The shot of Rebekah driving away from New Orleans always brings tears to my eyes, no matter how many times I watch it. It’s a sort of bittersweet moment. She finally gains the freedom that she has wanted for a thousand years, but she also has to leave behind pretty much everyone she cares for in the process, and I feel like the scene captures that emotion so well in such a simple way

this is one of my favorite episodes of the originals, when rebekah says they are the definition of cursed my eyes always start to tear up. it’s the episode where we truly understand how broken the original siblings are, how they all lost a part of themselves throughout the centuries, and also how in some ways how little they lived

This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. I agree with everything you said - most of the blame goes to Klaus for what happened, but Rebekah went too far and hurt Klaus in the way she knew would hurt him the most. I also agree that the two of them needed to separate for a while. I think when Klaus kept telling Rebekah that she wanted him dead she denied it at first because she never actively thought it, but in that moment I think she realized that subconsciously maybe she wanted him. When Elijah says: "I have no taste for fratricide" it means that he does not like killing his brothers, the word fratricide comes from the Latin frater (brother) and caedo (to kill). I had never thought that it couldn't be intuitive as a word because in Italian brother is fratello, but effectively in English it doesn't resemble it at all.

When we first meet Klaus in TVD flashbacks, we see/hear him tell Elijah “we do not love” and he believes love is a weakness that can be exploited. That’s why Klaus daggered Elijah in 1x01 TO (he even explained his reasoning to Elijah before he stabbed him). We see it again when Klaus threatens/harms Tim to get Davina on his side (again he’s very upfront about what tactics he’s using - love makes someone vulnerable). Klaus, as a vampire, has felt that deep romantic love before and it was taken away from him (we see who that was and what happened in S3 TO). He felt so betrayed by what happened, he hasn’t looked at love the same way since. Elijah even mentions to Celeste (in Sabines body) that “when you love someone and they love you in return, you’re uniquely vulnerable. They have a power to hurt you that’s like nothing else” (this can be any form of love - platonic, familial, romantic, etc.). Klaus thinking he’s protecting Rebekah from experiencing what he did makes sense. Klaus trying to protect his family in the only way he knows how (complete control over everything) makes sense (especially with Rebekah’s track record of sleeping with someone that ends up trying to kill the Mikaelsons). The way he went about it was wrong, but it makes sense for Klaus (as we know him) to behave the way he did. Same way we can understand Rebekah’s side, we can understands Klaus’s. Does it justify what happened? No, but it does explain it and everything makes sense for the characters involved. I love (99% of) the writing on this show!! This is why I love rewatching The Originals. After you know everything and you go back to S1, THERES SO MUCH MORE CONTEXT! The acting in this episode was incredible! It’s one of my favorite episodes of the entire show!

Elijah and Rebekah thinking seeing Klaus being abused is the same as being the abused human child.

It's been a while since I've seen this and TVD so someone correct me if I'm wrong... 6:33 I don't believe at this point Mikael knows that Klaus isn't his son. It was said in TVD that when Klaus became a vampire and made his first kill, thereby triggering the wolf-gene, his father came to know that Klaus was not his son. So that's not the cause for Mikael's attitude here. Even Hendrick's death isn't a cause here because I don't think he's even born yet. So this is just Mikael being an abusive parent for no reason. Also, as you said, I don't think Kalus has ever experienced Love to know what Rebekah was feeling towards Marcel. All he knows of how people are come from his parents who, when it came out that Klaus wasn't a part of "their" family, rejected him. Elijah said before that even Ester turned her back on him (I don't remember if this is true or just what Elijah thought) and his mother may have shown him love at one point. So in his mind people abandon him over bonds which are more "pure" as he sees it. That may be why he fears Rebekah finding someone to love too. (Again, not justifying 😂) Great reaction, as always. 🎉

Klaus has thought about killing Rebekah once. Let’s talk about Rebekah when they were children she stole Mikael’s knife the blame fell on Klaus she saw him get beaten damn near to death instead of saying something she let it happen, in TVD she tricked Klaus into coming back so Mikael can kill him (an action Klaus forgave her for something people forget) and now she finally admits she wanted him dead in 1919 Klaus loved Marcel like a son her actions caused him the loss of his son or so he believed. Rebekah can do all of that and Klaus can think about killing Rebekah that’s the definition of hypocrisy.

I don’t understand when Klaus was Daggering his siblings in the past why didn’t Elijah stop him Cuz Klaus wasn’t a hybrid back then so he could have beaten him in a fight

I think it was a matter of Klaus picking his moments (and targets) well, because like you said, back then the only advantage that Klaus had over Elijah was the fact that he was susceptible to the daggers and Klaus isn't, but apart from that they were pretty equally matched and seeing their current fights we know that Elijah is a more skilled fighter which gives in an inch even now against Klaus SPOILLLERRSSS SPOILLERRRSS But like I said, there are a couple of things; first, we know that Elijah was fairly ok with Finn remaining daggered and Kol pissed him off so much, and risked their lives so much, that he was even on board at times when it came to daggering him... When it comes to Rebekah, which is someone that Elijah would've definitely refused to endorse daggering, I think that's when Klaus picked his moments... A couple of the times we saw Rebekah getting daggered Klaus did it when Elijah wasn't around... Now, there is the instance of her getting daggered when they were in NO, and while Elijah wasn't seen at that moment i think he was mostly around, so this is just conjecture, but maybe he went with it for the same reason that he severed his relationship with Marcel, for Klaus' sake... Or maybe Klaus told Elijah that Rebekah went away... But, knowing Elijah's illness of always putting Klaus first, it probably had something to do with him not fighting Klaus on daggering Rebekh in order to "not ruin" what they had going on in New Orleans... But it is an interesting point, specially the fact that they never showed us a fight between Elijah and Klaus back then, when Klaus wasn't a hybrid... We also know for a fact that Elijah was never daggered by Klaus before and that the only times he got daggered by him happened not only when Klaus was already a hybrid (meaning that he was confident that he could overpowerd him) but also, if you rewatch those times, Klaus also waits for Elijah to be distracted and with his guard low (which tells you that even as a hybrid he would very much rather not to tangle with Elijah if he doesn't have to)

I don’t believe for one bit Rebekah stood with Klaus out of loyalty she did it cuz she knew what she did when she called Mikael for murder him guilt is why she stayed not loyalty

Klaus is not Mikael he abused him without reason if u do something Klaus thinks is dangerous to the family he will put them in their place. People forget Klaus is a werewolf like every pack animal they punish wrongdoing swiftly and harshly.

One of the dumbest things Rebekah says is “what happened to the boy who loved art and giving her gifts” very few people say she’s stupid for that question u literally had a front row seat to the torture of Mikael and Esther yet u say that idiotic nonsense.

I’m sorry but Rebekah is 100% responsible for calling Mikael. I will never say someone who chooses to side with child abuser isn’t responsible. For me I don’t get how the fan base was 100% saying this is ur fault Rebekah this happened cuz of ur actions. Imagine say flip the genders and people would have a problem of Klaus called an abuser to murder his sister JS. Rebekah calling Klaus a monster to Klaus after she literally called a monster to murder her brother. I’m with Klaus is couldn’t have someone who picked an abuser near my child. The fact that Rebekah couldn’t apologize is the day I was done with her Klaus isn’t a hypocrite like his siblings he doesn’t hide who he is they do I have never seen a human dress like Elijah cuz he’s hiding something like Klaus said. Like Klaus I have always said Elijah is worse it could be 110 degrees and humid as heck Elijah will still be wearing a suit something is wrong with a person who does that.

This is why I can’t stand Michael narducci he had the chance to show the beating Klaus took as a little boy cuz Rebekah stole his knife he could have had Klaus show that beating to Elijah. Instead he chose to show Klaus being beaten in his early 20’s instead of showing Mikael almost beating 12 year old Klaus being beaten cuz of Rebekah’s actions. I think he didn’t chose that cuz he didn’t want Rebekah look bad show I’ll show the one moment she tried to help u.
