Master Sensui Elijah has always try to portray himself as the "good brother", but, since the end of season 3, all he has done was antagonizing Marcel and pretty much created a monster. On the other end, Klaus who was the "bad brother" has bern showing mercy, which was something no one would have imagine. TVD s3 Elijah was ruthless for good reasons. This Elijah is cowardy full of himself and downright evil to someone who showed him mercy.

For some reason, people have taken to calling this version of Elijah-"Dark Elijah". My one problem with this notion is that this is absolutely no different than Elijah has previously acted. He's threatening someone, which he does routinely. He's threatening someone who poses a threat to Klaus' redemption, which is the main motivation of his character. This is all within the usual confines of Elijah's character. Another example I've seen used is that Elijah was ready to murder one of those kids if it was necessary to save Hope. That sort of atrocity is unspeakable-but, it's also exactly the sort of horrors Elijah has always committed in the name of family. To think he'd do that for his brother's daughter goes without saying. And frankly, doing it for someone as young and innocent as Hope is one of the more morally justifiable things Elijah has done in his long, troubled history of murder and mayhem. The Originals are immortal vampires who live by a far different moral compass than humans do. They always have been, and they probably always will be. And, Marcel has undoubtedly adopted their same moral compass without accepting their companionship. On the scale of the morally depraved, Marcel ranks up their with the Mikaelsons already-with over 800 years less time to shed his morals. I'm not saying to hate Marcel. I'm saying that it's perfectly reasonable to like both Marcel and the Originals. And you might enjoy the show much more if you stop trying to fit them in our moral compass, because they confound conventional morality every episode.
Also, to the people that say Elijah only talks shit to a weakened man... You really aren't paying attention to his character. Elijah likes to put up a front of fearlessness. He did so with Mikael in every personal confrontation, he did so with Lucien and Dahlia. He'll do so with anyone that has the capacity to kill him. He's even done so to Marcel post-serum. And to the idea that the threat holds no weight because Marcel is stronger, that isn't the case at all. Elijah is one of the three most powerful vampires on the planet. Even if Marcel is number one right now, 3 is high enough for any sane man to express concern. Especially given that this is the Mikaelsons... the people with a taste and unrivalled and talent for duplicity, scheming and brutality. Worse yet, this is the man who originally KILLED MARCEL. Unlike Klaus, Elijah has shown an unquestionable conviction to kill Marcel if it's deemed necessary. And Marcel knows that.
Finally someone gets the whole point of this show. That being said, while Elijah killing children to save Hope is an atrocity, immoral and monstrous, it’s still something most would do : put the life of their brother’s child who they love as their own too compared to another individual
I love this so much! Elijah's dark side is always fun to see. Buuut I also love Marcel, so I'd really appreciate it if they DIDN'T actually end up killing each other. :P

Each time I watch this episode: I'm like....whyyyy?! I love Elijah and Marcel. I seriously hope they can get through this. I love dark Elijah, but I hate that he's turning his anger on Marcel. Marcel is family. He's Klaus's family. Klaus needs to speak up, each time one of his brothers, tears down Marcel for not being family or a Michelson. Klaus should know how terrible that feels..."always feeling like a bastard son, like he's not a part of his own family and such." They have a lot in common, in that sense. I hope Klaus would be the one who frees Marcellus. And Hope, welcomes him as Her family. Her brother. Maybe then, Elijah would soften his stance on Marcel. I'd like to see them all united.

Everyone is complaining about how Elijah’s “gone rogue” but he’s always been like this. He’s just letting his ruthless side show so Klaus can focus on being the man he wants to be for Hope. Elijah has gone into the state many times to protect his family. Hell we see his protective side in the very beginning of the next episode when he locks Klaus in with a containment spell. We know he gets dark when he gets protective of Klaus, how else would they survive against their father? He says, “take your life, or lose everything.” Marcel was trying to kill Klaus. I don’t remember a lot of the episode but I’m pretty sure he was mostly after Klaus. Klaus is Elijah’s everything.

He let them go, showing them mercy out of the fact that despite being raised by them he is nothing like them when it comes to showing mercy or taking life. He is his own self and chose to let them live. Now if he really wanted to, Marcel could've killed all six of them right then and there. So yes it was mercy.
M And he ended up in a cage cause he got distracted by Elijah and got defeated by Klaus, with a weapon made to kill him by Freya. Had it not been for the weapon, Marcel would've killed Klaus and Elijah and ended up being the last one standing in that fight.

The Dark Knight DG said a while back that the redemption of Klaus will be the undoing of Elijah. That breaks my heart but I get it. I think it was DG as well who said something like there is no such thing as a happy ending in the Mikaelson family. "I don't think it's possible" if I remember him saying it right. If the bell tolls for Elijah, I'll have a good cry then look forward to DG's next gig.

Hope is still alive. the members of his family are still alive. Thierry is dead. Diego is dead. All marcel's friends are dead. Davina is dead. Marcel lost everything because of the Mikaelson. The originals are clearly the vilains in this story. They created so many demons over the centuries, and when they come for revenge, we are supposed to paint them as antagonists. Well, I don't kow about you guys, but me, I root for the ennemies of this family since season 3. Aurora is still alive. I hope she kills Elijah before she dies.

Elihah punched his arm through Marcel's chest many times so did damon to it to Stefan a lot. Elijah wanted Gia to rip his heart out but Hayley entered the house. Freya was about to rip lucien's heart out but the ancestors kept interfering with her magic, you could even hear the whispers. also when Rebecca was hexed he threatened to rip out klaus' heart to see how long it will take to grow back. klaus also once threatened to have his hybrids dismember Mikael.

@@_itzriazpvp9869 maybe thats cause elijah has always clinged to his humanity and tried to save his siblings. rebekkah,klaus . kol all were monsters and killled for FUN. but elijah would do these things only for family. maybe he was sad and broken to see how his family has fallen apart and thats y he stayed away whereas rebekkah and klaus were inseprable cause klaus wont let her go it was dagger or klaus for her.
