I really appreciate how you don't shy away from promoting meat. Nowadays it seems like everyone promoting "healthy" eating has to speak against meat, seemingly just because it's popular instead of understanding the importance of the nutrition in meat that we need.
Meat is the best thing for me to feel full or satisfied without it I don't feel like I ate a real meal unless it's pizza but pizza isn't good for dieting
Your videos are saving me right now. I am doing my best to get my body healthy. I have a calorie counting app that I love, but I needed help knowing the best foods to eat to make the most of those calories for my body. I've got a long way to go, and much to learn. Thanks for making your videos! I am glad I found them.
I absolutely love making my own pork rinds. I have a fantastic butcher so I get as many skins as I want I experiment with different flavors in the oven. Tastiest snack there is. You’re looking good!
yeah, you have seen the meat sticks in fish. Check out 1:26 of this video. I think it shows the meat sticks in deer and fish on the shelf below the one you're selecting the meat sticks in the video.
I seem to be doing everything you’re saying, and eat those foods. I admit my appetite is controlled but I’m still gaining inches and weight. I’m so lost!! Please help!
I figued that fermented cucumbers (pickles) are great because they have 0 calories but are great for electrolytes, potassium, and probiotics (great for gut health). I love pork rinds or chichirrones
I'd love to see a version of this video, which talks about things you can make at home to fill that protein/fat void. I realize this video is quite valuable to a lot of people who won't or can't add more work to their already crazy day. For people like me though, who want to avoid all the unnecessary packaging (especially the difficult-to-recycle pouches), I'd much rather make several servings of something at home. For instance, I've made the "cheese crisps" at home for years, and it's literally 5 minutes of work. And I'm sure a whole lot cheaper than buying them. Actually that is another thing that would be valuable: a video on making your own batches of snack stuff, and comparing the money spent making it, vs how much it would cost to buy it already made. Another example of that is the egg bites. Just a few moments of work to make them at home, and they would be *MUCH* cheaper. With inflation and cost of living the way it is right now, the majority of us are looking to save anywhere we can.
Very true. I gave a mix of pre-packaged and simple homemade options to help everyone have access to different snacks that can fit their lifestyle. But I do love a good homemade alternative as well!
Thanks for doing this video. It was super helpful to me. I work evening shift so I typically have a snack or two during my shift. My go too has always been pretzels. And it’s a hard thing for me to give up for a while. So thanks so much for the suggestions
A great book that dives into the plethora of resources on this topic is called "The Salt Fix". Highly recommend it if you want to learn more about the science-backed requirements of sodium.
Go to Dr Berry utube channel. Learn the PROPER HUMAN DIET for all ailments. Salt is very good for us. Lmnt won’t hurt u. Lmnt is delicious too. And u can cure your problem
Sad you didnt mention pickles, pickled peppers, olives, avocado, yellow fin tuna raw, salmon cooked or raw, sliced chicken/turkey breast, sliced ham, sardines
You're not missing out on much, don't worry. Neither are very good, Starbucks is VERY expensive, and was even before this inflation. I can't even imagine what it must cost now!
@Celtic Lass oh I know! I lived on every continent. Also lived in New york for many years. I don't miss the overpriced flavored milk that sbux really is lol. 🙈
so.... i get that you're a nutritionist but a lot of these snacks are high in fat and that doesn't work so good for someone who has to watch their cholesterol. Can you do a video on high protein low fat snacks?
I always wonder about the flavourings. Some have added sugar so it'll "cling" better...or flavour enhancers, etc. But I still love pork rinds, eggs and anything cheese!
I always go for my Cinnamon Protein tea with fat, and go for a 10 min walk. The Cinnamon fights blood sugar spikes too, but after I drink the tea and walk, I have no desire to eat. Thank you because I learned the walking tip from you ❤
You took me straight to ‘bazzaro’ land with your weird supermarket! 😂 Not very many of those products available here in Oz. Egg bites? What now? Haha Have to say, I can’t do jerky, reminds too much of dog product Schmackos lol Anyhoo…. thanks for the trip! 😵💫
it's amazing how hard it is to find the full fat cottage cheese where I live. I love your recipes and ideas because they are all 'real' ingredients that can be found..
Obviously you don't live in rural Northeast Texas. Several items you mentioned I've never seen here anywhere. However, thanks for good ideas. I rarely snack, but will keep your guidelines in mind when I do. Thank you.
thank you for this! Been trying to find a 'snack-y" item around lunch time to carry me over till dinner cause I always have yogurt but I'm a lil tired of it lol.
my diet has become quite mundane. often a meal is just a large snack. last night was 6oz of Old Croc smoked cheese and 16oz of fajita beef. such is my norm lately. i crave peanut m&ms or candy coated whoppers ever few weeks but other than that and the AMAZING bread at Red Lobster or Texas Roadhouse, i just dont have an appetite for junky foods anymore. makes me feel like the snob at the carnivals and fairs, like WOW that funnel cake looks and smells amazing but i Really dont need the stomach ache or cancer. I have become that customer no one likes to wait on, "excuse me, is this real butter?"
My husband and I, and our 6-year old, are getting ready to go on a camping trip where we hope to be on the trails early each morning to beat the crowds. This means we'll need to pack a breakfast in our packs on those hiking mornings because we will be out for several hours. We usually have smoothies or eggs at home, but I would love to hear your recommendations for what we could easily pack in our backpacks!
Frankly speaking, I am a cheese lover so I wouldn't snack on cheese; I would definitely consume a whole lot. Out of the ones listed here I'd opt for hard boiled eggs daily nevertheless I just don't snack.
Great ideas for American followers…..I live in Greece where it’s so hard to find pre packaged healthy foods. Also as a person who cannot eat dairy due to sinus issues, my food choices are limited. Do you have any suggestions other than eggs, please?
Sometimes I snack on is vegan protein powder edmaine vegan cottage cheese vegan jerky nuts seeds chia pudding sugar free keto vegan berries with kite hill protein yorgurt
I'll add hemp seeds but I personally am not a huge fan of flax seeds on my yogurt. Although if you like it, you might just want to give it a quick blitz in the coffee grinder before sprinkling it onto yogurt to better help with absorption.
It's a shame that these are all animal products. There are healthy fats/protein that can come from plant sources, and even some options that are less processed and/or carcinogenic.
Are there electrolyte drinks without stevia? Literally with no sweetness. I can’t tolerate stevia or other non sugar sweeteners. May not taste as good but I’ll manage. Lol
Hey there Autumn. So I’m on a weight loss journey…& I was wondering do you have to meet a certain calorie deficit everyday, in order to maintain the weight loss? Like if it’s recommended that you eat 2200 calories a day, could I still lose weight & keep it off me if I choose to fast every other day or eat much less calories than that? Sometimes it just seems too much to indulge. If you have a video upon this matter, please feel free to comment the link. Thank you 😊
Hi Mike! I have a video on calories that I think would be really useful for your journey. You can check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_RuiyM7mye8.html
Fat is more of a "satiety filler". So the amount one person needs will be much different than another. Even from day to day, your needs might change. For example, during the one week before a period starts, women's hunger tends to go up. This usually necessitates eating an additional 1 serving of fat at each meal to compensate. Or if you're exercising harder on certain days, this will also dictate your needs on that day. I don't have a video that specifically dives into this topic, but I do discuss this in my programs.
Salt is a crucial electrolyte for fluid balance, muscle contractions and nerve impulses. You can check out my article on why I take salt daily here: www.autumnellenutrition.com/post/electrolytes-for-fasting-how-much-and-how-often
Thanks for another great video Autumn. I clicked on the link to order as box of the electrolyte salts but sadly the postage to the UK would have been $23. It's free postage to the US though.
Nuts are great, I just don't recommend eating them on their own. Pairing nuts with cheese, beef jerky, meat sticks, etc. helps provide the protein to make sure satiety cues are getting hit.
Some of the products you showed are not available in Europe, at least not in most of Spain's supermarkets. I'm referring to the cheese crackers, beef sticks, bagged tuna and egg bites. Doesn't these fall in the ultra-processed side of the chart? Regardless of the ingredients.
Not to mention super expensive (I don't live in the US either), especially if you want quality ingredients, which I'm assuming she's after. Fortunately things like the cheese crisps and egg bites you can make at home, for only a little work.
4:24 I got a simple egg cooker off of Amazon years ago, and it's so nice. Cooks six eggs at a time in less than 15min with only a tiny amount of water. Just put them in a container in the fridge afterwards and they're a great fast protein snack. I eat them with hot sauce.
Beef sticks? Cheese whisps? Aged cheese? Pork rinds? Hard boiled eggs? Dairy?😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂OMG. People who call themselves nutritionists. Thank God every day I stopped listening to people who know nothing.
If all of this sounds odd, you might want to start looking into current research on dairy, meat and eggs. I have a video on dairy specifically that you can find here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OXRaL1IRRDc.html
