One of History's most famous and notorious Kings was Henry VIII. He's most famously remembered for being a King who was very brutal ordering executions of some of his closest friends and even two of his Queens. Henry VIII himself ruled with a reign of terror, and he was known for his huge size with him in his final days eating himself almost to death. He was once a sporty and healthy athletic man, but following a number of illnesses and injuries he fell into a depressive state. In his final years, he ordered many executions including Catherine Howard's his fifth wife's, but as 1547 came Henry began to become very ill.
History has stated that Henry died of natural causes, but his final moments were met with relative peace compared to the terror and turbulence imposed during his reign. Henry passed away inside of Whitehall Palace at the age of 55, and following him Edward VI his son became the King. But what was the story behind Henry's death? Was it really natural causes that killed him? Or was it the lifestyle he had been living?
So join us today as we look at, 'The PAINFUL Death Of King Henry VIII Of England.'

Horses used in medieval combat, where the riders were heavily armored, were large working-style animals -- think of the Budweiser Clydesdales. Henry VIII might have weighed nearly 300 lb., but his charger would have weighed in the neighborhood of 1600 lb. and therefore been able to carry the king without difficulty.

Henry's was the most notorious ruler and worst husband and father. He slaughtered 72,000 people in his reign of terror. Nobody was safe or immune from his anger. He beheaded his queens and even friends. Started a new religion which got thousands killed in centuries to come. All for love which faded away in three years. His daughters became his legacy not son.

true...also that man that he BOILED TO DEATH.... my god this man had some serious problems , no wonder that Mary turned out like this and hated everybody , this man traumatized his children, wives and also his people , what a monster he was but one thing that I have to disagree on is this "new religion " thing... Catholic church was deeply corrupt at that time and the best thing that Henry ever did was to break from Rome , reformation also changed Ctaholic church, its very different today than it was in medieval age, when people couldnt even read the bible and everything was sooo corrupt and pope was basically like a god on earth , yeah evangelism didnt end all of that right away , king James I was famously witchmad and murdered soo many innocents but at least things started to get better slowly, people could read bible even in their own language and start to think by themselves, we are modern world today largely thanks to reformation ....so thank god that this happened at least

I have some sympathy now. My grandmother used to be the seeetest most generous, loving, wonderful grandmother. Until she suffered a traumatic brain injury. That woman became mean, hateful, spiteful, and unreasonable. I genuinely think she’d kill one of us in spite of the issue ever arose. She’d do things like turn the AC off in the middle of summer, in Florida, just because someone had mentioned they were a bit hot. Like if someone made a innocent remark of “oh man, it’s hot today”, she’d decide to turn the AC completely off and make everyone suffer in 102 degrees, 80% humidity.. It changed her. Over the last few years her mental state has degraded to a consider amount. She can’t be officially diagnosed however until she’s dead, as it requires an autopsy on the brain, but she’s been “speculatively” diagnosed with C.T.E, which is progressive. It’s the disease you often hear boxers and football players get. Admittedly I’m not as educated about his reign but it does seem he became a tyrant after his head injury. In that case..I do have to have some semblance of pity or sympathy because to have your morals and ethics robbed from you over an accident is awful.

Henry the VIII most likely died from a combination of things... Sepsis from his infected leg, complications from Diabetes, and Heart Failure due to his morbid obesity. No doubt the man was pure evil in his later years whether it was from his head injury or simply because he enjoyed exercising his power and wanted to make sure no one felt safe enough to try and remove him from the throne as was done frequently in those days. Kings were killed battling their enemies for power and privilege. Henry's desire for a son is what created his fear of not having an heir to inherit the throne ending the Tudor reign of England. After all his father was the first Tudor to kill for power and Henry killed to keep it. If there is a Hell no doubt Henry VIII is most likely in it for all the senseless murders he had committed in his name. He even had women tortured. He was a horrible man. Not that I would wish any of this on anyone, but not even the son he sired with Jane Seymour (another ambitious whore) ended up dying before he could marry and have children. It was so fitting that both his daughter reigned after his death. Especially Elizabeth. Anne's killing was a setup and he didn't care if she died once he had his would-be child bride. Jane also got her just desserts for her role in Anne's death as well as did all her enemies that plotted to have her beheaded. It was poetic justice and Henry's death was a long-suffering process. I'm sure he had nothing but time to think about what a cruel bastard he had become. Henry VIII was having people's heads chopped off long before he ever suffered his head injuries.

@Meriale46
@Meriale46 2 года назад
@@davidlynch9049 Yes they do. Do your historical research before thinking they didn't know what killed the man. It's not brain surgery here. If you know anything about medical conditions he had all the symptoms. Even the Royal Physician at that time wrote that Henry died from infection. The man weight over 400lbs and ate none stop. If he had diabetes it would explain why he couldn't heal from his infected leg. Being grossly overweight most certainly didn't help and the older he got the more strain on his heart. I'm sure that either one or all played a role in the demise of Henry VIII.
@Meriale46
@Meriale46 2 года назад
@@rebekah9713 Oh course she was. Yet she encouraged Henry to execute Anne... and why is that? She was most certainly a whore. He had sexual relations with a married man so you do the math. She was instructed by her father and brothers on how to act to get Henry's attention so she most certainly had the ambition to become the next Queen of England. She flaunted her affair with Henry in Anne's face. So your little simple Jane with a good nature and piousness was not what the TV and movies portray of her. Just because she didn't buck up against Henry in forcing her opinions and ideals like Anne didn't mean she didn't have her own agenda. She most certainly did.

It isn't a far fetch to consider Henry's putrefying leg, that he suffered in the later stages of gangrene. This would also account for his body, supposedly, exploding while he lay in the lead coffin, which is more evidence of why his body fluids ran from the coffin. As to whether the dog licked his blood, I doubt that occurred. Dogs were wont not to go near Henry due to the horrible smell that emanated from his leg, that could be smelled {three rooms away}. He would have suffered an extremely painful death from the gangrene.

It might (gangrene leading to body bursting), but having an untreated body “explode/burst” isn’t that rare of a thing, and although somewhat more common if obese, it can happen to anyone in the right (or maybe wrong ) conditions. It also happened to Elizabeth I, a thin older woman.

If that was true, why do ancient Greeks sculpt fit bodies for both men and women, which they offer as their models of ideal beauty? Renaissance era and slightly before painters mostly painted religious subjects and they thought it was bad for such subjects to "stir up the passions", meaning lust, sexual feelings. So they painted bodies that were physically unattractive on purpose, to separate any sexual element from their painting's religious themes. It's not so weird considering this same group of people thought it would be bad to paint Christ as a baby because they believe Christ was a perfect being and therefor must have been born perfect and fully formed, so instead of painting Christ as a baby, they always painted Christ as an adult human but really small, leading to some pretty ridiculous paintings. And when it came to men, it would be weird for David to have a massive swingin' dong, so they went the opposite way and purposefully de-emphasized that part of the anatomy as a show of modesty.

I remember the postscript narration from "A Man For All Seasons" (1966). When the narrator said: "Henry VIII died of Syphilis," there was a brief spasm of laughter from the audience, since, back then, Syphilis was curable with a shot of Penicillin. I had heard of the word, but not what kind of illness it was, it's long latency, nor what happened as it ravaged body and mind. This really was "Montezuma's Revenge," and not "Turista," which (usually) doesn't kill.

This is actually the first I've heard of his jousting accidents. A traumatic brain injury certainly explains a lot. It also means that, if this is the case, and it certainly sounds like it is, his behaviors were not his fault. At that time, there was no understanding of traumatic brain injury, nor any understanding of head injuries and the damage done by being knocked unconscious. Being unconscious for two hours is pretty much a guarantee of a traumatic brain injury. TBI's cause a great deal of problems for patients and their families and profound changes in personality and behavior are common. So, while his behavior was monstrous, he himself was not a monster, just the victim of an undetected and untreated brain injury.

Henry was nasty, but we should keep in mind that the Tudor wars were not in the distant past. The English barons were always in a state of seething rebellion, still threatened the stability of the kingdom. Henry had solid reason to want a male heir, in order to forestall another civil war over the succession. Allowing all that, it is still true that he was a monster. The only tool he seemed to have to pursue his policies was to kill people. In a sense, his reign was spent in continuing the Tudor war, but now against his own kingdom. The supreme irony is that in the end he didn't have the male heir he so desperately wanted. His daughter was not nearly so strong a person, and the barons largely ran the country. The monarchy was in decline, in no small part due to national reaction against Henry's brutality.

He started out as such a good King, and no doubt the injuries he suffered from jousting and especially the time he was unconscious affected his personality.
