I watched the entire video. I have no idea the distinction you were trying to make between your two topics !!!

Some things just make you a "better" human. Fitter, more stoic, better-focused, etc. These are things that are useful outside of poker, but also useful in poker. Then there are things that are solely poker-related, technical skills. Examples: three-bet sizing, VPIP%, etc.

Being a better poker player is absolutely tied to being a more fundamentally sound player

Results-oriented goals are not the way to set poker personal achievements as variance can impede your ability to achieve it. Instead, it is better to set goals that are within your full control, whether it be time spent studying a particular facet of the game, getting in hand volume. "My goal is to make $4k a month" is a terribly, un-SMART goal.
@ConsciousPoker

Well said Zak. Focus on what you can control, forget about the rest.

First step. Become a better player. Easier said than done. Open your mind to all possibility. Go to another level of awareness, beyond the village idiot of rational thinking as you perceive it. Second step. Find easy opponents that are calling stations.

My friends don't be a clown stop playing poker to earn money . Very few are successful
@ConsciousPoker
@ConsciousPoker Год назад
I agree people shouldn't play to earn money. Earning money is the result of doing the job correctly, which is making great decisions. Focus on the process, learn the life lessons, enjoy the game.

Hey Alec. A pet peeve of mine is 'low' language useage. Specifically the gratuitious use of the F-word. You are a poker CEO, don't use the F-word. It's not becoming.... Let's raise the language level as well as the poker level. Good Luck.
@ConsciousPoker
@ConsciousPoker Год назад
Language is used to express ideas. Sometimes 'fuck' is the best way to express something? I may not have used it in context, but as long as it's not being directed at someone, in which case the 'curse' wouldn't matter, but rather the direction, I don't see a problem with it.

@@ConsciousPoker I don't want to 'beat a dead horse' but you can say it's a damned good idea and it's a f***ing good idea the second is no better than the 1st.... Listen to a poker stream where every other word is f'ing this and f'ing that... Let's "try" to clean it up... A thousand mile journey begins with the 1st step. Alec would you use those words giving a TED presentation?? Let's try to "class up" Poker, so that even your mother would be proud!!
