Thank you, Paul, for speaking to each brand and type of paint specifying how to use them, how to thin them, what to thin them with, and PSI to spray. I know a lot of people are appreciative of this video, even if they didn’t like or comment. This is a great amount of knowledge and we appreciate it

Another great video as always, Paul! Very helpful, as I am starting to get my feet wet in building model cars after seeing your excellent videos. I'm still mainly an aircraft modeler, but enjoy branching out and I'm currently building an MPC Pontiac 1967 GTO. Bit of a crap kit, but I'm having fun and that's what counts, after all. I'm with you regarding the AK Xtreme Metals. I've used them on a few builds, but now I much prefer the Mr. Hobby Super Metallic 2 lacquer paints. For me they spray nicer, dry much quicker and don't cause problems when masking panels with Tamiya tape. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!

I absolutely love the LP paints. In the States I order from a place in Canada. I use splash paints pretty much exclusively. And as you said in a review, the splash paints can be a bit hot. Just need very thin layers. And the wide selection of TS cans make it easy once they are decanted. Thanks for the review. If you get a chance, check out the Dspiae paints. They go on well. Thinned 50/50

I'm so jealous on your resources. I'm from Brunei, and Ultimate Modeling Product is now my only source of paints. Made my 2nd order from them and their service is excellent. I don't mind the shipping charges as long as I get my Tamiya lacquer paints.

Hey Paul bit of an unrelated question to this video but it's been something I've been thinking about when watching you use different types of glues for different purposes. I couldn't find a video which gives a glue tutorial so if you don't mind spending a little time covering the different glues you use and the uses.... I greatly appreciate this to eliminate any confusion ambiguity when I finally start my new hobby. Thanks again for your great work and awesome videos!

Fantastic channel, fantastic content, fantastic and enthusiastic host, you have a voice made for this! There are a few stard out channels on modelling and this is one of them. I'm not a modeller (yet), but I have learned a lot from RU-vid and channels like yours (and including yours) on painting which is something I am using for finishing 3D printing...but honestly, I've started looking at getting some models and getting into the hobby! I'll check out your Patreon, thanks for all the content!

Might have to give AK Real Colors a try. While I still use Tamiya primer for my initial bodywork I've started using Splash Paints 2K primer for the final primer coats. I've had zero issues with hot automotive lacquers since I started using it.

Hi, I'm not a car modeller, but I love your review and build videos, they are extremely informative if someone wants to learn. I have a problem with the stynylrez white primer, if you are willing to help - the Ammo branded one, but I thing they are the same. It leaves a latex-ish layer inside the paint cup of the airbrush as I use it up and it can't come out with anything, but rubbing hard. It doesn't come out as a paint residue, more like peels off in a thin layer. Unfortunately UMP products are too expensive to order here after the brexit, and there are no distributor here either, so trying this cleaner is not a solution for me. Question a) did you have similar experience with the primer? or maybe it is just and old batch with expired shelf life? Question b) if not the UMP cleaner what cleaner/solvent could you suggest to remove it from the airbrush? Tried Vallejo airbrush cleaner, Tamyia airbrush cleaner, DIY shop lacquer thinner, IPA, none of them worked.
@thejudge-kv2jk
@thejudge-kv2jk 3 года назад
AK are a lot better to airbrush than Vallejo. I'm not so keen on them though as they are too light. Yes designed to receive filters but that's not how I work. Vallejo shades are often spot on but irritating to spray. Gunze Aquaous and Tamya Acrylic for me atm. Nice video.

The thing that scares me about paint is which thinner to use. Which is why I’m only just starting to use an airbrush. Stay safe 🍻🌲

GREAT Great Video.... for beginners on clear coat, I tried Humbrol clear, went cloudy (1st time that's happened), after a clean down ended up using thinned x-22 over Tamiya which was better but a little rough when sprayed (probably my spraying). X-22 will probably be on my next car. Is this a good idea or should it be avoided? if it's ok what kind of mix and pressure is a good starting point if using a sparmax 4. Know there isn't one magic formula for these things :)

I just don’t get where your coming from in any of your thoughts. Lacquers aren’t built up slowly. It’s two coats. A damp coat and a wet coat done. I guess it’s cause I’m a gunpla builder. But your ideas of what’s great just seem off to me. I get it it’s a opinion. But what your saying isn’t really good advice for a gunpla builder. More of a military or car builder which I’m not so I don’t see where your coming from.
@InternationalScaleModeller

If you knew anything about car specific paints then you would know if they go on even remotely wet they will craze the plastic as they are very hot paints. That’s not opinion that’s fact. There’s a lot more to this hobby than just gunpla
