My parents are from la union and my mom makes pupusas exactly like those :D

I am in El Salvador right now, and although I have seen some big pupusas that you can order at some restaurants, I´ve never seen one that big here. That needs like a pint of curtido and a pint of salsa de tomate to go to work on it. Also, the plaintain pupusa reminds me of Salvadorean empanadas, which are a delicious dessert. You mash plaintain, and that is your dough, then the filling is blancmange (some people do refried beans, and although I do not disapprove of sweet and savory mixing, that´s just not my bag. I got VERY pissed off as a kid at people that tried to force feed me that shit. That´s where my mean streak comes from); but instead of the disc shape of a pupusa, you make it like a spherical oval, kind of like a football, except rounded, and not pointy at the ends. The other variation on this theme, is to fry up a whole plaintain, and then make a longitudinal slit along it, and pipe the blancmange or beans along it. That is called a canóa, or canoe, in English. Also, of course near a soccer field. I mean, fútbol.
