I looooove this scene~ the song is the world at large by modest mouse. :) "Are you ok?" "Of course. We have bagels." the clip is by: www.marissa-cooper.com thanks for that!
Excellent scene, i always loved how the cohen house was a safe haven from the drama. Like no matter how bad things are its a great place to get your feet back on the ground.
The music in the OC is amazing, their music director or whoever chooses the songs for the scenes did an unbelievable job and I love that the bands that play in the bate shop were real up and coming bands.
One way I connected with them in S1 and 2 is that interestingly my mom and Kirsten literally had the same job in real-estate development and my dad wasn’t a defense attorney, but he was a cop and made less. That said, it never made a difference in their marriage and they put us first even though they had careers. Most women in upper class neighborhoods would be stay at home moms, expecting the husband to be the bread winner.
This scene always made me feel sad and happy at the same time...the perfect song..after the dramatic events, with the the perfect comfort food...and the Cohens cheering Marissa up. This makes me always want a bagel..with cream cheese. and i dont even like cream cheese
One day I told someone i wanted to be a psychologist to help people. He asked me if i had done any social work which i said no to. Then he told me "a tree can provide fruits and shelter only if it is strong and capable first, so you must be good first and then only u can make others good." Jesus that was so deep I just paused in awe. Sandy and Kirsten are those trees. Look at the last scene when it zooms out on all of them. The kids are all drawn to them who are (strong and capable) for fruits and shelter. WOW!
We get them but they are not available in supermarkets. You need to go to special bakery's. I got Einstein Brothers Bagels from Costco. One bag was plain they other was blueberry. We are big on Crumpets and English muffins for breakfast.
Without any doubt this was and still is the best teen drama ever made. The soundtrack was simply perfect... ❤️ I've watched plenty of teen dramas and none of them can be compared to the oc in my opinion, except for One tree hill maybe (haven't finished this one yet but i'm loving it)
This is such a sweet scene. They were like a family... I miss Marissa :'( Her and Ryan were perfect together. I can't even bring myself to finish season 4, it's just heartbreaking without her.
well tippycat and sladesgirl maybe if you actually understood the meaning of this whole scene you wouldn't be dissing it. god if you really have nothing nice to say just don't say anything at all. zmaus, thank you for posting this! i love absolutely love it! it's the most r/m you really see until mid season 2, but i still love it!
for all the people talking about toasting...if you've ever had any bagel worth trying (i.e from NYC or NJ) then you'd understand the reason for not toasting. plus, Sandy is probably a purist about his bagels being that he's a Jew from NY, thus the no toasting.
Ronnicus oh you can toast 'em. they're just so much better untoasted. they say it has to do with the water and how it interacts with the yeast, but what it boils down to is this: baking is a science--even the slightest change in ingredients or procedure and you have a wildly different outcome. Something about the process up there leaves bagels glossy and caramelized on the outside (with just enough "toughness"), yet soft, fluffy and chewy on the inside. Most places just mistakenly make em chewy through and through (I'm looking at you Einstein's--blech). Peace y'all.
coming froma person who replies 4 months later haha! I bet you were actually one of the likers of this built up blocks of stupidity they called a show. its just a another dumb soap, there is proof, they are replaying all the eps on the soap network. god like one time I was waiting for another show to come on but they played the O.C. instead and I watched it and I'd never laughed so hard!
wtf are you talking about?? teenager language?? and by the way get the joke, my sister was saying she didn't know how to eat cause it was so stupid he was showing her how to put cream cheese on a bagel. I don't think I need to say anything else. It was just a REALLY dumb show ok?
