On November 10th of 2022, I reduced my sugar (added) intake to zero. I have lost 35lbs so far. I haven’t even went full KETO and I STILL feel soooo much better. Inflammation has left my body!! Thanks Dr Berg! Fan for life. ❤
I did this with my cancer. I said "f" it. I was (initially) given 8 months, after four years of struggling, feeling horrible, and with one foot in the grave, I knew that the only person who was going to help, was myself. I took baby steps, but I radically changed my diet. I massively cut back on carbs, sugar, salt, and went to a high protein diet. I went from 260lbs to 200lbs in about six months. I went from a 42 inch waist pants to a 36 inch waist pants. I'm starting, just starting to exercise. The first step is the hardest and biggest. I'm now trying to clear up my 50k debt incurred while fighting this dreadful disease. Those are my two feet in my picture, with my Uranium over on the desk.
I am cheering for you Sir. Don't call it your cancer, it doesn't belong to you. If you can fast, the diseased cells will starve to death and your body will regenerate itself. You have already conquered!
Good job! You cured your cancer? That’s amazing! For the debt: I follow Dave Ramsay Debt snowball to pay off debt. It really helps and goes by pretty fast.
I just steer clear of sugar as a habit now. This way, when I do have added sugar or something like that it’s like oh wow I’m having something with sugar in it. It’s a conscious decision, rather that a thoughtless consumption. Thanks Dr Berg!
I have an iron stomach. I’m 51 and besides the flu once in 1996, and food poisoning in 2008, I’ve never thrown up from anything after 1981 (age of 10). I’ve been very strict carnivore for 60 days (beef, bacon, eggs, chicken (all from a farm), water, salt, tallow, ghee, butter). A few days ago I purchased triple filtered bacon fat online (called Bacon Up). When it arrived I saw that it said off to the side that the bacon used might have sugar, brown sugar or maltodextrin. I decided it was probably minimal and used a tablespoon full on my ribeye at dinner. It tasted great…smoky bacon ribeye flavor with extra animal fat. 6 hours later I woke up in the middle of the night feeling nauseous. After a minute of trying to fight it, I could tell it was past the point of no return. I’ll spare you the details….but sugar is the devil. Especially after you’ve reset your body. I’ve reached the point where even a splurge or cheat meal will not only be something I won’t do….but probably won’t ever even crave anymore. Blessing or curse? Not sure, but nothing tastes as good as having my full health back feels. So my answer is obvious…it’s a blessing. Good luck to everybody fighting this battle of regaining your health.
Appreciate your comment. I'm much like you; Iron stomach, rarely ill. Been on my heathy life journey for 4+ months. I wanted to let you know (if you didn't already) that Ginger root is proven to relieve nausea. I have the capsule form, eat them several times a week. I get a case of Vertigo from time to time and Ginger root works great every time for the nausea.
Dr. Berg, you just explained the vast majority of my medical problems! Being in my 70's and lactose intolerant, can't stand coffee or tea, plus not a fan of city water I have drank soda (pop) my entire life. Which was ok to start with since they used regular sugar. However, when the manufacturers be switched to HFCS my health took a turn for the worse. You just explained my symptoms perfectly. Thank You from the bottom of my heart.
Eleven years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and given no hope for recovery. I was on eight prescription drugs I was told I would be on for life. This included 120 pain pills a month, depression medication, steroid creams, anxiety medication and more. By eliminating process foods and processed sugar from my diet. I have almost made a complete recovery. I am down to one meditation instead of eight. I have also dropped 40 pounds. This is not easy to do. But if you are committed to the process. It is definitely possible. In my opinion ninety five percent of medication are unnecessarily, if you are willing to eat real food and participate in moderate exercise.
Same thing for me. I have fibromyalgia and have improved just with diet alone. I also take natural supplements to keep my health good. I don’t like taking man made medicine if I can help it
I thought I recall a video of Dr Berg where he suggests those with fibromyalgia should take iodine . He has a sea kelp (iodine with minerals) supplement if interested. I hope Dr Berg sees this to confirm what i saw. Check out his iodine videos. At least the older ones
Fibromyalgia cannot be proven through science Only symptoms- big Pharma just labeled old age a disease so they can “medicate/profit” on it- medical industry you cannot trust today- ITS all so evil 👿
Just been diagnosed with Insulin Resistance after a long trial of discovering what is wrong. Also fatty liver, which made no sense since I don't eat fried foods but thank to Dr. Berg and his videos I know understand it better. I was exercising daily until the tiredness got to me. Now I have to start from scratch. I feel best when doing Keto even though I just started. Too much stress, coffee and eating incorrectly (not eating at all and then just grabbing something easy) because of long days at work led to this. It's a process. Cutting out all fruit aside for one cup of blue berries and decreasing coffee is probably the hardest.
I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes in October. Started keto & feel so much better! Never hungry & have dropped several pounds. You can do it! And my A1c dropped. BTW, I worked with a gentleman with your last name, only time I’ve encountered that name.
Coffee with no sugar is keto friendly. Plus you can add sugar substitutes and whipping cream. Substitute stevia and monk fruit. See bergs videos on fasting and foods that don't break a fast
I'd like to thank you for your videos particularly on sugar and insulin resistance. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant in May. We sadly lost the baby. Around August the nurse had me test my blood sugar level to see if it was back to normal. That's when I found out I was pre-diabetic. After watching your videos I started taking Ceylon cinnamon with my coffee along with Bitter Melon capsules (which Filipinos have always used for those with diabetes). By December my fasting blood sugar levels have been constantly below 100 despite it being the holiday season. Also with Monk Fruit! I had asthma growing up and my dad discovered this monk fruit tea called Lo Han Kuo from Chinatown in the Manila. So I've always drank it whenever I have coughs or cold. It's so cool to see that it's getting more known now.
@@katelectraglide1794 No, with my miscarriage, i think it could be just age plus food and genetics. I'm not jabbed. By the time the vax came out my fam was already recovering from covid. I've done my research and saw several studies on antibodies and how it's high after infection and will plateau overtime but will never be zero. So my husband and I decided we wouldn't take the jab until like maybe years from now when there's more research about them. So glad we waited, seeing all the articles about injuries, etc. We haven't even gotten re-infected or anything. But I know about what you're saying. I read an article about a canadian doctor who got concerned that stillbirth went up (i think) about 80% from previous pre-vax years.
For me, it's difficult to calculate the right portion of everything I am consuming rationally. So, the best thing I assure myself that I do is to never take anything often nor in excess and always do fasting to not accumulating bad guys. This way, I give the body a chance to throw away what it doesn’t need to make me free.
Eat half portions, even eat snacks or samples of food every 3 hours….or just eat 2 meals a day with vegetables like carrots , beets, avocado, cucumber, corn a half piece corn on cob , with a small portion of chili or meat…. No fried anything , no butter , no cheese, no bread , I make my own bread of ( arrow root, cocoanut flour and almond flower…) on birthdays a smaller portion of cake …going out to eat is just smaller portions….walk each day, sunlight, grounding , morning lemon water….don’t eat a half hour after the morning water….you will lose weight and sleep better….I make my own chicken Chile , I eat eggs 2 at a time….I drink coffee with almond milk only….I lost 25 pounds….my dr. Is thrilled ! Less insulin…less fat, A1C went way down….
Not true, though! The liver makes sugar when you need it…. When you're not eating - especially overnight or between meals, the body has to make its own sugar. The liver supplies sugar or glucose by turning glycogen into glucose in a process called glycogenolysis.
I’m 71 and weigh 181. I walk 2 miles daily. This morning for breakfast, I ate two dried figs, four prunes, one apple, two bananas, a bite of cheese, raw unsalted mixed nuts, and three boiled eggs. Is that too much fructose, for good health? If I can’t eat fruit, what should I eat. I don’t eat bread or any grains. Maybe I’m a sugar junkie.
I’ve given up so much over the past five years but sugar and moderate alcohol remain my last hurdles. I know all the drawbacks and all the benefits to be gained, so thank you for reinforcing it.
Sugar alcohol mess up my stomach. Cruciferous veg give me a headache. So I've been on basically a carnivore diet for the last 7 years (with occasional cheat days to my own detriment). DB has helped me through this journey. I feel good...much better than before and I've been able to keep my weight controlled! I've lost 80lbs.
@@maryj1754 I went to have blood work done, 4 years into Keto. My Cholesterol was was almost perfect with a remnant of 10. She said I had the best kidneys she's seen in a while. I don't know what that means...Haha!
Too bad the people in charge are being bribed with stock options on fake meat companies to try to get red meats banned. Now they even want to ban red meats from the SNAP/EBT program.... So it definitely must be the better food for us if its getting this much attention.... Some want us sick and diseased so they can make $$ off of us.
I think the reason fructose uses a different pathway of metabolism is because when it would naturally be available to us from fruit in the summer, that signals or communicates to our bodies that winter is coming and we need to store up fat in order to survive hence the triglycerides...
FYI - thank you to the person who left the comment about the Cardamon tincture for natural deodorant. It works better than ANY deodorant I have ever tried. I mean it. Nothing commercial nor natural has every worked so well. I think a clean gut helps too. Thank you x1000 for the tip ;)
A number of artificial sweeteners, like stevia and others, used Maltdextin in their granulated products to help them act like granulated sugar, but I've only heard one person mention this. Maltodextrin is not recommended for people with Type II diabetes or insulin resistance. It is used as a sweetener in a number of products. It has both a glycemic index and a glycemic load.
I knew a lady whose doctors thought she was an alcoholic because of the condition of her liver. It turned out that it was because of the amount of fruit she ate every day.
Just had my FBs last wk and found that my blood sugar is 133.. im starting to be conscious now i am taking less sugar w/ my coffee, taking low fat milk and im trying to avoid sweets like cake dessert etc. My problem is always lazy to exercise but i set a goal that atleast i go out for a walk 3to 4 times a wk. Will get my blood sugar test again after a couple of months will see if will improve as i dont wanna be diabetic. Thank you for all your vids Dr Berg! Im learning every single videos i've watched in your channel. May God give you a long years to educate more people! GODBLESS!
LOL! Insulin resistant diabetic here. All patients have many differences. Homocysteine and ESR should be regular blood tests and carefully watched. I have too many diseases and syndromes. Plaquenil was a lifesaving medicine for me, at least so-far. My compensated cirrhosis holds steady. I'm MTHFR 677 C-T ++ with full gene expression, but surviving! I'm 13 years past my predicted/estimated death by a sincere and caring doctor. Triglycerides as high as 5996 at one time in 1997. They are pretty normal now. I believe in milk and honey - particularly in my coffee which is likely the largest part of my diet. Human imperfection can be helped with good medications, supplements, lifestyle, diet, and a few good roll-of-the-bones, not to mention some really brilliant doctors. I immensely enjoy your excellent presentations. We all keep learning by teaching, study, and experience, every day. Many thanks for your great diligent work and presentations!
I have stopped eating a high sugar diet and it's been a whole year and I have never felt and looked better. I have stopped breaking out and my body seems to love a low sugar diet
more blessings to you Dr Berg...I'm grateful that i found your channel...im enjoying now the result of following your advice...your avid fan from Manila, Philippines.
My wife died 3 years ago, since then while I haven't gone full keto, pretty close. Haven't bought sugar or pop since. Quit buying bread because it was growing green fur before I would finish half a loaf, still enjoy the odd bagel or English muffin but they to would start turning green before I could finish half the package, potatoes I would buy occasionally if I could buy them loose and only get a couple. I'm down about 75 lbs and would like to lose another 40 or 50. Can't get the exercise I would like because of severe back pain from an injury 50 years ago. Maybe when I lose the rest of the weight I'll be able to walk more than 1/2 block without the pain.
Possibly, Dr Berg’s videos on injuries/ trauma can help. Also, I suggest you use his electrolytes as it helps me tremendously with energy levels and to exercise. ❤
I wish low carb and keto had worked for me. Took me 10 months to loose 10 pounds, felt quite miserable, grumpy and tired all the way despite the supplements. I was never a happy camper on this way of eating. Never lost my sweet tooth, I was always looking for something else to eat even after healthy meals. Blood sugar was fine, i never got into ketosis though. . . Tried intermitted fasting, another frustrated lady here in the morning. Developped a reaction problem to almond flour and avocados, and ended up with SIBO. I did this for periods of 10 months at a time in my life, before quitting. Not for all, eventhough I wished with all my heart it worked. I'm happy for you for your incredible results.
15 years ago a Japanese paper became popular which I suggest you read. It listed the best and worst foods for every blood type. I have added and removed foods from my diet based on this paper and I can say everyone should eat for their own blood type. It is worth reading.
Thank you so much Dr Eric Berg, I really really enjoyed and appreciate your information you are imparting to us all. And I really really appreciate your time and effort too. I’m going to watch the video you’ve suggested to. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I wear a CGM and Allulose does raise my blood glucose, in fact if I each an carbs I eat two or three of my Allulose rich home made chocolate pecan caramel clusters and it prevents any potential spikes in glucose. Ive lost weight, reduced my inflammation and feel completely satiated when eating my baking, chocolate and confectionaries made with Allulose.
My kids eat fruit everyday, this helps them and I not buy processed foods, they eat an apple and a banana a day. Should I not be doing that? How much is too much? I thought I was doing the right thing, please let me know.
My first time using allulose I had a very scary reaction in my brain/head. Very frightening. I put 2-3 tablespoons of organic allulose in a pan along with 3 tablespoons of grass fed butter. Heated it and mixed it into a caramel consistency. Separately I roasted some raw macadamia nuts. After they cooled I mixed them into the caramel. It was so good I ate all of it! But a little while later I developed the strangest sensation in my head/brain. It was like you would imagine a hangover to be only a THOUSAND times worse. I was incapacitated. All I could do was crawl into bed. The next morning I was still having the effect, but milder. I had to stay home from work that day. I don't know whether cooking it in the pan like that had something to do with it, or the amount I consumed was the issue. But the effect was so severe I generally avoid allulose even though I have a large bag of it. I have used it a few times in small amounts and had no similar effect. But generally I avoid it completely. The effect was very severe. The fact that I had such a severe reaction tells me it is probably not safe for long term use. I'm kind of glad that was my first experience instead of using it in small amounts over a long period of time. Considering the severe effect it had I can't imagine it's safe. Also, some people are experiencing elevated liver enzymes when using allulose. Be careful. It's too new to know all the effects.
What about green stevia herb powder? That's a very nutritional herb. Not as sweet as Xylitol, which is made from corn cobs. Corn is the most GMO'd crop on the planet....so how is Xylitol good for anyone?
Honey also has levelose it. Honey made from Sourwood or Buckwheat has much higher amounts. The higher the amount of levelose the longer it takes the honey to crystalize/granulate/sugar. Be interesting to know if that is a benefit or detriment or benign physiologically.
NAFLD can really mess up quality of life in later years of life where the large growing liver might push the intestines causing discomfort/pain. Many people here have the mentality that unless you have diabetes, you can eat as much sugar as you want…. My parents even shame/ridicule me for avoiding sugar as I don’t have diabetes. 🙃😕
I stopped sugar due to pre cervical cancer. It’s getting worse and noticed that sugar causes more pain. I stopped all bread, rice and raw honey and even fruit !!! I’m just doing high protein grass fed beef, turkey and certain fats :) I’m feeling so much better . Along with fasting !
Thank you Dr. Berg. Talking about sweeteners, could you please do a video about Allulose: benefits and risks and if it is a good sweetener on keto compared to the sugar alcohols you suggest ? It is the only sweetener that I can tolerate. I love xylitol because it does not differ from table sugar in the sweetnes and taste but it gives me digestive issues such as pain and bloating. Another request please, in a totally different subject, is if you could do a video on Argan oil and if it is keto friendly? Thank you in advance.
I will never stop eating berries of all kinds. Yes, they have fructose but it is slowly absorbed by the body. The fruit has too many antioxidants to stop eating. it. I think it is why my memory is so good.
Dr Berg, can you discuss more on the types of sugars in different honeys: acacia, lavender, manuka, etc. I’m trying this new diet where I’ve completely cut out refined sugars and refined sugar products and substituted my daily sugar intake with raw unfiltered honey (in addition to any kind of fruit, especially the extra sweet ones, like golden mango, golden kiwi, honey crisp apples, etc., that I was eating before). After watching this video I’m wondering if I’m doing more harm to my liver and arteries than before. So far I feel fine, no pain, no inflammation, no dizzy spells, but it’s only been two weeks.
I been on keto for a month now and feel amazing. I cut ALL sugar and ALL refined carbs and although to substitute bread (which I loved) I’ll make small flat breads using spelt flour and have a small piece with a high fat high fibre meal so there’s virtually no spike in blood sugar. I also go for walks after meals to burn of insulin. I do a 18-6 fast and I gotta say I’m noticing improvement in my heart condition. Less tired and my pulse seems more controlled. I’m taking nutritional yeast, B1, B12 as methylcobalamin, and I make sure I get lots of potassium and magnesium. Don’t be scared of all grains be scared of REFINED grains. there’s a grain called einkorn flour and it doesn’t have gluten like modern wheat. It’s the oldest grain and has never been modified genetically. Essentially it’s gods version of wheat, not monsantos. Make sourdough out of it and slather it in grass fed butter 🤩
Our response to fructose is to develop metabolic syndrome via uric acid and put on fat. This was a survival mechanism in the distant past. That is why we lost the uricase enzyme. We do not convert fructose to glucose as is commonly believed.
Even if we don't eat any sugar, our human body needs it for various functions and when it does, our liver makes sugar when you need it…. When you're not eating - especially overnight or between meals, the body has to make its own sugar. The liver supplies sugar or glucose by turning glycogen into glucose in a process called glycogenolysis.
Everything said about fructose in this video can also be applied to alcohol too, and that's not talking about mixers etc, just alcohol in it's pure form.
I use coconut sugar to sweeten my coffee twice a day. Should I get rid of that as well? I thought it would be a good replacement for table sugar and agave which I was using before. Any advice? Thanks for the video as always!
What does this mean about eating things like berries, olives, and avocados / guacamole? I was told that those things are okay to eat as long as the portion size stays reasonable. Is the amount of fructose in these items so low that it won't do damage like HFCS does?
Just watched a program about a Turkish village in the north in snowy mountains. The grandfather was 108 and put two table spoons of table sugar in his tea, actually the whole family. They were all slim. Is it the very hard work these peole do that they are so healthy despite so much sugar and carbohydrates milk and butter??? Or is it genetic? What do you think?
Thank you for explaining this so clearly Dr. Berg. I eat a lot of fruit and I was concerned about the sugars in those fruits, so this is good to know. Thank you! 😊🙏🏼
Yes, he’s made videos on sweet fruits juice, showing how bad this is. But he also explains in other videos how sweet fruits creates hunger and then tiredness. This happens to me, whenever I eat sweet fruits. I found, hunger for sweet fruits is just caused by a lack of potassium.
@@experimenthealthyketo83 Sorry, but I'm kind of skeptical as concerns strict rules on food. I think there are obviously certain foods that ought to be avoided for good health. But I can't believe that eating PAPAYA, BANANA, APPLE (temperately, soberly) will deteriorate one's health. There are MANY other foods (so called) and habits that are the "bad boys"...
@@joserubensmedeiros1610 Ok.Have you experimented with healthy keto for, say, a month? I’m not saying some people can’t be happy with all these fruits. I was raw vegan for years… but had not experimented with keto and didn’t see the problem in being hungry every few hours. Now that I have tried, to not only remove sweet fruits, but also do healthy keto, that is running my body on healthy fats, I’m barely hungry. Without even mentioning all the specific improvements in my body/ energy, ect. The fact that I’m just hungry once a day and sometimes less, is huge improvement in my productivity. I can also do weight resistance exercises which I was barely able to do before.
@@joserubensmedeiros1610 I see. I started thin and I went thinner when doing keto. But since I have more energy (mostly because of enough salt & potassium), I now can way heavier weight resistance exercises. I could not do most of these before using Dr Berg’s data. So I’m much older but feel and look much younger 😁
@@shiningstar5919 going full carnivore is fine but restrictive if you don't have pre-existing conditions or any autoimmune diseases. I love dairy, butter, cheese and milk, to make sure I get enough calcium and good healthy fats on my diet while fruits is my source of carbs for my active lifestyle.
fructose is a drug. it activates the orexin receptors creating an addiction cycle. plants don't want animals to eat them (that's why they're toxic) but they do want animals to eat their fruit so they can spread their seeds (the seeds are also toxic). the way they've evolved to do this is by filling their fruit with an addictive drug (fructose) which animals will crave. fructose also causes glycation 7x faster than glucose. this is not by accident, as it results in the teeth of the animal quickly rotting. the toothless animal will still be able to eat the soft, ripe fruit but this will prevent it from damaging the seed with their teeth.
Would love it if you would do a video on Splenda, specifically. I read conflicting articles about Splenda which is made from 95% Dextrose and Maltodextrin, and a small amount of undigestible Sucralose. I use two packets per cup of coffee, and drink usually 3 or 4 large 11oz. cups per day. with heavy cream (0 grams of sugar) in the morning so I can take my vitamins both fat and water soluble vitamins, without breaking the fast, since nothing to raise my glucose, and then after I have broken my intermittent fast usually after about 16 hours, I switch to half and half which is one gram of sugar.
Hello. Please see this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cY6EVoD7vrM.html Here's another one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H7AqABw5-_A.html -Dr. Berg's Support Team
Splenda is half sucrose and half chlorine. They remove the 3 sugar molecules that raise sugar levels and keep the 3 that make it sweet. They then replace the sugar causing molecules with 3 chlorine molecules. These chlorine molecules kill your good bacteria. This is a sure way to create major digestive issues. Not to mention, you don't want to consume chlorine for many reasons.

Just wanted to add as to why fructose will make you fat quicker. The reason is: is that in glycolysis, which is breaking down of glucose, fructose as a separate sugar can skip a few pathways and that means more piruvate(end product of glycolysis) and acetyl coA than needed to make ATP - adenosine triphosphate. And what it will do is that the excess fructose cause lipogenesis(making of fats) in the liver and that will make your liver fatty and that fatty liver will expand causing you to have huge belly.
Yeah ya had me for bout a tenth of a second there, which is phenomenal. Although I hadn't had my coffee yet this morning and was still half asleep. Hello 👋 I saw you're acne videos and I completely eliminated dairy and sugar from my diet and I already see a difference!! Thank you! But does this mean I can't have blackberries or raspberries? I'm just curious
This is a great video that really explains sugar.....if anyone knows of a expectant mother or family with young childern, please share this video with them. Do young kids really need to be introduced to fruit juices, pastries, sodas, candy or anything made of sugars, grains, or foods that are highly processed and have extremely high carbs to survive?......NO they don't! I'm sickened knowing that we as society are teaching our kids the wrong principles at a very young age setting a good chunk of them up for future obesity and disease. I started watching Dr. Berg just over a year ago and try my best to avoid all the sugars mentioned in video.....I've never felt better, look better, have dropped 70+ pounds all to the credit of Dr. Berg and giving a little effort on my part.
@The Heart this. It will not spike your blood sugars. You are not consuming a fructose extract, but with all what comes around with it, which is fiber.
@@whoknows8223 That is not true. Fruit contains both fructose AND glucose. It won't spike your blood sugar AS MUCH as a glass of orange juice, but it will spike.
