Sidious definitely knew. If he did not orchestrate it beforehand, he would have sensed Maul. I think that Vader knew that too, hence the second of hesitation before following his master. That second was him remembering that he had nothing else in the galaxy left to live for, so he might as well continue trudging along behind the master he despised and distrusted
@@ChillestNilla1999watch rebels, they were aware of each other but didnt fight each other. And maul probably knew vader was anakin or had an idea at least.
Retney is right actually. @pjusttheletterpreally.noth2995 "Legends" is not a category of fanfic or random what if stories that never happened in the universe. It's a continuity. Legends doesn't necessarily need to be called "Canon", Legends is already canon in itself, it has its own canon levels. Legends is one of the two continuities/canons of Star Wars that LucasFilm has recognized and re-released content from. Legends games are still getting updates, Disney is still re-releasing content, not only re-releasing it, but making as collections it. Legends even got new content years later, with the 108th issue of Star Wars comics in 2019. New content came to Legends after years. So I mean Legends is *A* Star Wars canon, it's *A* continuity. It has its own canon system. It doesn't need to be canon as well, LucasFilm already accepts Legends. I hope I've made myself clear. In fact, the concept of Legends itself was created by Disney. After the Star Wars franchise was reset, they rebranded the old canon into a separate continuity. I think Disney should start projects to create content for Legends. New books, graphic novels, comics, that would be great...
It's garbage like this story that caused The Mouse to de-canonise it all. Vader's characterisation is all wrong and the way he wins the fight is ridiculously implausible
@@h20dies Anakin was always Vader. You just didn't pay enough attention. There's also deleted scenes you know. Movie archive has a 5 1/2 hours version of episode 3
If it was just anakin without the vader suit to hold him back it wouldn't of even lasted that long.Anakin used his rage during battle even before becoming vader which made him even better.
I will say this Vader, knowing what he himself went through and survived [on Mustafar] by tapping into the dark side, should not be THAT shocked about Maul surviving as well
Star Trek redshirts have a better survival rate than stormtroopers. Either go with Vader and get killed by Vader or go separately and get killed off screen
I remember reading this comic long ago. And it makes sense to the Sith hate equals strength and after all Vader had done killing the Jedi, killing Padme, his self loathing was as effective if not more as Maul’s hate for everything else.
It's really the basis of the Vader character. Vader's self loathing and self hate is what he drew on for his power. Basically most sith draw from hate and anger outwardly. Vader's hate and anger came from within
Thankfully this isn't cannon because it is stupid. Vader would have force slammed Maul over and over again until he was no more than a pile of gore on the floor while interrogating him "You are part of the rebel alliance and a traitor! CONFESS!" _bonk_ "Where are the death star plans?"
If Vader knew or had even an iota of knowledge that there was a way to get people to come back from the dead then he would be infatuated with it,in an attempt to make Padme come back to life like Darth Sidious had promised to show Anakin SO long ago. Does anyone else believe this to be true? So I think it is a bit fetching of the writers to create a story like this.
I have this comic, absolutely love it too. But how do we know it takes place 0 BBY?? Where is the year stated in the comic? Or is it in like an old reference book
0BBY? Darn. I'd heard a bit about this story before, and assumed it was how Vader programmed PROXY with Maul's image and fighting style. Oh well. Still a cool story.
@matthewtjeerdsma2549 it's such a dope comic. I have a feeling in future content we're gunna see maul fight Vader too. The way he was so frightened by him in Rebels, and how he knew he couldn't defeat Vader alone. It sounded as if he fought Vader b4. That doesn't sound like something Filoni would just not address. It may take awhile, but I bet we'll see it eventually
It was all apart of the Will of ‘The Force’. SIDIOUS, just as Satan, only in control of the temporal plane of existence. The temporal worlds. Through ‘the Force’ we will always be redeemable.
Did Vader stab himself through his actual torso with his organs or did he stab himself through a completely machine part of his torso? I thought his whole torso was still in tact and there was just some machinery embedded? If he did stab through his actual torso, wow, he survived that shit.
They should do this in an animation. Get the guy who voices Darth Maul and James Earl Jones and do a DC type animation. Oh wait Lucasfilm is headed with Kathleen Kennedy. Never mind, she’ll just screw it up by having Rey suddenly appear in and beat them both because she’s great.
Random question Did dooku know that sidious was palpatine? Would sidious actually trust him with that information in AotC, knowing he's still technically in the jedi order? Even by the time of RotS, sure he expects anakin to finish him, but imagine anakin doesnt, they capture dooku and he starts talking... I guess he does look over at palpatine like "wait did you just betray me?" So i guess by that point he had to know, but i wonder when exactly he found out. If he did before he left the jedi order, damn, that is one hell of a ballsy move by Palpati e
@@simplyskrypt3914Dooku literally tells Kenobi that Palps is sidious in AOTC lol "What if I told you that the Republic was now under the control of a dark lord of the Sith?" Obi Wan didn't believe him because "the jedi would sense it." To me it's one of the most significant moments of the fall of the Jedi/Republic because it perfectly highlights what they'd become. Arrogant. They believed that they were too wise and strong for the Sith to ever rise again.
@kevinkeenan6785 Probably not on the spot, he did it later I do recall he tried to use the force several times to cure his burns and lungs, but never was able to heal them fully
@@kevinkeenan-2.1 In shadows of the empire (legends novel set between ESB and Rotj), Vader focused on his hatred and was able to breathe without mechanical aid, until he started thinking about Luke and the emotions broke his focus
One of the most iconic rematches in Star Wars lore and nobody (masses that dont read the SW extended Universe media) has ever heard of it... Also another point, them saying Darth Maul was "resurrected" is not accurate(at least if your basing his story off accurate verified Star Wars canon). Maul didnt die when he was cut in half, using his force powers to stop bleeding out, he then eventually set out: fusing together cyberneticly with mechanical prosthetic legs, then rehabilitating himself through training to become the agile swordsman he once was. Just a prime example of Sith propaganda, spreading lies and enciting fear and suspense through anyone who will hear it and latch on to the darkness, confusion, and fear that clearly feeds the Dark side of the force.
@@natryan8547 ok that really makes sense then haha. Listen to me above trying to sound based n shit. Im a pretty heavy dabbler in extended SW Lore but by no means a expert. I was obv more or less refereing the clone wars "Darth Maul and Savage Oppress Arc" as you could probably catch onto. But any and all info is appreciated always even in the form of correction.... And look on the bright side, Nobody was Expecting "Old Uncle Ben-Kenobi": Obi Wan to turn Maul into Sith Brand Gorilla Glue™
Only someone who know absolutely nothing about fighting would script the following line: "Maul was considered one of the greatest swordsmen/duelist." In order to be considered one of the greatest if not THE greatest, must have fought more than practice. This is one of the most overused hypes Star Wars implements. It cheapens the meaning.
You may not be convinced but it’s cannon…. And he used the force to keep himself alive also can’t really assume the anatomy of a Zabrak is the same as a human. Finally it’s a fictional series so they can write the story they want. 🤷
I don’t worry about runtime when making a video. I just focus on telling the story and sharing info. I don’t like when creators pad their runtime and make the videos longer on purpose
This comic was never Canon even in the original Legends Canonization same with the Old Wounds one were Old Ben Kenobi fought Spider Legged Maul in the day time on Tatooine they were still fun stories though yeah.
@@RetneysHolocronEven if so this was not TPM Maul but a more powerful and skilled clone that had lots of prep time and environmental advantages and favoritism from the dark ones which is why he did do well against Vader on even footing Vader would of easily won yeah.
@@matthewmann8969writer of the comic has stated multiple times that the resurrected/clone Maul is equal in power and skill to himself from TPM and that both he and Vader used their full power against each other. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5GtVYGrR65E.htmlsi=gSHZkUt01earrmGV
@motoryzen yes but if you watch star wars the clone wars, and star war rebels you'll see that Darth maul miraculously survived his fight with young obi wan
This is another reason why i will always say vader is a weak ass sith hows he nearly losing to maul a dude destined to fail 😂 how many times this dude get his ass beat obi killed maul twice over and once with single strike
