Self esteem has to do with how much you value yourself in your mind. Self-esteem is not a physical thing we can touch. It is a feeling/emotion we have about who we are as a person.
Things can happen in our lives that impact our value and self worth.
Sometimes having a low value of ourselves stems back from childhood where you grew up with parents who treated you awful and told you that you would never amount to anything in life. In that case, your self-esteem diminished and you eventually grew up not feeling worthy.
Or you were in an abusive relationship as an adult and your self-worth decreased throughout that relationship because your partner told you that you were ugly and you didn't deserve to be happy or feel loved, and therefore you weathered through that relationship feeling like you didn't deserve more than what you were getting.
So, when it comes to increasing your self-esteem, it's super important to be aware of the current decisions you make right now in this very moment, because sometimes the decisions we make stem back to the time where we didn't feel worthy or loved. It stems back from the time where our low self-esteem started.
That is why it's super important to know that in order to change your self-esteem, you need to change the value of yourself. You need to know that you are worthy of what you want, and you need to believe that you deserve better or more than what you're getting.
High self-esteem means someone who a high value of themselves, so this is someone who is confident, feels good about themselves, is able to set boundaries, and knows they deserve good things in this world.
So the ONE thing you can do right now is start re-programming your mind, and listen to things that are positive and motivating to you. Listen to things that help you feel good about yourself and help you feel confident and emotionally strong and happy. The more you listen to these positive self-talks, the more that the old story where your low self-esteem stemmed from will be pushed off to the side, and make room for more confidence and value and therefore higher self-esteem.
