ..
If your not getting any communication I'd try swapping a ECU and seeing if that works, even if it's the wrong one it should tell you that but I'd be double checking all your power before and after contact, ground and can wiring to the ECU Frist though!
@@TRUCKTECHUK I did check it bro on pin B60 B61 B62 is power because I get 5 volts on the air pressure sensor and 5 volts on the diesel temperature pressure sensor so the ECU is turning on and it's cranking
Didn't they let you take an apprentice with you ???? Sac units must be coming up to 9years old ,and i don't think i've ever changed one ..lol Got a nightmare job just now ,a simple cam but it also had a vtg code ..VTG easy seized turbo ,as its a 530 no QT required,..cam follower stuck ,so head of to knock it out and reamer the bore, send head away for testing failed ,new head required, then an inlet follower was sticking in it's bore ,so clean that up not forgetting 2 damaged exhaust rockers ,1 had sheared a bolt that hold the tin plate on and then that broke ,it is fighting me every inch of the way..I ended up going to warranty because it was getting ridiculous cost wise ,but they are happy
Hey norb 👋 no but I've found some more to tip the cabs for me 😂😂😂😂👌. They introduced them 2014 I think 🤔, but your not missing much lol sounds like your having fun! How far do you think this one will go before you see it for a engine🙈. Last one I did ran into the back of another truck a week later 😳 Divine intervention I reckon 😅
А я думал что только на volvo 4 серии такие проблемы с осушителями. Дохнут пачками. Подозреваю что производит это дерьмо тоже knorr, плата очень похожа
Hiya mate, once again a top vid, I have a question, I apologise in advance, as its on a different subject, on several dafs (LF) we have an active code "particulate filter status lamp, o/c or s/c to battery +, this does not appear to give a problem to the operation of the truck, and doesn't put a warning on the dash, any ideas what causes this,?
Hi Alan thanks for the comment. Once apon a time DAF supplied LF'S with the ability to inhibit REGENERATION on the dpf, this caused blocked dpf's power reduction...you get the picture. DAF had a recall and the switches were changed from a 3 position switch to the type you have now which are 2 position. The fault you see on your vehicles are due to the deleted connection which is no longer used in the switch plug hence the open or short cuircit on that pin to the ECU.
This is very interesting, my boss buys trucks from auctions, imagine my work load, if I had hair I'd pull it out 🤣, we have on going, incorrect Adblue, cat not recognised, and numerous other issues, I have never been so frustrated, could this all be down to the recall not being done?
Hi thanks for the comment! Due to the large number of messages and enquirys I have now, I have a form people can use for different means of contacting me. this can be found on my website trucktechuk.com/contact
Helou Helou I have the same problem on XF 106, 65.5bar on pressure sensor 1 without changing pressure after start. Must i need to program new unit SAC after replacing ? Can u send me parts number from unit and valve block, my VIN: XLRASH4300G063327, thanks A LOT
