Jaxon grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church) and had many wonderful experiences in the church growing up. However, it wasn't until a severe accident occurred that Jaxon began searching for forgiveness, not knowing if he would make it out of his surgery. Thank you for being open with your struggles, especially about pornography. Being in Utah, it is so common yet taboo to talk about. This and depression kept me from serving a mission and spiritual progression. But that is not the end. I know that God puts us in these situations where we have the potential to fail. He doesn't want us to fail, but to struggle. It is through the struggle that we grow and draw nearer to Him. This applies to many aspects of life: physical, mental, and spiritual shortcomings. Each time we struggle and take a step backward is just another chance to try again and witness God's grace in our lives. Thank you Brother for sharing!

@@kickstart3974 @Kickstart Yes, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as Mormons, we are Christians. We believe in God our Eternal Father, and His son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. Much of Christianity calls this the Trinity. We can differ from other Christian denominations as we believe in the personages of the Trinity but not the doctrine of the Trinity, as we believe these are separate beings.

@@kickstart3974 That is a great and personal question we must all ask. I believe that salvation is a gift from God that allows us to return back to Him, thus increasing our relationship with Him. The fact is, we are already given salvation through The Atonement of Jesus Christ. It is our responsibility to improve our relationship with him to further progress and improve in this life and the next.

This was really great! Spiritual witness comes to people in so many different ways. None is better than another but once you've had it , it is like Joseph Smith quote " I knew it and I knew that God knew it and I could not deny it." Also right Joseph was imperfect. True statement God uses imperfect people. I would like to remind everyone though he said he was like a rough stone rolling constantly having corners banged off until he would no longer be a rough stone. Meaning he was constantly improving. That's what's important we need to constantly be improving it's not so important we are perfect now only that we are seeking and striving and working at being better.

I'm already putting in my two cents because the kind of deception that is going to arise up in the last days is unlike anything you've ever seen before and people are going to need my help to stay on the path. I can only encourage others to stay on the path and continue to press forward. The Elect are going to get deceived if they are not consistent in living the basics. For gone are the days where you can get on and off the gospel path when you want to. Now you have to stay close to the Spirit in order to survive for the deceptions are getting more sophisticated the lures of the world are getting more stronger..... Luke Chapter 22 tells about the burning in the bosom from the Holy Ghost to receive Revelation from heaven above. It is not confirmation bias.

@@kickstart3974 that's a great question. So it's answer is perhaps a little complicated. I find different Christians have different definitions on what it means to be Christian. One definition is someone that believes in the divinity of Christ and that Christ is our Savior eternally. With this definition we are Christian but not all Christians are "Mormon" which is just a nickname our Prophet has recently advised us Christ would like us to refer to ourselves as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But not all Christians are of our faith. We are one sect of Christianity and we do believe we are the one with the fullness of Christ's gospel. Some have a different definition of Christian in which one would have to believe in the Trinity and some of the creeds made from the early Catholic Church and if you used this definition then we would not fit into that category as we don't believe the creeds such as the Niacean Creed to be correct. We also believe in the doctrine of a Godhead vs. The Trinity. Whatever definition someone uses for Christian I will insist as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I believe in Jesus Christ with all my heart as my personal Savior.

@@kickstart3974 if your definition of being saved is being raised from the dead with a perfect body then honestly Jesus has already guaranteed us that without any action on our part. If we want a fullness of joy after this life and to live with our Heavenly Father then no there's quite a lot more to it. This life is a test and if we follow God's commandments we pass if we don't then we will have dwell in a place separate from our Heavenly Father and receive a portion of glory for which are worthy for. That said Heavenly Father wants all of us to return with Him and so Jesus agreed to pay the price of sin and provide us the opportunity to repent and receive forgiveness for our sins. If we repent then our sins are not remembered in eternity and we qualify for God's greatest blessings.

Is it sinful to think about sexual acts or be tempted without actually doing it?

yes. (Though Im not trying to be harsh to anyone). Jesus said if anyone looks upon a woman with lustful thoughts, has committed adultery). So what does this mean? Well, God understanding that our thoughts and feelings can become our actions, wants us to clean up 'focus' on good things. If you learn to have self discipline on earth, you'll have a better chance in the new world. He's not pointing this out as a punishment, but encourages us to think positive. Sexual thoughts aren't wrong to have, but dwelling on them can lead to actions that aren't helpful to your long-term growth. Good luck on your journey.

There is a difference between having a sexual thought and indulging in one. We live in a fallen world and we have imperfect minds and bodies. We are subject to temptation, but we are not bound to it. I personally believe that a thought that is sexually immoral in nature becomes sinful when we choose to indulge and dwell on that thought. Indulging in these thoughts is what often leads us to committing graver sins. Keep in mind that Jesus was tempted, though he never ceded to sin. Through His infinite Atonement and grace, we can be cleansed and sanctified each and everyday as we try and become more like Him. Hope this helps

Sexuality is natural. If you are not indoctrinated to think that feelings are bad, you wouldn't have any negative emotions around natural sexual behaviors.

This is all very touching, however it is not how you come to God, or get to a knowledge of God. There is an objective truth it is the final & infallible word of God, the bible!! Not a burning in the bosom, not a liver shiver. Ever hear of DNA? It irrefutably proves the book of Mormon to be nothing short of a complete fairy tale. Despite you're emotional experience. Truth is truth & reality is reality
