Unfortunately that's what MS is known for, namely to screw people! I remember when windows 11 was announced, and although it was no different to the 10, yet it wasn't backward compatible. People who had purchased/built/upgraded parts 1-2 years prior to Windows 11 launch couldn't upgrade to Windows 11!

You know how it works right? We have to wait to get the tech from aliens to reverse engineer it then the Elites get the tech before it gets in the hands of the general public. All we get is advertising and showcases until we're allowed to use any ground breaking tech. Transistors, fiber optics, microchips, and so on all went through this process and were all reverse engineered from alien tech

Arm needs people to integrate it into a device cause no one has made a motherboard with a replaceable arm cpu

It will be a laptop before desktop but wont run games until we get away from x86

Microsoft will be announcing Surface Pros and Laptops with X Plus & X Elite next month. We'll prob have them in our hands early June.

The target was always mid this year, but yeah, I think they made a mistake revealing it so long ago. It feels like old news for something that hasn't even been released yet.

These processors are optimized for tablet laptops like the Microsoft surface pro. Basically a tablet or Ultrabook. It won't beat the Intel i9 14900hx on a gaming laptop.😂

M3 pro v Snapdragon X Elite. I just purchased M3 pro🔥. Best laptop ever for me. I used to use gaming laptop, battery extremely suck. This one is lasting way way longer.

@@AgathaWhispers Apple did it successfully twice (ppc->x86_64->arm), Microsoft tried it once and failed miserably (x86->itanium), not sure that you can apply other company success universally

@@AgathaWhispers Apple did ok because they're a closed system and they're able to fully commit to moving to that architecture. Microsoft can't do that. The use cases people use Macs for cover far less than what people use Windows for and Windows has decades of x86/64 applications and executables that people still use and will forever want access to.

He sido fan de productores como Geekom que para mí son Tiny PC , ni siquiera Mini y me parecen bastante buenos fiables ya con lo actual y muy capaces, ahora con Snapdragon Elite creo que puede alcanzar otro nivel , sobre todo por el tema de que utilizan muchos menos Watts y en factores tan pequeños eso es Oro Puro, por la dificultad en refrigerar. Con este tipo de procesadores con ARM en el que ahora compiten las compañías se viene un futuro donde el.poder de un PC de mesa creo que podrá llevarse en el bolsillo en el futuro cercano. Igualmente están en esta etapa las GPU o APU integrados.

m3 is said to much faster but it is as fast or faster than m2, which is still great

you dont get it. to a windows user anything close to m1 performance in terms of battery is a breath of fresh air and enough. note mac os doesint have CAD and plathora of applications native.

We will see that, if it's finally release. You know based on the price, most comparison probably will not against the cheapest basic M chip... because when you compare the 12 power cores with just 4 power cores, you easily can show good results. And they barely compare themself with even the M2 or M3 Pro (which still has less than 12 power cores) And the 40% extra battery life compared to x86 in Excel it's not even close to the 2-3x longer battery life for Macbooks.

@@williamcopeland2617 Because not all workloads need a 14900k and a 4090 obviously. I have 2 low power mini pc's in my homelab right now, an AMD A9 and an intel N100. I also have some older (V2-4) Xeons and an Epyc server, it would be nice to have more low power options.

x86 CPUs will probably be still around for more demanding applications, but this looks very interesting for mobile devices.

The point is this laptop is focused on business where ARM and IA are requirements. Wait a few more years until they ship one of this processors made for home users.

This is the first generation chip thats supposed to run on Windows on Arm. Those companies all are not aware of this yet. Once the products actually hit the market is when companies will start making programs for it because people will start demanding it from them by reaching out. It's all about demand

Actually, it is an incredible achievement. Although M3 is the base model of M3 family, it is the processor with the best performance-per-watt (PPW) in the world, and efficiency is measured according to PPW, not performance per core. The M3 Pro and Max are indeed more powerful than M3, but the performance increase is not proportional to the increased TDP, so the PPW is worse. And also very important, the M3 Pro and X Elite are almost tied regarding multicore performance when the M3 Pro has a ~+50% TDP compared to X Elite (both with 12 cores) and, to add insult to injury, the first is built using a more advanced process node (lithography) from TSMC, the N3, while the second uses N4P (less than 10% slower PPW vs N3).
