For what it's worth, I am 41 years LEO/ retired, now armed citizen. I carried a G22 with a S&W 38spc backup. I've owned about every other handgun except Wilson Combat (can't afford it) . For some odd reason I always go back to GLOCKS, they just work for me without all the bells and whistles available today. I was carrying a G23/3 with a G27/3 backup until I bought another G23/3. Out and about I carry twin SOB with a double G22 15 rnd mag carrier. If I plan on driving a lot I simply switch to double appendix. I can't say I'm the guy who never drew his weapon, I can say I did and survived. I see all the tricked out handguns you young people carry, kinda reminds me of Star Wars with all the stuff on them. Back in the day we called them unlimited class race guns, amazing. Mine are 100% factory except for the night sights. Simply put I have confidence in them, and with me operating them for decades. I've been hearing about SHTF , I pray it NEVER HAPPENS put as clearly as I can get all the range time you can, it's no fun at all when those steel targets start shooting back.

One of the most informative podcast I have ever heard. I hope many people should take in consideration all that was spoken on. At the end of the day familiarity is the most important point with the side arm one carries. The sidearm that one carries every day should be the one he or she is most proficient with and that takes time and a conscious effort to do this. Again, really liked this podcast.

I know this seems obvious, but if you can fit a G17 or full frame, carry that. Not because of ballistics or velocity or whatever, it's just a matter of it fitting you better. I carried a 19 for years because that was what everybody said was the thing. My pinky didn't fit, it fucked up my grip and presentation, etc. I tried a 17 and realized that it really is a 19 for bigger guys. I'm a fairly strong built 6'2" 250lbs, and i didn't take that into account for a long time. I can carry the 17 with zero extra downside, and a ton of actual shooting upsides. Basically, try different stuff, and see what works for you. If you're smaller, try smaller, if you're bigger, try bigger. It has helped every aspect of my shooting.

I refuse to adapt my wardrobe to my carry (idc what anyone thinks). My carry will adapt to my fit, not the other way around. I'm vain about what I wear, and I need to look good too. My vp9 is my favorite. My m&p shield is my everyday carry though. I also use a thin pocket holster as it’s grippy enough to stuff between the shorts/pants and to draw it stays where I place it, either appendix or rear hip. Shield has safety so one in the chamber is ok with the holster. Biggest thing is using Mantisx. Practice your weapons dry firing if you do not go shoot live rounds. Recoil is your only con for laser training. Can’t complain about not getting practice in. If you can afford any gun, you can afford laser training.

I would recommend people drop the money to go to a top notch pistol course taught by people who have "been there, done that". This will allow you to get the basics of using a pistol in a stressful situation. They will teach you how to draw the pistol and how to efficiently reload the pistol. You dont need to always go to the range to practice with your pistol, there are numerous dry fire systems you can use in your house or yard. Shooting while moving is much different than standing on an indoor range punching holes in paper, weapon articulation is very important as well. Foot work, how you stand and so on. For me, this video says more about people needing to train with what they have rather than what gun to buy. Go watch a competition match near you, you can pick up the tips from good shooters for free. Great video.

Stopping the video at 2:20 to comment about those who initially intend to own only what they need for their imagined scenario. You are correct, when you say after a certain point it's just collecting guns. I started with one gun and through the years bought and sold many. I told myself that I'd only be a utilitarian gun owner, so I bought and built guns based around a purpose. Now, I'm at the point where I have to stop myself -- and it's very difficult -- from even looking at other guns online or at the local shop because I have what I need. The primary reason is, with any new gun new magazines and other accessories seem to be a necessity. That diverts my attention and money from buying ammunition and upgrades for the guns I already possess. I wonder if those who own two safes and two walls full of guns actually have more than three magazines for each gun.

Im issued a bone stock G17 for work so my off duty EDC is within the Glock family (G19 or G43X) bone stock triggers because I want everything consistent. I like Sigs, I like FN, I like all kinds of handguns and yes some have better ergos than the Glock, some have better triggers out of the box, but after thousands of rounds through Glocks it's what I know and what's comfortable for me. Don't fear the man with a lot of guns. Fear the man with just one gun.

I absolutely agree with your base premise: be intentional with your pistol choice and setup. What I would like to point out is that it’s not practical to have 1 pistol for all of life and dress codes. I shoot my Glock 19 best and love it but I don’t conceal it well in my suits and business casual attire. I have a micro compact for those occasions in which my attire needs to be more formal (which is pretty frequent for my line of work). What this means is I need to train that second setup to get my proficiency at that same standard as my Glock. Good food for thought in this video! I will now go get the same red dot on both and same light for consistency sake

Your last segment of the video is spot on. Everything I have on my H&K VP9L (for home defense) is there for a reason. Before I added the red dot and light/strobe I became proficient with shooting the firearm accurately and getting down my fine Motor skills and hand eye coordination with how the gun operates. Once I added the red dot, I took it to the range to improve my skill with the sight, then I added the light/strobe and did the same thing with that so now I have the confidence to use this handgun for self defense if I ever needed to. Just got my CCW permit and I purchased the new Canik Mete MC9 and I can’t wait to take it to the range to learn and start developing my skill with this firearm. not sure if I’ll upgrade anything on it yet or add any attachments. If anything I might add a light but first I need to practice with how it functions/recoil control etc etc. Only upgrade for what you need for your situation.

Want to add it is completely possible to both collect and be intentional and serious. I own several pistols- a couple of 1911s, a couple of tiny guns, a couple of revolvers, a Glock… whatever. I take them to the range and have a great time. I carry a 365 most if the time. (Glock 45 when I carry something else) I train with the 365, I practice dry with the 365. The intent is different. Recently I’ve decided it’s probably time to get a 365 xl or x macro to have something closer to a full size gun on the same platform. But I’ll likely buy a 2011 first- and that will be for the collector aspect and not the defensive aspect.

I just wanted to say this that from me watching the beginning of this video, even before watching it till the end the statements that you made, and the way you started the video from the beginning. It's like doing a thesis statement making a thesis statement should I say! You told the exact truth you should only carry the gun that you use the most and that you are more familiar with than changing up different guns each and every day. Every gun may shoot the same, but they do not respond the same even if you have thousands of them, but that one that you train with the most and need to train with the most is the one you should always carry because you never know when you may have to use that gun to protect yourself or your loved ones. Also, you want to make sure that you are very accurate with that gun and that you train with that weapon all the time. So, on that note, I have never seen any of your videos before I just came across this one today which is March the 18th 2023 you made damn good sense out of all the gun videos that I've seen on here you are the only one who made sense on a handgun. So now I am going to subscribe, hit the like button, and make sure I check get all notifications from you so I can see and enjoy more of your videos. It makes me sad that he didn't mention CZ or Beretta in the list of brands. I'm a CZ guy for sure, and it's annoying how many people haven't even heard of that brand. I knew about the CZ 75 from video games way before I bought my first CZ in real life. I just got a Czechmate a few weeks ago, and I have been kinda frustrated with how malfunction prone it is. I think I just need to get used to cleaning it and keeping it oiled. I got the CZ Custom optic mount and put my Deltapoint pro optic on it. I've been conceal carrying a CZ Shadow 2 for the past couple years. I started out using it at matches, and I liked it, so I started carrying it. I feel comfortable carrying it with the safety on and the hammer half cocked. That way I just sweep off the thumb safety and have nearly a full double action first shot, but it's drop safe with the hammer not fully down. My TS2 could fit in my S2 ccw holster, but I wouldn't carry it. The trigger is way too light, and I wouldn't carry a single action only gun any other way but cocked and locked.

I use the Vickers Tactical 8-shot mags without holes or slots, and Ed Brown's stainless 8-shot mags and have no complaints. I hope that the Sig M18 remains functionally perfect as earlier examples had issues, while my well-worn G19 Gen 3 works fine, as it had the heavy compression spring in the frame for greater reliability. @@TATargets I openly wonder if the M18 is that much better than the G19. Due to the heavier than standard spring operating in stretch instead of compression, this darn pistol will probably live forever, and with lower bite axis for slightly less muzzle flip. Add having it as a potential turn-in for a hopefully righteous shooting at very little expense, it's possibly the still best way to carry a sidearm. And I don't particularly like Glocks.

This advice also helps with non-American citizens who may have limited options for handgun models and ownership slots. For example a person with a basic license in my coutnry will my a 1911, then a G19, or a G17, then a 1911 because they want variety....then they upgrade their license to to the next level...nect thing you know they got a Glock, 1911, Taurus G3, PT-92 a mish mash. Smart buyers will prioritize their purchases to the most optimal level for their purpose. Ex. Full-sized Glock and Slimline pistol/snubnose....or they buy multiple firearms of the same feel, pattern, manual of arms (just like you said in this video).

Yeah, you are correct also again with the overcompensating with the ridiculous Attachment and out of the dagger and 365 that a lot of times I carry both on me. And then trained with both of them very well in my opinion. They have nothing ridiculous that did not come with them. Except for I just added and put. I don't know how many rounds through it. A new threaded barrel and Mini compensator on my 365. Just because it makes lighten a difference for the recoil control. Which I already have under control will allow me to fire a lot faster and effectively if needed. And I said in a previous comment that I do not prefer optics on my carry guns. Because it takes me a second. Because they are new to me. And I don't usually use them. So I do not carry them. When I carry the dagger I have multiple versions of them. I will not carry the one with all the ridiculous s*** like the red dot Laser tatchman's only thing is the new flashlight. I got from eBay made by Warrior land which is phenomenal. Call the crossbow, you can get a holster and that light for 89 bucks. I'm all about a deal and try and out random things. And I'm not gonna list hi and raillights. But I have a couple different companies for Glock. Rail lights that reigns from 200 to almost 400. And the price that I paid 8999 for this holster and rechargeable light is light. Is better in my opinion than a lot of them more higher and lights. Now I just got it so I don't know how long it's gonna last or how durable it is. But I know it is very easy to use. It's waterproof it has the magnetic charger, a digital display of the battery power. And also I haven't played with it or used it at the range. Just out and the yard comparing it to other lights a built-in green laser as well. You can use, but you are absolutely correct. The more s*** you put on your gun Amor something can go wrong or whatever. And before the only thing I added before the threaded barrel in the Mini comp. Was a Hoag Bieber tail grip cover for my 365 micro. But I have not been carrying the MC9 as much. And that's good because I have not trained with that. A lot, however. I am still getting used to the holster. That come with this light but I'm having no problem with it, but if I do have any. Type of problem. I do have a holster and a brand that I use forever gun that I buy. Because I prefer them. I believe they're called c. Y. I. And that's just what I prefer. And I've bought we the people. Other one called like a photon. Aliens, something not, don't remember. And blackhawks serve a belief. Serpica, I don't know I have about 6 holsters for the Glock 19/1722 23. Whatever They will Carrie i've never gotten to all the Steplan or modifications answer phone as trigger play Smith's status. Something else. I would not use on a carry gun because it did not come with the gun. And there's a good chance that because it was not installed by Glock. Or whatever company that it could have some type of failure. When you need it That 1 time, so my main go to is if it has a threated barrel, a Mini comp. On the little guns and the night site iron sites. That's what I'm most effective with trained with. And after the comp and the barrel swap. I made sure to put hundreds of rounds through it before I would carry that. Configuration even after buy in it. I would take that off. When I would take it out and about and put the OEM barrel back on and psychology bunch of rounds the snapcaps. Or whatever threw it to make sure everything's fine. On Duo call fire drills before I leave. But you're absolutely correct. I didn't think of it that way. There is a couple times thank God. Nothing happened that I would carry random guns and rotation. Add a couple of them mainly it's like for but 1 or 2 of them. I am not as flawless or fluid with or whatever the word is fluent or take straightly maxed out on handling and control. In the main thing is the holster. Draw and getting on target quick. But I've never took that in the consideration. That's crazy. I'm gonna train more with it until I carry that ever again unless I'm used in it with my main gun like your Glock 19. You have there. You're every day, go too. I would switch it with sig
