Shredded beef is called Carne Mechada. Pabellon is the national plate and consist of Shredded beef, white rice, fried plantain slices, and black beans. Kudos for not comparing tequeños with mozzarella sticks, tequeños are sacred.

I guess Lucas has also decided that he doesn't want to go for the Mark Wiens O-face, which I quite like. Still, 5 seems a bit much, I think you can do two at the most with the amount of work that has to go in this production.

Got a little wrong the Venezuelan national dish. The national dish is called "pabellón criollo" and it comes with black beans, rice, shredded beef, fried sweet plantains and most of the time it comes with white Chee's as well. We also eat it with some arepas Wich works like if it was bread...

9 out of 10 ethnic cuisines feature plantains or bananas. Not true, but it's not far off either. Plantains are a cheap, filling starch in most Latin, Caribbean, Asian and African cuisines.

one thing here, the ones you hate arent "real" patacons, here we use green platains, which in most of cases wouldnt be considered ready to eat, but in venezuela when you deep fry those they become really crunchy and there's no sweetness, but as far as im aware green platains arent sold in the US.

waNErBOY They are. Big Caribbean community in NYC. A lot of the islands and South America grow the same vegetables and fruits and depending on where you live in certain cities and neighborhoods you can find these same veggies and fruits.

Honey but pabellón is not only the carne mechada, it needs to have the black beans, the fried plantains, the white rice and the white queso rallado

The dish is called a pabellón patacón because it does have the beef, beans, cheese and of course the plantain because, well, it's a patacón. So it is based on the pabellón.
