I have been using fujifilm for about 2 years now, and i absolutely love them. I have an x100t, xe2, and xt2. And between those 3 cameras i've been able to take some of the best photos ive ever taken in my life. the x100t was the first fujifilm camera i first purchased after getting rid of my canon 6d. I thought i was done doing paid work so i wanted to get rid of the big bodies, and just use my camera for hobby purposes. But as soon i switched and bought the x100t, i had someone reach out to shoot a wedding. And i shot a full 8 hour wedding, with just the x100t, and that was honestly one of the best weddings ive ever shot. Since then, i purchased the xt2 for professional work, and i picked up the xe2 for my back up camera. So new gear is not always necessary. Limitations allow me to be more creative, and for me to really think of how a compose my shots. But these "old" cameras are more than capable of doing anything i need a camera to do.
I 💯 agree. I had this camera probably 5-6 years ago. Makes a great travel camera, but I remember it being a great daily camera as well. Having to get creative in framing your composition makes much better photos than reaching for the right lens. Used Classic Chrome 90% of the time and never got tired. I'm getting back into photography and just bought a used one again!
Not a lot of people talking about the T these days. It’s all about the V. I have the F and absolutely love it. Thanks for making a solid case that you don’t need the fancy new expensive gear to create great images. I’m going on a week long trip soon to Mexico City and plan to only bring my F with me.
I picked up an X100V a 10 months back, and the rest of my cameras spend a lot of time not being touched. ...that is, until I got X70 in February. I really am enjoying the small, pocketable Fuji cameras. Definitely something to be said for simplifying the kit you carry with you.
I thoroughly agree. I've been a pro press photographer for nearly 40 years and I'm currently shooting with the truly awesome Canon R6 bodies. Like you, my go to 'anything else' camera is my beautiful x100T. One small bag, a spare battery and a tiny manfrotto tripod. It truly does remind me why I love photography. Makes me smile just to look at it. One lens. Use it!
What a wonderful trip and great video, thanks for sharing! Great pictures too! In 2022 I decided to use my X100V as my main camera and my X-Pro3 only when I can't do otherwise. To me less is more and the X100 series makes everything simple and good and fun and it delivers too. I hope you'll have more adventures like this one but have fun anyways!
Love my X100T, sensor, megapixels of the image size at the sweetest spot. The colors is warm and lively. Is not digitally sharp and sharp in a very film looks ways. Love it.
Great review. Said it before. Stick that 16mp xtrans sensor with the latest autofocus system and Fuji would be on a winner. Far prefer that sensor to the 24mp & 26mp sensors
I owned a T for 5 years. I loved that camera with the premium leather case, it was my baby and went everywhere with me. I took some of my best images with it but ended up selling it for £500 and have regretted it ever since. I thought the V would be the update I was looking for however, it wasn't. I ended up getting the XT3 but might get the V at some point unless they bring out another one. To me, having the leather case really completes the X100 cameras and makes them portable and protected. Much better than carrying a camera bag.
Another Kentucky citizen here. Great video and awesome pictures. One thing I liked about them, especially since they include family and friends, is that they provided good context with that 35mm focal length. Too often, I find myself getting too tight in pictures and forget to include a sense of place and time. That's important when you're documenting adventures with your family. Nice job!!
I know that this is an older video, but I just wanted to say that you sold me on the xtrans II sensor. I've had the xt30 since it's release and I love it. With that said I picked up an x-e2s last fall and I agree with what you said about this sensor. It's very easy to edit and looks great. I'm still blown away by how much detail there is and how sharp the rendering is. I love to pair it with my 18mm f2 and 35mm f2.
I just got the x100s and it’s great! Coming from my Pentax MX 1 it give me a more professional style shooting with the triangle exposure dials, I love my Pentax and will still use it but the Fuji pushes me to use manual mode more often. With the lack of film sims I still can get great recipes with it so it’s good for what you want, I also edit my photos as well so it’s not a big deal for me on the long run.
I have an X100S, same sensor, I love it, the images have character. The camera is tough, small, easy to use but delivers great images. Love having an optical viewfinder. The X100S is my everyday carry, I did look at the T but not sure I need to upgrade.
The biggest reason I replaced the S with the T is because of the redesign of the back of the camera. They did away with the scroll wheel and went with a traditional D-pad to which you can customize each button. That and they replaced the toggle switch at the top (under the shutter speed dial) with a scroll wheel. Those two changes alone made the functionality of the T more enjoyable for me. Luckily, they kept that amazing sensor!
Outstanding images! Would love to hear how you manage to take these awesome photos with the most difficult subjects (little kids) without getting in the way of folks enjoying their vacation. The T was the camera I took to my honeymoon. Still blown away by what I was able to get in such a small package.
Thanks! Most of what I do is documentary style shooting, so I'm simply capturing moments as they happen and not interfering or interacting with my subjects. Obviously, there are times where photos are more posed, but luckily for me, my cousins and wife are more than willing (and grateful) to get some cool posed shots in such a cool environment.
Back in the day, wedding photographer Brian Kraft documented his family trip to Hawaii with the then-new X100 original. These images can still be seen online on his website. The X100 line has long been very useful for travel and everyday.
Great images and "sales pitch" lol. It's too easy to get caught up in the hype of a new iteration of gear when what we already have in hand will do the job just as well.
Amazing photos! I am thinking in buy the X100T to daily camera. But to work? I take photos of work reunions and street marchs. So tired of my heavy reflex Canon, sometimes I use my cellphone Samsung S23 but don't fell the same 😢 the colors, so "artificials". What would you recommend? A modern model?
Hello. Need your suggestions. Among TTartisans 50mm F1.2, the 7Artisans 55mm f1.4 and Viltrox 56mm f1.4 which one is best for sharpness, chromatic aberration/fringing and Bokeh?? I'm not concerned with autofocus?? If anyone of the first two are better for image quality I can ignore autofocus of the Viltrox. Please share your ideas or make a comparative video about these three. All these three lenses are similarly priced. But if image quality is similar the Viltrox seems to be a better buy as it has autofocus. Looking for a budget portrait lens
I have had the x100, x100s and x100f. got the x-pro3 now but am thinking of getting the x100t. I remember getting beautiful colors out of my x-t1 and i want those back lol. Especially as i dont edit my photos much (mostly in camera)
The X100S, X-T1 and X100T all have that beautiful X-Trans II. It's without a doubt my favorite sensor from the Fuji lineup. So much so, that I now have the X-T1 and X100T as my only two cameras!
@@KentuckyMan30 that is nice to hear, people always hype getting the newest and greatest. Currently have the x-pro3 and do like the camera, but i am considering selling it and getting a x70, x100t and x-h1 instead with a extra lens :)
I had an x100t and after getting my note 20 ultra I never used it. ended up selling it. it was such a big regret and dearly miss it. there is almost none for sale for a fair price here in Canada.
I'm new to photography. Thinking of buying a used X100T to travel with. Think I should? Also, like I said I'm new --were your photos here edited in programs? They look great. The whole editing part makes photography feel overwhelming to me.
Thanks! I shoot raw and then apply the Classic Chrome preset in LR and boost vibrance by about +40-50. I then do adjustments from there based on what each photo needs (local adjustments, brightness, etc.).
Wonderful review! I was thinking about grabbing an x100t or stretching the budget for a GRiix. I think your results and the fact I can use profoto wireless might be swaying me towards the Fuji. Did you use any filters? Circular polarizers? Softeners? UV?
The OG X100 was the first Fuji camera I ever bought! That was my gateway drug about 6 years ago now. I did really love that bayer sensor as well. The image at 1:14 was taken with it. :)
@@KentuckyMan30 love all of your work, really hoping fuji will make more cameras where its not just based around resolution but the richness of colors.. i mean the XT1 still holds up well against its competitors because of the colors, mp, & not having an AA filter just makes it a bonus
The pictures are amazing!! I've just got my x-h2s. What film simulation should I use to make this kind of color? What film simulation did you use for these pictures? They are just awesome!!
Thanks! I shoot raw and edit in Lightroom. I start with applying the Classic Chrome profile, then adjust from there. Normally, I like to boost vibrance to about +50 or +60 with CC. I then do all the other adjustments depending on what the photo requires (contrast, exposure, color temp, local adjustments, etc.).
Shame on you, now I want to buy it! :D No, but seriously, very nice video conveying more information about the camera than any other specs video. Missing seeing more content like this lately!
Hey KentuckyMan30, make more videos like this - its every time feels good to see your photos and quality (i just love this colors) and generally the feeling your videos give to the people. You are the reason why i bought xt1 again :) and now maybe 23 lens too :) p.s. what place is this?
I have an X100V and I bought my significant other an X100T to get into photography. Is it weird that I'm jealous of that X100T? Its appearance looks better and it feels better in the hand than the X100V, and the files are gorgeous - maybe I should swap with my SO at some point 😂
Hi Kentucky man. Great to see you back. Great photos and looked amazing adventure. You said 35 mm but shots of camera show 23 mm? What am I missing? Plus where was your holiday? Looked lush. Many thanks.
I actually never use the viewfinder to compose my shots (unless it's so bright outside I have to). For image playback though, it's nice to use the viewfinder on those sunny days. I shoot raw and edit in Lightroom.
Thanks! I shoot raw, then edit in Lightroom. I apply the classic chrome preset, then make adjustments from there (boosting vibrance, contrast, local adjustments, etc.).
I really don't need another not for "work" camera. I own more film cameras in all formats than I would like to say publicly! Far as digital my daily cameras are Sony A6000, Sony A7ii, and a Canon 5D Mkiv. Next year I plan to upgrade my main digital bodies. Sony or Canon not sure yet. However, the videos I see of this little wonder, have me really interested. Something for those light days, personal days. Perhaps a digital companion with my film rangefinder.
I absolutely love this video for 3 reasons! 1) its made by the kentucky man 2) your using at X100 series camera , I just bought an F . 3) the images are from Puerto Rico! May I ask where you stayed and what beach this is? I went to Puerto Rico for the day on a cruise and my children and I cannot wait to go back and would like to stay there.
Thanks! The photos of the more rugged, untamed coastline were from Aguadilla. The more tropical looking beaches were on the opposite side of the island in Luquillo.
@@KentuckyMan30 thanks for the response! by the way did you remove some of your youtube videos? I went re watch a few videos I havent seen in a while and I noticed they were gone.
Well, I think the X70 is a special case. If I'm remembering correctly, they discontinued it, but never came out with its successor (and to many, the XF10 doesn't count). So, naturally, the X70 goes for a pretty penny on the used market.
I shoot raw and edit in LR, but yes. The first thing I do in LR is apply the CC simulation, then I tweak things from there (boosting vibrance, contrast, vignette, local adjustments, etc).
But surely you apply Classic Chrome in the settings to at least get a Classic Chrome preview when shooting. Personally, I use recipes in camera and trust the Fujifilm jpg engine. I shoot RAW+JPG only using the RAW when it’s needed.
It always depends based on the lighting conditions and what not, but I generally shot around f/5.6, ISO 200 for bright outdoors scenes. Shutter speed would then be dependant based on light.
Thanks! Honestly, there's not much more to it than what was in my comment, so I'm not sure it would warrant a dedicated video. Other than the exposure triangle, I use Auto WB and single point autofocus and shoot raw. That's pretty much it in terms of camera settings.
If you search for the "sold" listings on eBay, looks like anywhere between 500-600 USD is the going rate right now, but looks like some sell in the 400's. Probably just depends on condition, what comes with it, etc.
@@caffeine_remedy It's a camera profile in Lightroom. If you shoot raw with a Fuji camera, all the jpeg simulations are available in Lightroom to apply to your raw file.
I shoot raw and edit in Lightroom. I like to use the Classic Chrome preset as a base and build from there (add contrast, vibrance, tweak exposure, white balance, etc).
definitely no. I had it for 5 years , never got along, the worst thing the battery , even with the options reduced to minimum , few hours only, I had to carry around at least 4 batteries , and they died with surgical precision in the exact moment I had to use it. Than the focus, hard to use it in manual hyperfocal, the autofocus always on the wrong distance. And too many buttons and options , particularly on the viewfinder activation, carrying the camera it was easy to accidentaly switch it. Sold it, now I feel much better
Wow. 5 years is a long time with a camera that gave you such grief. I probably would have gotten rid of it years sooner. Haha. What did you end up getting to replace it?
@@KentuckyMan30 but there was at least two pandemic years in between :D the x100t was my second camera, my pentax K1 is much more comfortable to me, even in a trip, but I know it's something strictly personal
