Americans largely disagree as usual. But indeed if the US team does not jell and transition to Fiba correctly on top of having some injury prone players, one of these country, on a very good day, may have a shot. We're all holding on to this hope that the stars aligned ^^ US is stacked with superstars, can they collectively be consistantly good on defense and offense ? We'll see ^^

Yeah, it's stacked, with all-stars playing for the USA. Did you see them demolish Canada, a team which has played together for a while. Team USA will destroy everyone in their path. I can see how it could be harder for say, a guy from France playing in the US and being out of their element so to speak, even if their talent level is really good it may not translate as well. Also I think there are some amazing basketball players throughout the world on this Olympic stage that just simply don’t “fit” what the NBA is looking for in a player but in their own way are just as talented.

If they double-team Wemby, he and Gobert will cook them with their high-low offense. USA has no answer to this.

Wemby can easily pass over any number of American players, the tallest on our team being five inches shorter, to the open man, or he can just shoot and there is nothing they can do. And then there is Gobert, and if AD is on Wemby then…I guess Embiid on Gobert but again Gobert has size on Embiid and Wemby can get the ball to Gobert if he wants too. The French team is kryptonite for Steve Kerr’s bag of tricks. Small ball doesn’t work against huge mobile bigs who are allowed to camp in the paint. And we don’t have the bigs big enough to handle Wemby and Gobert. Wemby with reach and speed can start in the paint and contest the corner three if the ball goes there, and he and Gobert can reach the guys like KD and Booker who like the long twos also. But like the man said in the video, having those guys patrolling the paint means the perimeter defenders can be right up in your face too, go ahead and drive past them and see what it gets you. This French team is super nasty, they are going to be destroying opponents.

@@Shlongclock he lived in USA since he was 15/16 years old, he's more American than French, where he never lived.. Cameroun is his origines, but not his mentality and way of life.

Honestly, it is all about Wemby and Gobert and the lack of a three second lane rule for the Olympics. Turkey shot 4.2% in the paint. Not 42%, 4.2%. Germany is a top European team, and if Wemby and Gobert had played thirty five minutes Germany would have had under fifty points. The US team has a lot of talent, much of it well beyond their primes. But they will have to win shooting contested three and long twos, because they are not getting much in the way of dunks and layups, and that is an awfully hard way to win at basketball. France takes this one, and it will not be too close either.

I thought the same, but look: first 2 games with wemby (friendlies) both were won by around 50pts, then one game without wemby, they lost to the same team they destroyed before

They...drive and Wemby recovers to meet them at the rim, or if they pull up for a long two..they jack up a long three, they drive and stop and try to pop at the three point line and are contested, they throw it to the corner and have a contested three there...

That is underestimating the european style of play which is not based on a unique player's ability for shot creation but is based on moving the ball to find an open shot.

Ball movement doesn’t matter if there is no ability to penetrate the defense.
